The zeros in the complex z plane of the Whittaker function W_c/z,µ(z),closely related to spherical waves in the quantum-mechanicalCoulomb problem, are investigated for varying real values ofthe parameters c and µ     

Femtosecond vibrational dynamics of self-trapping in a quasi-one-dimensional system

We have directly time resolved the lattice motions associated with the formation of the self-trapped exciton in the quasi-one-dimensional system [Pt(en)(2)] [Pt(en)2Br2];(PF6)(4) ( en = ethylene-diamine, C2H8N2), using femtosecond impulsive excitation techniques. A strongly damped, low-frequency wave packet modulation at approximately 110 cm(-1) accompanies the formation of the self-trapped exciton on a approximately 200 fs time scale following excitation of the intervalence charge-transfer transition. Coherent oscillations at the ground state vibrational frequency and its harmonics are also detected.     

α-Silyl ketones: A high resolution mass spectrometric study

The mass spectrometric fragmentation modes of a series of α-silyl phenyl ketones are reported. For comparison, the fragmentation modes of the analogous silanol and α,β-epoxysilane are also reported. Migration of phenyl moieties to silicon is common throughout the ketone series.     

Selective and cell-active inhibitors of the USP1/ UAF1 deubiquitinase complex reverse cisplatin resistance in non-small cell lung cancer cells

Ubiquitin-specific proteases (USPs) have in recent years emerged as a promising therapeutic target class. We identified selective small-molecule inhibitors against a deubiquitinase complex, the human USP1/UAF1, through quantitative high throughput screening (qHTS) of a collection of bioactive molecules. The top inhibitors, pimozide and GW7647, inhibited USP1/UAF1 noncompetitively with a K(i) of 0.5 and 0.7?μM, respectively, and displayed selectivity against a number of deubiquitinases, deSUMOylase, and cysteine proteases. The USP1/UAF1 inhibitors act synergistically with cisplatin in inhibiting cisplatin-resistant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell proliferation. USP1/UAF1 represents a promising target for drug intervention because of its involvement in translesion synthesis and Fanconi anemia pathway?important for normal DNA damage response. Our results support USP1/UAF1 as a potential therapeutic target and provide an example of targeting the USP/WD40 repeat protein complex for inhibitor discovery.     

The influence of the electron wave function on the PtL I andL III ionization probabilities by 3.6 MeV he impact

For 3.6 MeV He impact theL _I andL _III subshell ionization probabilities of Pt have been measured. Due to relativistic effects in the electron wave functions, theL _I subshell ionization probabilityI _LI (b) is strongly enhanced at small impact parameters exceeding evenI _LIII (b) in nice agreement with the SCA theory.
