Entanglement distillation aims at preparing highly entangled states out of a supply of weakly entangled pairs, using local devices and classical communication only. In this note we discuss the experimentally feasible schemes for optical continuous-variable entanglement distillation that have been presented in [D.E. Browne, J. Eisert, S. Scheel, and M.B. Plenio, Phys. Rev. A 67, 062320 (2003)] and [J. Eisert, D.E. Browne, S. Scheel, and M.B. Plenio, Annals of Physics (NY) 311, 431 (2004)]. We emphasize their versatility in particular with regards to the detection process and discuss the merits of the two proposed detection schemes, namely photo-detection and homodyne detection, in the light of experimental realizations of this idea becoming more and more feasible. Summary Basic research concerning voltammetry in highly viscous, paste-like systems is presented. Using model compounds for dyestuffs and reducing agents, respectively, the principal applicability of electrochemical techniques for direct quantitative determination of electroactive compounds in such media is proved. The influence of non-Newtonian viscosic properties of the thickeners used (polygalactomannanes, carboxymethylcellulose) on current voltage curves obtained with rotating electrodes is discussed. An increase of the anodic measuring range due to electrode surface modification by the products of the electrode reaction of hydroxymethanesulphinate and by the properties of the thickeners is evaluated.  相似文献

Using a variational procedure, the depression of the superconducting transition temperature by a system of correlated moving spins is calculated. In particular, corrections to the Abrikosov-Gorkov theory in the neighbourhood of a magnetic phase transition are examined. Characteristic differences in the concentration dependence of the superconducting transition temperature are found in the cases of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic spin correlations.  相似文献

Applying the recently developed formalism of quantum-state transformation of light at absorbing dielectric four-port devices [5], we calculate the quantum state of the outgoing modes of a two-mode squeezed vacuum transmitted through optical fibers of given extinction coefficients. Using the Peres-Horodecki separability criterion for continuous variable systems [4], we then compute both the maximal length of transmission of a two-mode squeezed vacuum through an absorbing system for which the transmitted state is still inseparable and the maximal gain for which inseparability can be observed in an amplifying setup. Finally, we estimate an upper bound of the entanglement preserved after transmission through an absorbing system. The results show that the characteristic length of entanglement degradation drastically decreases with increasing strength of squeezing.  相似文献

This article is concerned with pointwise growth and spreading speeds in systems of parabolic partial differential equations. Several criteria exist for quantifying pointwise growth rates. These include the location in the complex plane of singularities of the pointwise Green’s function and pinched double roots of the dispersion relation. The primary aim of this work is to establish some rigorous properties related to these criteria and the relationships between them. In the process, we discover that these concepts are not equivalent and point to some interesting consequences for nonlinear front invasion problems. Among the more striking is the fact that pointwise growth does not depend continuously on system parameters. Other results include a determination of the circumstances under which pointwise growth on the real line implies pointwise growth on a semi-infinite interval. As a final application, we consider invasion fronts in an infinite cylinder and show that the linear prediction always favors the formation of stripes in the leading edge.  相似文献
