Logical gates studied in quantum computation suggest a natural logical abstraction that gives rise to a new form of unsharp quantum logic. We study the logical connectives corresponding to the following gates: the Toffoli gate, the NOT and the $\sqrt {NOT} $ (which admit of natural physical models). The transient uniaxial extensional viscosity η

of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) has been measured using the commercial Rheometric Scientific RME and the Münstedt
Tensile Rheometer in an effort to compare the performance of available extensional rheometers. The RME indicated a significant
strain hardening of the LLDPE, especially at a strain rate of 1 s−1. In contrast, the Münstedt rheometer showed the LLDPE to be only slightly strain hardening. This artificial strain hardening
effect in the RME resulted from the strain rate applied to the sample, determined from the sample deformation, being up to
20% less than the set strain rate. These results initiated a round-robin experiment in which the same LLDPE was tested on
several RMEs in various locations around the world. All but one of the RMEs indicated a deviation between set and applied
strain rates of at least 10%, especially at strain rates above 0.1 s−1. The strain rate deviation was found to depend strongly on the value of the basis length L
0
, and may result from the upper pair of belts not properly gripping the sample during extension. Thus visual inspection of
the sample deformation is necessary to determine the applied strain rate. The most accurate measurements of η
e
with respect to the strain rate deviation were obtained when the correct L
0
value and belt arrangement were used. A list of recommendations for running an RME test is provided. Future work focusing
on the fluid mechanics during the test may identify fully the cause of the strain rate deviation, but from a practical point
of view the problem can be corrected for in the determination of η
e
.

The reorientation of a small paramagnetic tracer in poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) has been investigated by high-field electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy at a Larmor frequency of 285 GHz. The tracer is confined in the disordered phase of the semicrystalline PDMS. A sudden change of the rotational dynamics is observed close to the melting point (213 K) of the crystallites. This points to strong coupling between the crystalline and the disordered fractions of PDMS. Below the glass transition ( \(T_\mathrm{g} \sim 150 \mathrm{K}\) ), the tracer reorientation occurs via small angle jumps, with no apparent distribution of the correlation times. Above \(T_\mathrm{g}\) , a power-law distribution of correlation times is evidenced. 相似文献

A new synthetic strategy towards the C27–C35 subunit of Eribulin (1) has been devised to include a protected 1,2-amino alcohol at C34–C35. Early introduction of the C35 amino group in the synthesis of 1 increases the efficiency of the route. Salvia officinalis L. (sage) is one of the most appreciated plants for its plethora of biologically active compounds. The objective of our research was a comparative study, in the Mediterranean context, of chemical composition, anticholinesterases, and antioxidant properties of essential oils (EOs) from sage collected in three areas (S1–S3) of Southern Italy. EOs were extracted by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) inhibitory properties were investigated by employing Ellman’s method. Four in vitro assays, namely, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), ferric-reducing ability power (FRAP), and β-carotene bleaching tests, were used to study the antioxidant effects. Camphor (16.16–18.92%), 1,8-cineole (8.80–9.86%), β-pinene (3.08–9.14%), camphene (6.27–8.08%), and α-thujone (1.17–9.26%) are identified as the most abundant constituents. However, the content of these constituents varied depending on environmental factors and pedoclimatic conditions. Principal component analysis (PCA) was performed. Based on Relative Antioxidant Capacity Index (RACI), S2 essential oil exhibited the highest radical potential with an IC50 value of 20.64 μg/mL in ABTS test and presented the highest protection of lipid peroxidation with IC50 values of 38.06 and 46.32 μg/mL after 30 and 60 min of incubation, respectively. Controlled base hydrolysis of one or both of the protected 1,2-dithiolene chelates of 1,3,5,7-tetrathia- s-indacene-2,6-dione (OCS 2C 6H 2S 2CO) enables the stepwise synthesis of di- and trimetallic complexes with 1,2,4,5-benzenetetrathiolate as the connector. Treatment of OCS 2C 6H 2S 2CO with MeO (-), followed by [NiBr 2(dcpe)] [dcpe = 1,2-bis(dicyclohexylphosphino)ethane], yields [(dcpe)Ni(S 2C 6H 2S 2CO)] ( 4). The reaction of 4 with EtO (-), followed by [MX 2(dcpe)] (X = halide), yields [(dcpe)Ni(S 2C 6H 2S 2)M(dcpe)] [M = Ni ( 5a), Pd ( 5b)]. Deprotection of the 1,3-dithiol-2-one group of 4, followed by introduction of (1)/ 2 equiv of MX 2 and then I 2, yields the neutral trimetallic compounds [(dcpe)Ni(S 2C 6H 2S 2)] 2M [M = Ni ( 6a), Pt ( 6b)]. Tetrahedralization at nickel is observed in 5a, which density functional theory calculations attribute to second-order Jahn-Teller effects, while 6a and 6b display an end-to-end folding of approximately 46 degrees . A color darkening is observed in moving from 4 to compounds 6 due to the increasing size of the conjugated metal-organic pi system. Intense, broad absorptions in the near-IR are observed for 6a and 6b. 相似文献
