Catalytic activities of three transition metals, as iridium (III) chloride, rhodium (III) chloride and palladium (II) chloride, were compared in the oxidation of six aromatic aldehydes (benzaldehyde, p‐chloro benzaldehyde, p‐nitro benzaldehyde, m‐nitro benzaldehyde, p‐methoxy benzaldehyde and cinnamaldehyde), two hydrocarbons (viz. (anthracene and phenanthrene)) and one aromatic and one cyclic alcohol (cyclohexanol and benzyl alcohol) by 50% H2O2. The presence of traces (substrate: catalyst ratio equal to 1:62500 to 1:1961) of the chlorides of iridium(III), rhodium(III) and palladium(II) catalyze these oxidations, resulting in good to excellent yields. It was observed that in most of the cases palladium(II) chloride is the most efficient catalyst. Conditions for the highest and most economical yields were obtained. Deviation from the optimum conditions decreases the yields. Oxidation in aromatic aldehydes is selective at the aldehydeic group only and other groups remain unaffected. This new, simple and economical method, which is environmentally safe, also requires less time. Reactive species of catalysts, existing in the reaction mixture are also discussed. Homopolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) was carried out in the presence of triphenylstibonium 1,2,3,4-tetraphenyl-cyclopentadienylide as an initiator in dioxane at 65°C±0·l°C. The system follows non-ideal radical kinetics (R p ∝ [M]1·4 [I]0·44 @#@) due to primary radical termination as well as degradative chain-transfer reaction. The reaction between gallium (III) and glycine thymol blue has been studied spectrophoptometrically in order to establish the optimum conditions for determining traces of gallium. The gallium (III) glycine thymol blue complex has an absorption maximum at 560 nm against a reagent blank and is stable between pH 4.0 and 5.5. The complex has a composition 1 : 2 and a formation constant of 6.4×107 under the conditions studied. Beer's law is obeyed upto 126 μg of gallium. The net molar absorptivity has been found to be 11,000. The present method is very sensitive and rapid. Anions such as citrate and tartrate inhibit the colour development of the complex.  相似文献

2-Diethylaminoethanethiol hydrochloride is proposed for spectrophotometric determination of palladium(II). The sensitivity of the reaction is 0.0085 smg/cm2 and the yellow colored complex shows absorption maxima at 258 mμ and 303 mμ. Color development is slow in the cold but complete after heating for 10–15 min. The optimum pH range is 3.5 to 5.5 and the system adheres to Beer's law between 0.2 and 16.8 p.p.m. of palladium. The average and maximum relative standard deviations were 0.60% and 1.40% respectively. Interferences due to other platinum metals were studied and a procedure is suggested for the simultaneous determination of rhodium and palladium.  相似文献

Summary The polarographic behaviour of nickel and cobalt in the mixed base electrolytes, urea-pyridine and urea-hydrazine has been studied. The effect of pH, concentration of supporting electrolyte and the presence of various other ions was investigated. Well defined polarograms for both the elements were obtained at pH 6.0 and 5.0 respectively. Attempts were made to utilize these observations in the separation of the two cations. While the difference in E 1/2 of the ions in urea-pyridine was greater than –0.3 volts that in urea-hydrazine was about –0.2 volts or slightly less even under the optimum conditions. In a mixed solution the waves for Co and Ni were therefore well developed and separated in the former base electrolyte. The polarograms in urea-hydrazine were, however, of little analytical use because of the washing away of the Ni wave due to the presence of even small amounts of cobalt.
Zusammenfassung Das polarographische Verhalten von Nickel und Kobalt in Harnstoff-Pyridin- und Harnstoff-Hydrazinlösung wurde untersucht und der Einfluß des pH-Wertes, der Leitsalzkonzentration sowie der Gegenwart verschiedener anderer Ionen festgestellt. Bei pH 6,0 bzw. 5,0 wurden für beide Elemente gut ausgebildete Polarogramme erhalten. Es wurde versucht, die erhaltenen Ergebnisse zur Trennung der beiden Ionen zu benutzen. In Harnstoff-Pyridinlösung beträgt der Unterschied der beiden Halbstufenpotentiale mehr als –0,3 V und man erhält gut ausgebildete und voneinander getrennte Stufen. In Harnstoff-Hydrazinlösung dagegen beträgt der Unterschied nur –0,2 V oder etwas weniger, selbst unter optimaler Bedingungen, und die Ni-Stufe wird schon durch kleine Kobaltmengen beeinträchtigt.

Complexes of CuHg(NCS)4, CuHg(NCS)2 (NCSe)2 and CuHg(NCSe)4 with tetrahydrofuran, dioxane, pyridine, 2-aminopyridine, nicotinamide, bipyridine and phenanthroline have been prepared and comparative studies made. Bipyridine and phenanthroline form cationic—anionic [CuL3]2+ [Hg(SCN)4]2? (L = bipy, phen) complexes with CuHg(NCS)4 and dinuclear bridged complexes with CuHg(NCSe)4 and CuHg(NCS)2 (NCSe)2. For other ligands the nature of the complexes is binuclear or polynuclear. The comparative stability of the -XCN- bridge (X = S, Se) is CuHg(NCSe)4 > CuHg(NCS)2 (NCSe)2 > CuHg(NCS)4.  相似文献

Summary A direct titrimetric method for the estimation of iron(III) has been developed, which involves the adjustment of concentration of iron(III) andPh, dilution, addition of 1 ml of 2% indicator solution and titration with EDTA (30° to 35° C). It is based on the fact that the iron(III) forms a blue coloured complex which is destroyed at the 11 molar ratio making the end-point of the titration. Quantity of iron(III) as small as 23.2 mg can be titrated accurately when present in a volume of 100 ml. Study of interferences revealed that quite a number of elements like Be2+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Ba2+, UO2 2+ and Mn2+ does not interfere, whereas much interference is caused by Cu2+, Zn2+, Pb2+, Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+, ZrO2+, V02+, Al3+, Cr3+, Ti4+, Ce4+ and Th4+.
