We discuss the distribution of size and aerial density of Ge nanocrystals in a metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) memory structure fabricated by molecular beam epitaxy combined with rapid thermal processing; the size and aerial density of Ge nanocrystals are controlled by varying the thickness of the deposited Ge layer and the processing time. Variation of tunnel oxide thickness is demonstrated with the extension of the processing time. The effect of processing time and tunnel oxide thickness on the electrical properties of the MOS structures is investigated by high frequency capacitance–voltage measurements. The 15 UD pelletron at NSC has been operational and performed well during the last 11 years. There have been major modifications performed for upgradation of pelletron system over this period. Major upgradations which have been implemented are new resistor network system for voltage gradient, doublet to singlet unit conversion for accelerator units, turbopump based gas stripper system etc. In addition accelerator mass spectroscopy program has also been started. A new multi-cathode source, Wien filter etc. have been procured and will be added soon in the system. An overview of the most significant upgradations undertaken and other activities for the system are being reported in the present paper.  相似文献

Understanding the dynamics of vortex matter subjected to random and correlated pinning disorders in layered superconductors remains a topic of considerable interest. The dynamical behavior of vortices in these systems shows a rich variety of effects due to many competing interactions. Here, we study the ac response of as-grown as well as heavy-ion-irradiated Tl2Ba2CaCu2O8 (Tl-2212) thin films by using a micro Hall-probe susceptometer. We find that the dynamics of vortices in the high-temperature, low-field regime of the H-T phase diagram investigated here depends on the nature of pinning defects. While the decay of screening currents J(t) indicates a glassy behavior in both types of samples, the nature of the glassy phase is different in the two cases. Samples with columnar defects show distinct signature of a Bose glass in the measurement of J(t) and the angular dependence of the irreversibility field (B irr).  相似文献

The fatty acid profile study was undertaken to study the effect of impeller tip speed-associated shear stress and dissolved oxygen saturation (DO) on the fatty acid composition variation and on total lipid content of the cells. The study was undertaken in a 5-l stirred tank bioreactor using Mucor sp. RRL001. To study the interaction of parameters and their effects, a central composite design was used. The fatty acid profiling during the course of study suggested that oleic acid and palmitic acid were two major components with their composition varying between 34-47% and 29-39.1%, respectively, of the total lipid content. The GLA content varied between 3% and 9% of the total lipid. The lipid profile study also revealed the presence of a minor amount of fatty acids of chain length C:12, C:20, C:22, and C:24. The modeling of lipid accumulation suggested that it follows a quadratic model with both impeller tip speed (p = 0.0166) and dissolved oxygen concentration (p = 0.0098) following the quadratic order of effect. The fermenter run based on the optimum production zone in response surface plot resulted in the maximum 4.8 g l(-1) lipid compared with the model-predicted value of 4.49 g l(-1). The present study suggests that dissolved oxygen saturation is a more significant contributor to total lipid accumulation. However, the study also suggests that the fatty acid profile of fungal lipid is not directly associated with the shear stress or oxygen availability in Mucor sp. RRL001.  相似文献

Tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum (Alq3), one of the most widely used light emitting and electron transport materials in organic luminescent devices, has been synthesized. Alq3 thin films have been deposited by a thermal evaporation process on glass substrates. The effect of swift heavy ion (SHI) irradiation using 40 MeV Li3+ on the Alq3 thin films has been studied by UV-visible, infrared, photoluminescence (PL) and time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) spectroscopy. From TRPL studies, it is found that the PL of Alq3 thin films arises from two species corresponding to its two geometrical isomers, namely facial and meridional having two different life times. It is also confirmed that the PL and lifetimes of excitons decrease with the increase of ion fluences of SHI of 40 MeV Li3+, indicating a transfer of exciton energy to unstable cationic Alq3 species generated by SHI irradiation.  相似文献

The tandem isomerization-lactonization of unsaturated fatty acids to their corresponding γ-lactones was carried out for the first time in the presence of a Lewis acidic ionic liquid, choline chloride·2ZnCl2. The ionic liquid initially catalyzes the stepwise migration of the double bond along the carbon chain toward the carboxyl group at the Δ4 position, which subsequently undergoes lactonization resulting in the formation of γ-lactones. This one step process allows the formation of γ-lactone in good yield with little or no formation of δ-lactones. The studied ionic liquid plays the dual role of solvent as well as catalyst.  相似文献

The effect of 60 keV Ar+-ion beam sputtering on the surface topography of p-type GaAs(1 0 0) was investigated by varying angle of incidence of the ion (0–60°) with respect to substrate normal and the ion fluence (2 × 1017–3 × 1018 ions/cm2) at an ion flux of 3.75 × 1013 ions/cm2-s. For normal incidence and at a fluence of 2 × 1017 ions/cm2, holes and islands are observed with the former having an average size and density of 31 nm and 4.9 × 109 holes/cm2, respectively. For 30° and 45° off-normal incidence, in general, a smooth surface appears which is unaffected by increase of fluence. At 60° off-normal incidence dots are observed while for the highest fluence of 3 × 1018 ions/cm2 early stage of ripple formation along with dots is observed with amplitude of 4 nm. The applicability and limitations of the existing theories of ion induced pattern formation to account for the observed surface topographies are discussed.  相似文献

NiO thin films grown on Si(100) substrates by electron beam evaporation, were sintered at 500 °C and 700 °C. The films were irradiated with 120 MeV Au9+ ions. Irradiation had different effects depending upon the initial microstructure of the films. Irradiation of the films at a fluence of 3 × 1011 ions cm−2 leads to grain growth for the films sintered at 500 °C and grain fragmentation for the films sintered at 700 °C. At still higher fluences of irradiation, grain size in 500 °C sintered film decreased, but the same improved in 700 °C sintered film. Associated with the grain size, texturing of the films was also shown to undergo significant modifications under irradiation.  相似文献

Two exponents delta for the size distribution of n-atom clusters, Y(n) approximately n{-delta}, have been found in Au clusters sputtered from embedded Au nanoparticles under swift heavy ion irradiation. For small clusters, below 12.5 nm in size, delta has been found to be 3/2, which can be rationalized as occurring from a steady state aggregation process with size independent aggregation. For larger clusters, a delta value of 7/2 is suggested, which might come from a dynamical transition to another steady state where aggregation and evaporation rates are size dependent. In the present case, the observed decay exponents do not support any possibility of a thermodynamic liquid-gas-type phase transition taking place, resulting in cluster formation.  相似文献
