Cyclotron-resonance harmonics in the ac response of a 2D electron gas with smooth disorder

The frequency-dependent conductivity sigma(xx)(omega) of 2D electrons subjected to a transverse magnetic field and smooth disorder is calculated. The interplay of Landau quantization and disorder scattering gives rise to an oscillatory structure that survives in the high-temperature limit. The relation to recent experiments on photoconductivity by Zudov et al. and Mani et al. is discussed.     

Schiff moment of the mercury nucleus and the proton dipole moment

We calculated the contribution of internal nucleon electric dipole moments to the Schiff moment of (199) Hg. The contribution of the proton electric dipole moment was obtained via core polarization effects that were treated in the framework of random phase approximation with effective residual forces. We derived a new upper bound |d(p)|<5.4 x 10(-24)e cm of the proton electric dipole moment.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">P</Emphasis>-and <Emphasis Type="Italic">T</Emphasis>-violating Schiff moment of the mercury nucleus

The Schiff moment of the ¹⁹⁹Hg nucleus was calculated using finite-range P-and T-violating weak nucleon-nucleon interaction. Effects of the core polarization were considered in the framework of RPA with effective residual forces.     

X-ray diffraction study of a sequence of phase transitions in Cs2HgCl4 crystals

The temperature behavior of lattice parameters and diffraction patterns of the reciprocal lattice in Cs₂HgCl₄ crystals is studied by x-ray diffraction in the temperature range from 4.2 to 300 K. A sequence of phase transitions is observed and attributed to the evolution of incommensurate and commensurate modulations along the crystallographic a and c axes of a unit cell in the initial Pnma structure.     

Gradiometric investigation of a cesium-vapor quantum magnetometer

Experiments aimed to determine the sensitivity and the optical shift of the output frequency of a magnetometer based on optical pumping of cesium atoms and intended for a neutron magnetic resonance stabilization system are described. A gradiometric arrangement used in these experiments makes it possible to reduce the effect of magnetic field variations on measurements.     

Transverse and longitudinal nuclear magnetic resonance in superfluid 3He in anisotropic aerogel

It is found that the properties of nuclear magnetic resonance of both superfluid phases of ³He in an anisotropic aerogel can be described in terms of the bulk superfluid order parameters with the orbital order parameter vector fixed by anisotropy of the aerogel sample. It is also shown that, by proper squeezing, it is possible to attain a sample with isotropic NMR properties. The text was submitted by the authors in English.
