A construction of grand unified models of the strong, weak and electromagnetic interactions is described based on the transformation properties of the group generators under a maximal subgroup decomposition without recourse to large representation matrices or to the specific algebraic structures of some classical Lie-groups, such as the Clifford algebra associated with the orthogonal groups or the octonionic structure of the exceptional groups. To illustrate the procedure an explicit construction is given of the SU(5) model useful in the discussion of higher rank groups, of SO(10) under the maximal subalgebras SU(2)L × SU(2)R × SU(4)c and SU(5) × U(1)r and of the exceptional group E6 under SU(3)L × SU(3)R × SU(3)c and SO(10) × U(1)t. The geometry, complete harmonic force field, and dipole moment derivatives of cubane, C8H8, have been calculated at the Hartree-Fock level using a 4–21 Gaussian basis set. The infrared and Raman spectra of cubane and four deuterated derivatives were calculated and compared with previously observed spectra. A set of five scale factors for the calculated force constants was then derived by least-squares fitting of the fundamental vibrational frequencies calculated from the scaled force field to the frequencies obtained by direct experimental measurement. The resulting scaled quantum-mechanical (SQM) force field, containing 73 unique elements, is believed to give an accurate representation of the harmonic vibrational potential of cubane. In most cases, the spectral assignments previously made from purely empirical considerations were confirmed, but a few corrections are proposed. The only major alteration is for an A2u mode revised to appear at 1030 cm?1 in the undeuterated molecule. Coriolis constants and approximate infrared intensities are also calculated. 相似文献

In this work the deexcitation of the B3Π+(Ou+), v′ = 14 level of I2 after pulsed laser excitation has been studied. The quenching cross sections by collisions with I2, H2, CO, and CH4 have been measured. The experimental results are 190 ± 14, 2.5 ± 0.3, 15.1 ± 0.4, and 18.0 ± 0.6 Å2, respectively. These values are compatible (within 30%) with the semiempirical scaling law of proportionality with the product of polarizability and the square root of reduced mass. 相似文献
