In the present paper, we consider one of the most efficient and simple methods to additionally intensify the exchange processes and heat transfer in the separated flow behind a backward-facing step. The method uses small obstacles installed upstream the step; such obstacle act as turbulators smaller in size than the main obstacle. As the turbulators, solid mini ribs, comb ribbings, and wall-detached mini ribs were used. Intensification of the turbulent mixing process behind the main obstacle occurs due to the introduction of small-obstacle-induced 2D and 3D perturbations into the separated shear layer behind the step. Results of a detailed experimental study of the distributions of pressure and heat transfer for different heights of the small intensifier and its positions with respect to the step are reported. The influence of intensifier shape on the thermal and dynamic characteristics of the flow has been analyzed. The distributions of pressure and heat-transfer coefficients were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the various mini obstacles and the limits of their action on the drag and heat transfer. 相似文献

Formation of waves of large amplitude (freak waves, killer waves) at the surface of the ocean is studied numerically. We have observed that freak waves have the same ratio of the wave height to the wave length as limiting Stokes waves. When a freak wave reaches this limiting state, it breaks. Two-dimensional potential flow of the ideal incompressible fluid with free surface and infinite depth can be described by a conformal map of the fluid domain into the complex lower half-plane. Stokes wave is the fully nonlinear gravity wave propagating with the constant velocity. The increase in the scaled wave height H/λ from the linear limit H/λ = 0 to the critical value H max/λ marks the transition from the limit of almost linear wave to a strongly nonlinear limiting Stokes wave. Here, H is the wave height and λ is the wavelength. We simulated fully nonlinear Euler equations, reformulated in terms of conformal variables, to find Stokes waves for different wave heights. Analyzing spectra of these solutions we found in conformal variables, at each Stokes wave height, the distance ν c from the lowest singularity in the upper half-plane to the real line which corresponds to the fluid free surface. We also identified that this singularity is the square-root branch point. The limiting Stokes wave emerges as the singularity reaches the fluid surface. From the analysis of data for ν c → 0 we suggest a new power law scaling ν c ∝ (H max ? H)3/2 as well as new estimate H max/λ ? 0.1410633. 相似文献
