The enhancement of dielectronic recombination by applied electric fields has been observed and measured for the first time in a wide range of controlled and measurable fields using multiply charged ions. The heavy ion storage ring, CRYRING, at Stockholm University was used to store a beam of Si11+ and collide it with a cold electron target. The observation of a substantial monotonic increase of the rate coefficient for the group of higher Rydberg states is in puzzling disagreement with theoretical calculations of electric field enhanced dielectronic recombination. We studied the deformation of a series of gold/polysilicon patterned plate microstructures fabricated by surface micromachining. The patterned plate microstructures were subjected to a uniform temperature change from 100 °C to room temperature that was intended to induce linear and geometrically nonlinear deformation. We used interferometry to measure full-field deformed shapes of the microstructures. From these measurements we determined the spatially-averaged curvature of the deformed microstructures within individual lines and across the entire plate. The deformation response of the patterned plates can be broadly characterized in terms of the average curvature as a function of temperature change and exhibits linear and geometrically nonlinear behavior. We modeled the deformation response of the patterned plates using geometrically nonlinear plate theory with the finite element method. Good agreement was obtained between predictions and measurements for both local curvature variations across lines and for the evolution of curvature of the entire plate with temperature change. Using a generalized plane strain approach with the finite element method we also modeled the spatial dependence of the stress distribution in the lines and substrate. For thick plates, our results agree with those of previous studies, showing a decrease in the von Mises stress in the metal lines with decreasing linewidth. For thinner substrates, though, we find the behavior with linewidth is opposite and there is a critical substrate thickness (about 10 μm for the system in our study) where the behavior with linewidth changes. These results have important implications in the design of patterned structures for micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) applications where films are of comparable thickness to the underlying substrate.  相似文献

Closed-form expressions are obtained for the infinite-body Green's functions for a transversely isotropic piezoelectric medium. The four Green's functions represent the coupled elastic and electric response to an applied point force or point charge. The Green's functions are obtained using a formulation where the three displacements and the electric potential are derivable from two potential functions. When piezoelectric coupling is absent, the results reduce to those for uncoupled elasticity and electrostatics.  相似文献

We present the first results from picosecond interferometry of dense laser-produced plasmas using a soft x-ray laser. The picosecond duration and short wavelength of the 14.7 nm Ni-like Pd laser mitigates effects associated with motion blurring and refraction through millimeter-scale plasmas. This enables direct measurement of the electron-density profile to within 10 microm of the target surface. A series of high-quality two-dimensional (2D) density measurements provide unambiguous characterization of the time evolution in a fast-evolving plasma suitable for validation of existing 1D and 2D hydrodynamic codes.  相似文献

A naturally-occurring mercuroammonium compound from Pitkin County, Colorado, is shown to be the natural analog of synthetic HgNH2NO3. The crystals are isometric, P4132 or P4332, with a = 10.254(1)Å and twelve formula weights per cell. Using 437 symmetry-independent reflections, the crystal structure was partially determined and refined to a residual of 0.090. The positions of the Hg atoms and the N and O atoms of the nitrate group were determined, but the amide ion could not be located, probably due to positional disorder. The structure contains mercury atoms arranged in equilateral triangles 3.421(1) Å on a side. These triangles are linked through shared vertices into helical chains wound around the fourfold screw axes. Similar triangular units occur in other inorganic Hg(II) compounds. The distortion of the nitrate ion from trigonal planar symmetry is also discussed.  相似文献

Novel synthetic techniques are used for the encapsulation of the enzymes oxalate oxidase and peroxidase in stable, optically transparent porous silica glass matrices. The large enzymes are fully immobilized in the porous glass but small molecules such as oxalate ions pass readily through the pores in the glass. The enzymes catalyze the reactions leading to the formation of a colored dye product. Upon exposure of the doped glass to oxalate solutions, a colored glass is formed. The absorption spectrum of the colored product and the changes of absorbance with time are measured within the glass matrix. The sensitivity and the time-dependence of the response are discussed.  相似文献
