The easily available cycloalkanoyl acetic- and propionic acid esters are transformed to the corresponding amines by standard procedures. These in turn provided an efficient access to cyclic -aminonitriles, which were reacted with a series of Grignard reagents yielding stereoselectively the cis-configured title compounds; the scope and limitation of this route were investigated. The stereochemical assignment was achieved by X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy.

Some problems concerning theT c depression of non-transition element superconductors doped with 3d-transition element impurities

A critical discussion of the measurements of theT _c depression of superconductors doped with 3d-element impurities is given under metallurgical aspects. Particularly, the formation of binary solid solutions in these systems is investigated. The contradictions between thin film and bulk material work are removed by showing that metallurgical difficulties connected with the sample preparation have led to incorrect interpretation of the results. Furtheron it is shown that an exact proof of the Abrikosov-Gorkov theoretical dependence of the critical temperature versus concentration has so far not been given.     

Kaonic hydrogen and K(-)p scattering

Chiral SU(3) effective field theory in combination with a relativistic coupled-channels approach is used to perform a novel analysis of the strong-interaction shift and width in kaonic hydrogen in view of the new accurate DEAR measurements. Questions of consistency with previous K(-)p data are examined. Coulomb and isospin breaking effects turn out to be important and are both taken into account in this work.     

Ultrafast core-hole-induced dynamics in water probed by x-ray emission spectroscopy

The isotope effect and excitation-energy dependence have been measured in the oxygen K-edge x-ray emission spectrum (XES). The use of XES to monitor core decay processes provides information about molecular dynamics (MD) on an ultrafast time scale through the O1s lifetime of a few femtoseconds. Different nuclear masses give rise to differences in the dynamics and the observed isotope effect in XES is direct evidence of the importance of such processes. MD simulations show that even the excitation-energy dependence in the XES is mainly related to differences in core-excited-state dynamics.
