The electronic properties of a single layer (SL) of pentacene molecules are investigated by high-resolution UV photoemission and near-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy in different configurations of the SL, either standing up on an aromatic self-assembled monolayer or planar on a bare Cu(001) substrate. The weakly interacting pentacene molecules in the standing-up SL present a semiconducting character, and the empty states distribution reflects that of gas-phase pentacene, while the planar pentacene-Cu system shows a metallic interface with redistribution of the empty molecular states. The highest-occupied molecular orbital lineshape in the weakly interacting SL shows a double structure, attributed to two nonequivalent molecules in the ordered configuration.  相似文献

NiO thin films grown on Si (100) substrate by electron beam evaporation method and sintered at 700 °C were irradiated with 200 MeV Au15+ ions. The fcc structure of the sintered films was retained up to the highest fluence (1×1013 ions cm?2) of irradiation. However the microstructure of the pristine film underwent a considerable modification with increasing ion fluence. 200 MeV Au ion irradiation led to compressive stress generation in NiO medium. The diameter of the stressed region created by 200 MeV Au ions along the ion path was estimated from the variation of stress with ion fluence and found to be ~11.6 nm. The film surface started cracking when irradiated at and above the fluence of 3×1012 ions cm?2. Ratio of the fractal dimension of the cracked surface obtained at 200 MeV and 120 MeV (Mallick et al., 2010a) Au ions was compared with the ratio of the radii of ion tracks calculated based on Coulomb explosion and thermal spike models. This comparison indicated applicability of thermal spike model for crack formation.  相似文献

Low energy electrons (LEEs) are produced in copious amounts by the primary radiation used in radiation therapy. The damage caused to the DNA by these secondary electrons in the energy range 5-22 eV has been studied to understand their possible role in radiation induced damage. Electrons are irradiated on dried films of plasmid DNA (pQE30) and analysed using agarose gel electrophoresis. Single strand breaks (SSBs) induced by LEE to supercoiled plasmid DNA show resonance structures at 7, 12, and 15 eV for low doses and 6, 10, and ~18 eV at saturation doses. The present measurements have an overall agreement with the literature that LEEs resonantly induce SSBs in DNA. Resonant peaks in the SSBs induced by LEEs at 7, 12, and 15 eV with the lowest employed dose in the current study are somewhat different from those reported earlier by two groups. The observed differences are perhaps related to the irradiation dose, conditions and the nature of DNA employed, which is further elaborated.  相似文献

InAs quantum dots (QDs) were successfully formed in single-crystalline Si by sequential ion implantation and subsequent milliseconds range flash lamp annealing (FLA). Samples were characterized by μ-Raman spectroscopy, Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and low temperature photoluminescence (PL). The Raman spectrum shows two peaks at 215 and 235 cm?1 corresponding to the transverse optical (TO) and longitudinal optical (LO) InAs phonon modes, respectively. The PL band at around 1.3 μm originates from the InAs QDs with an average diameter 7.5±0.5 nm and corresponds to the increased band gap energy due to the strong quantum confinement size effect. The FLA of 20 ms is sufficient for InAs QDs formation. It also prevents the out-diffusion of implanted elements. Moreover, the silicon layer amorphized during ion implantation is recrystallized by solid-phase epitaxial regrowth during FLA.  相似文献

In this paper we prove the functoriality of the exterior square of cusp forms on as automorphic forms on and the symmetric fourth of cusp forms on as automorphic forms on . We prove these by applying a converse theorem of Cogdell and Piatetski-Shapiro to analytic properties of certain -functions obtained by the Langlands-Shahidi method. We give several applications: First, we prove the weak Ramanujan property of cuspidal representations of and the absolute convergence of the exterior square -functions of . Second, we prove that the fourth symmetric power -functions of cuspidal representations of are entire, except for those of dihedral and tetrahedral type. Third, we prove the bound for Hecke eigenvalues of Maass forms over any number field.

The correlation coefficient vs. prediction time profile has been widely used to distinguish chaos from noise. The correlation coefficient remains initially high, gradually decreasing as prediction time increases for chaos and remains low for all prediction time for noise. We here show that for some chaotic series with dominant embedded cyclical component(s), when modelled through a newly developed scheme of periodic decomposition, will yield high correlation coefficient even for long prediction time intervals, thus leading to a wrong assessment of inherent chaoticity. But if this profile of correlation coefficient vs. prediction horizon is compared with the profile obtained from the surrogate series, correct interpretations about the underlying dynamics are very much likely. A compact cyclic shearing interferometer to be used with convergent light for testing lenses is described. It essentially consists of a combination of a prism pair and a plane mirror and is designed to eliminate the residual aberrations present in the oblique incidence interferometer. We update and complete the proof of Proposition 7 in Van Vyve and Ortega (2004) [1], which states that the projection of a facility location reformulation of an uncapacitated lot-sizing problem with fixed charges on stocks (ULSW) to the original space is equivalent to that of the tight shortest path reformulation of ULSW. Their proof is interesting and consists of two cases, only first of which is analyzed in detail. We show that the second case exhibits several challenges not present in the first one and necessitates an updated proof.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of Zn1−xCoxS (x=0.025 and 0.05) thin films grown on α-quartz substrates at different temperatures (TS) of 200, 400 and 600 °C by means of pulsed laser deposition are presented. The films are crystallized with wurtzite structure. Optical absorption and transmission electron microscopy measurements indicate that Co ions are substituted to Zn on tetrahedral sites. Their magnetic response is composed of ferromagnetic and paramagnetic components of which respective strengths depend on TS and Co concentration. This behavior is interpreted as due to fluctuations in the magnetic ordering, depending on grain size and site location in grain boundaries or in crystal cores.  相似文献
