Density functional theory calculations were carried out to investigate the electronic structures of representative ambipolar hosts for blue electroluminescence, based on two carbazole end groups and meta-terphenyl (mTP)-like bridges. The bridge molecular segments include mTP, 2,6-bisphenylpyridine, 3,5-bisphenylpyridine, and 2,6-bisphenylpyrimidine. While the ionization potentials and electron affinities of these molecules are mainly determined by their hole- and electron-transport subunits, respectively, each subunit impacts the electronic properties of the other upon their binding, mainly in an inductive way. Importantly, the lowest triplet state of the hosts is determined to be confined into the mTP-like bridges since these are the subunits with lowest individual triplet energy. Extension of the phenyl-based π-conjugated system via meta linkages is found to be effective in modulating the electron affinity value while maintaining a high triplet energy.  相似文献

We have advanced a useful strategy to elucidate binding partners of ligands (drugs) with modest binding affinity. Key to this strategy is attaching to the ligand an affinity bait (AB) and a chemical reporter (CR) group, where the AB irreversibly attaches the ligand to the receptor upon binding and the CR group is employed for receptor detection and isolation. We have tested this AB&CR strategy using lacosamide ((R)-1), a low-molecular-weight antiepileptic drug. We demonstrate that using a (R)-lacosamide AB&CR agent ((R)-2) 14-3-3 ζ in rodent brain soluble lysates is preferentially adducted, adduction is stereospecific with respect to the AB&CR agent, and adduction depends upon the presence of endogenous levels of the small molecule metabolite xanthine. Substitution of lacosamide AB agent ((R)-5) for (R)-2 led to the identification of the 14-3-3 ζ adduction site (K120) by mass spectrometry. Competition experiments using increasing amounts of (R)-1 in the presence of (R)-2 demonstrated that (R)-1 binds at or near the (R)-2 modification site on 14-3-3 ζ. Structure-activity studies of xanthine derivatives provided information concerning the likely binding interaction between this metabolite and recombinant 14-3-3 ζ. Documentation of the 14-3-3 ζ-xanthine interaction was obtained with isothermal calorimetry using xanthine and the xanthine analogue 1,7-dimethylxanthine.  相似文献

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are highly correlated with the invasive behavior of cancer, so their isolations and quantifications are important for biomedical applications such as cancer prognosis and measuring the responses to drug treatments. In this paper, we present the development of a microfluidic device for the separation of CTCs from blood cells based on the physical properties of cells. For use as a CTC model, we successfully separated human breast cancer cells (MCF-7) from a spiked blood cell sample by combining multi-orifice flow fractionation (MOFF) and dielectrophoretic (DEP) cell separation technique. Hydrodynamic separation takes advantage of the massive and high-throughput filtration of blood cells as it can accommodate a very high flow rate. DEP separation plays a role in precise post-processing to enhance the efficiency of the separation. The serial combination of these two different sorting techniques enabled high-speed continuous flow-through separation without labeling. We observed up to a 162-fold increase in MCF-7 cells at a 126 μL min(-1) flow rate. Red and white blood cells were efficiently removed with separation efficiencies of 99.24% and 94.23% respectively. Therefore, we suggest that our system could be used for separation and detection of CTCs from blood cells for biomedical applications.  相似文献

A new kind of organic-inorganic hybrid polymer, poly(tetraphenyl)silole siloxane, was invented and synthesized for realization of its unique charge trap properties. The organic portions consisting of (tetraphenyl)silole rings were responsible for negative charge trapping, while the Si-O-Si inorganic linkages provided the intrachain energy barrier for controlling electron transport. The polysilole siloxane dielectric thin films were fabricated by spin-coating and curing of the polymers, followed by characterization with spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE), near edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS), and photoemission spectroscopy (PES). The abrupt increase in density and decrease in thickness of the thin film at a curing temperature of 100 °C was attributed to a thermodynamically preferred state in the nanoscopic arrangement of the polymer chains; this was due to cofacial π-π interactions in a skewed manner between peripheral phenyl groups of the (tetraphenyl)silole rings of the adjacent polymer chains. Using the NEXAFS spectrum to assess high electron affinity, the LUMO energy level of the dielectric thin film cured at 150 °C was positioned 1 eV above the Fermi energy level (E(F)). The electron trapping of the dielectric thin films was confirmed from the positive flat band shift (ΔV(FB)) in the capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurements performed within the metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) device structure, which strongly verified the polymer design concept. From the simple kinetics model of the electron transport, it was proposed that the flat band shift (ΔV(FB)) or trap density of the negative charges (|ρ|) was logarithmically proportional to the decay constant (β) for the electron-tunneling process. When a phenyl group of a silole ring in a polymer chain was inserted into the two available phenyl groups of another silole ring in another polymer chain, the electron transfer between the groups was enhanced, decreasing the trap density of the negative charges (|ρ|). For the thermodynamically preferred state generating the high refractive index, the distance between the two phenyl groups of the adjacent polymer chains was estimated to be in the range of 0.27-0.36 nm.  相似文献

Vibrational and electronic spectra of protonated naphthalene (NaphH(+)) microsolvated by one and two water molecules were obtained by photofragmentation spectroscopy. The IR spectrum of the monohydrated species is consistent with a structure with the proton located on the aromatic molecule, NaphH(+)-H(2)O. Similar to isolated NaphH(+), the first electronic transition of NaphH(+)-H(2)O (S(1)) occurs in the visible range near 500 nm. The doubly hydrated species lacks any absorption in the visible range (420-600 nm) but absorbs in the UV range, similar to neutral Naph. This observation is consistent with a structure, in which the proton is located on the water moiety, Naph-(H(2)O)(2)H(+). Ab initio calculations for [Naph-(H(2)O)(n)]H(+) confirm that the excess proton transfers from Naph to the solvent cluster upon attachment of the second water molecule.  相似文献

DNA-mediated gold nanoparticles were prepared by chemical reduction of DNA-Au(III) complex. The DNA-Au(III) was first formed by reacting DNA with HAuCl? at a pH of 5.6. The complex in solution was reacted with hydrazine reducing Au(III) to Au. The reduced Au formed nanodimensional aggregates. The particle distributions were obtained by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). This method resulted in a rather uniform dispersion of Au nanoparticles of near-spherical shape and 45~80 nm in diameter. Gold nanoparticles were embedded and stabilized by DNA.  相似文献

In this work, we report the progressive formation of first nanoparticles, next fine ripples, and eventually coarse ripples during the irradiation of single-crystal 6H-SiC surfaces with increasing number of femtosecond laser pulses (λ = 515 nm, τ = 250 fs, repetition rate = 100 kHz). At laser fluences greater than the single-pulse ablation threshold, nanoparticles were produced on the surface by the first few pulses over which fine ripple patterns overlapped at increased pulse numbers. As the pulse number was further increased over ten, the surface was gradually transformed into a coarse ripple–covered one. At laser fluence below the threshold, however, only fine ripples were formed nonuniformly.  相似文献

This paper considers the discrete two-hub location problem. We need to choose two hubs from a set of nodes. The remaining nodes are to be connected to one of the two hubs which act as switching points for internodal flows. A configuration which minimizes the total flow cost needs to be found. We show that the problem can be solved in polynomial time when the hub locations are fixed. Since there are at most ways to choose the hub locations, the two-hub location problem can be solved in polynomial time. We transform the quadratic 0–1 integer program of the single allocation problem in the fixed two-hub system into a linear program and show that all extreme points of the polytope defined by the LP are integral. Also, the problem can be transformed into a minimum cut problem which can be solved efficiently by any polynomial time algorithm.  相似文献

The local environment of unneutralized carboxylic acid groups in poly(ethylene‐ran‐methacrylic acid) (E/MAA) ionomers neutralized with monovalent (Li and Na) and divalent (Ca and Zn) ions has been investigated with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. These unneutralized acid groups interact with one another to form acid dimers, and they associate with existing neutralized complexes. At room temperature, no free acids can be detected for any system, not even for pure E/MAA. With the acid dimer peak (1700 cm?1) and a known unneutralized acid concentration, the concentration of acids associated with a neutralized complex can be determined. This concentration of associated acids increases with increasing neutralization, reaches a maximum below 50% neutralization, and then decreases toward zero near 80% neutralization. This behavior is perhaps due to the increased driving force for aggregation of the neutralization acids. Although Li, Na, and Ca contain similar concentrations of associated acids over the range of neutralizations, the Zn system contains far fewer associated acids (i.e., more acid dimers) at any particular neutralization level.
