The search for different neutrino flavors from collapsing stars using the LVD detector

The main goal of the Large Volume Detector (LVD) is to search for neutrino burst from gravitational stellar collapses in our Galaxy. The apparatus is shown to be able to register stellar collapse even if there is none of the antineutrino emission specific to the standard scenario. The data from more than nine years of detector operation have been processed, and no candidate events for neutrino bursts have been detected. This implies the existence of an experimental limit to the galactic stellar collapse rate in those cases where collapse is not accompanied by electron antineutrino emission: less than one event per 4.1 yr at the 90% confidence level.     

Reactions of the biologically active palladium complexes (H<Subscript>2</Subscript>A)<Subscript>2</Subscript>[PdCl<Subscript>4</Subscript>] with glutamic acid as a model of their transformations in blood plasma

Complexation in the systems Pd(II)-Cl⁻-HA-H₂Glu (HA is the l- or d-conformer of 2-methylamino-1-phenylpropanol; H₂Glu is glutamic acid) was studied using pH-metric titration, electronic absorption spectroscopy, and quantum-chemical modeling. It was found that the ratio of the complex species largely depends on pH and the amine, the crucial factor being stabilization of the structures by hydrogen bonding. This provides explanation to the previous data on the different radioprotective activities of the complexes (H₂A)₂[PdCl₄] containing the l- and d-conformers of the ligand HA.     

Normal functors on the category of paracompact p-spaces and their perfect mappings

It is proved that for any paracompact p-space X and any normal functor F of degree ??3 in the category P the hereditary normality of the space F(X) \ X implies the metrizability of X.     

The energy spectrum of neutrons produced by cosmic ray muons in LVD

The energy spectrum of neutrons produced by cosmic ray muons in the underground detector LVD (3650 m.w.e.) is obtained for the energy range of 30–450 MeV. The spectrum is derived using the energy release spectrum of neutron interaction products in 1.5 m³ scintillation counters.
