Aim of the present work is to investigate the reaction–diffusion process of a two species system under laminar flow in a T-shaped microchannel. A zone formed at the interface between the aqueous solutions of these two species is affected by advection and diffusion. Through theoretical analyses and experimental results, the effect of dispersion has been shown to influence this diffusion zone. We have defined a parameter called effective diffusivity, to account for the dispersion effects and observed it to be a function of the channel Peclet number. In the limiting case of low Peclet number, this parameter is constant and turns out to be equal to the molecular diffusivity. We have also related effective diffusivity and the dispersion coefficient through scaling estimates. 相似文献

Low energy electrons (LEEs) are produced in copious amounts by the primary radiation used in radiation therapy. The damage caused to the DNA by these secondary electrons in the energy range 5-22 eV has been studied to understand their possible role in radiation induced damage. Electrons are irradiated on dried films of plasmid DNA (pQE30) and analysed using agarose gel electrophoresis. Single strand breaks (SSBs) induced by LEE to supercoiled plasmid DNA show resonance structures at 7, 12, and 15 eV for low doses and 6, 10, and ~18 eV at saturation doses. The present measurements have an overall agreement with the literature that LEEs resonantly induce SSBs in DNA. Resonant peaks in the SSBs induced by LEEs at 7, 12, and 15 eV with the lowest employed dose in the current study are somewhat different from those reported earlier by two groups. The observed differences are perhaps related to the irradiation dose, conditions and the nature of DNA employed, which is further elaborated. 相似文献

A new, highly sensitive probe L2 for the selective detection of Hg2+ in organo-aqueous (H2O:CH3CN, 1:1, v/v, HEPES buffer, pH 7.2) medium has been synthesized from rhodamine 6G-hydrazide and 4-nitroindole-3-carboxaldehyde. It was thoroughly characterized by physicochemical techniques including single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The reaction of L2 with Hg2+ gives a 1:1 stoichiometry resulting in a 146 fold fluorescence enhancement and a binding constant (Kf) of 3?×?104 M?1. The spirolactam form of the probe is non-fluorescent; however, it shows dual channel (absorbance and fluorescence) recognition of Hg2+ via CHEF effect through the opening of the spirolactam ring. The quantum yields of L2 (0.00045) and L2-Hg2+ (0.29) show the higher stability of complex in the excited state over the free ligand. The 44.5?nM LOD value demonstrates the detection of Hg2+ at a very low concentration range. Cell imaging studies show the cytoplasmic recognition of Hg2+ by L2. Experimental results are comparable with theoretical values obtained by DFT studies. The fluorescence emission of the complex was completely quenched by I- and from the reversibility studies an advance level INHIBIT logic gate and memory device can be framed. 相似文献

O‐Mannose glycans account up to 30 % of total O‐glycans in the brain. Previous synthesis and functional studies have only focused on the core M3 O‐mannose glycans of α‐dystroglycan, which are a causative factor for various muscular diseases. In this study, a highly efficient chemoenzymatic strategy was developed that enabled the first collective synthesis of 63 core M1 and core M2 O‐mannose glycans. This chemoenzymatic strategy features the gram‐scale chemical synthesis of five judiciously designed core structures, and the diversity‐oriented modification of the core structures with three enzyme modules to provide 58 complex O‐mannose glycans in a linear sequence that does not exceed four steps. The binding profiles of synthetic O‐mannose glycans with a panel of lectins, antibodies, and brain proteins were also explored by using a printed O‐mannose glycan array. 相似文献
