Spontaneous polarization and nonlinear susceptibility in various protonated HxLi1−x NbO3 phases

A change in the spontaneous polarization and the nonlinear susceptibility in H: LiNbO₃ waveguides is calculated from experimental data for the shift of the fundamental absorption for variously polarized rays and from IR reflection data in the range of NbO₆ octahedron vibrations. It is shown that taking into account the lattice disorder provides good agreement between the theory and experiment.     

Quark masses from regularized integrals of vector current spectral functions

We give estimates of quark masses from a comparison of two methods of regularizing the coefficient of the Schwinger term. The masses of the first radial excited states of ?, ω, and ? would have to be slightly higher than indicated by the new Orsay data for this method to yield real solutions for the masses of theu, d, ands quarks.     

Self-Consistent Calculations of Landau Levels for Symmetric p-Type Inversion Layers

A method for calculating the Landau levels of symmetric p-type inversion layers is presented. Using the envelope function approach in the Hartree approximation the magnetic field is incorporated into the Hamiltonian. In order to characterize the energy levels and to obtain a detailed understanding of the unusual Landau scheme, an analysis of the wave functions is made. Special effects are discussed for the inversion layers adjacent to the grain boundary of a Ge-bicrystal, with two occupied subbands. The simulation of Shubnikov-de Haas data by a density of states analysis shows that the different oscillatory periods are not directly related to the subband occupations.

A set of axioms for a value for partition function games

Myerson (1977) derived an efficient value for games in partition function form. In this paper, we present a set of axioms which characterize a different efficient value for such games. This latter value assigns value 0 to dummies and assigns nonnegative values to players in monotone simple games.     

An interactive approach for multiobjective decision making

We develop an interactive approach for multiobjective decision-making problems, where the solution space is defined by a set of constraints. We first reduce the solution space by eliminating some undesirable regions. We generate solutions (partition ideals) that dominate portions of the efficient frontier and the decision maker (DM) compares these with feasible solutions. Whenever the decision maker prefers a feasible solution, we eliminate the region dominated by the partition ideal. We then employ an interactive search method on the reduced solution space to help the DM further converge toward a highly preferred solution. We demonstrate our approach and discuss some variations.
