Synthesis and Antibacterial Activity of 9-Oxo-9,10-dihydroacridinecarboxylic Acids Esters Bearing a Triazole Fragment

An effective method for the synthesis of new acridine-9(10H)-one (acridone) derivatives containing 1,2,3-triazole fragment was developed. A number of new triazole-containing compounds were synthesized from propargyl acridone acetate and their antimicrobial activity was studied.     

Nonlinear optical properties of thermally stable silicon-containing poly(o-hydroxyamide) with a covalently bound chromophore in a side chain

The time dependence of the nonlinear optical properties of the films prepared from silicon-containing poly(o-hydroxyamide) with a covalently bound 4-nitroazobenzene-based chromophore in a side chain is investigated in isothermal and thermally stimulated modes. It is revealed that, when the onium salt, i.e., triphenylsulfonium hexafluorophosphate, is added to a polymer solution, the second harmonic generation signal is characterized by an unusual time dependence. The assumption is made that the introduction of the onium salt favors the formation of the benzoxazole structure during the process of polarization (poling). This structure facilitates the orientation of nonlinear optical fragments and, hence, leads to an improvement of the nonlinear optical properties of the polymer film.

Synthesis and characterization of triphenylmethylphosphonium transition metal salts

Triphenylmethylphosphonium salts, [PPh3Me]aMXn (M=Cu2+, Co2+, Mn2+, Ni2+ Fe3+ Pb2+ and Hg2+; X=Cl or I; a=1 or 2 and n=3 or 4) prepared by reacting PPh3MeX with the metal dihalide in EtOH sol-utions, have been characterized by electronic, Raman, far i.r. and Mo¨ssbaur spectra and by their magnetic properties as well as by elemental analyses. The copper complexes [PPh3Me]2CuCl4 and [PPh3Me]2Cu3Cl8 were characterized by X-ray crystallography and the structures are described. Powder diffraction patterns have shown that the cobalt and manganese tetrachloride complexes are isomorphous. Investigation by d.s.c. measurements showed that the complexes exhibit structural phase transitions.     

Synthesis of biologically active compounds based on 2-ferrocenylmethylene-3-quinuclidone

Biologically active nitrogen heterocycles (1–7) containing ferrocene and quinuclidine fragments were synthesized. 3-Methylene-2-ferrocenylmethylenequinuiclidine forms adducts withN-phenylimides of azodicarboxylic (the structure was established by X-ray structural analysis) and malefic acids. 3-Methylene-2-fer-rocenylmethylenequinticlidine also undergoes [4+2]-cyclodimerization when heated and adds salts of the 3-methyl-2-ferrocenylmethyleneI-azoniabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-yl cation at the terminal methylene group to form a linear addition product.Instituto de Quimica, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), Circuito Exterior, Ciudad Universitaria, Coyoacan.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 11, pp 2743–2750, November, 1996.     

3-Ferrocenyl-1-methyl- and 1-ferrocenyl-3-methylcyclopropenes

Dehydrobromination of isomeric 3-bromo-1-ferrocenyl-2-methylcyclopropanes afforded 3-ferrocenyl-1-methyl- and 1-ferrocenyl-3-methylcyclopropenes. These undergo smooth opening of the three-membered ring to give 1- and 2-ferrocenylbuta-1,3-dienes and 1- and 2-methyl-1H-cyclopentaferrocenes; with 1,3-diphenylisobenzofuran they give the classical Diels-Alder adducts.     

Photochemical transformations of 3-alkyl-3-ferrocenylcyclopropenes

Photolysis of 3-ferrocenyl-3-methyl- and 3-ferrocenyl-3-isopropylcyclopropenes was studied. Sensitized irradiation (triplet excitation) afforded [2+2]-cycloaddition products, viz., tricyclohexane derivatives. Direct irradiation (singlet excitation) of methyl-substituted ferrocenylcyclopropene gave rise to 2-ferrocenylbut-1-en-3-yne and trans-2-ferrocenylbut-2-ene. The isopropyl analog was converted into 1-ferrocenyl-4,4-dimethylcyclobutene. The reaction of this cyclopropene with 2-ferrocenyl-3-methylbut-1-ene afforded 1,3-diferrocenyl-3-isopropyl-6,6-dimethylcyclohexene. The latter compound and 3,6-diferrocenyl-3,6-diisopropyltricyclo[3.1.0.0^2,4]hexane were studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. Possible reaction pathways are discussed.
