New Antiproliferative Tricyclic Sesquiterpenoid from the Leaves of Ocimum sanctum

A new tricyclic sesquiterpenoid 2‐(hydroxymethyl)‐5,5,9‐trimethyltricyclo[7.2.0.0^3,6]undecan‐2‐ol ( 1 ), was identified from the leaves of Ocimum sanctum, and its structure was elucidated by extensive NMR and ESI‐MS analyses. Compound 1 was found to have potent antiproliferative activity against the MCF‐7 cell line.     

Mass Spectrum of Naturally Abundant Tetragermane

A complete mass spectral fragmentation pattern of naturally abundant tetragermane is presented. The mass spectrum shows a fragmentation pattern of the four different types of ions with the following relative order of intensities: M₂ > M₃ > M₄ > M₁. The base peak lies at m/e 148 in the Ge₂H_x ⁺=0→6 region and not in the parent region.     

Mass Spectrum of Naturally Abundant Pentagermane and Hexagermane

A complete mass spectral fragmentation pattern of naturally abundant pentagermane is presented together with the parent mass spectrum of hexagermane. The mass spectrum of pentagermane shows a fragmentation pattern of the five different types of ions with the following relative order of intensities: M₃ > M₄ > M₂ > M₅ > M₁. The base peak of pentagermane lies at m/e 222 in the Ge₃H_x=0→8 ⁺ region and not in the parent region. The base peak of hexagermane in the parent region lies at m/e 440. The precise centers of the three metastable regions of pentagermane lie at m/e 95.51, m/e 165.55 and m/e 237.47 respectively.     

Facile Reduction of Chalcones to Dihydrochalcones with NaBH4/Ni2+ System

Chalcones have been found to undergo facile reduction on treatment with sodium borohydride-nickel chloride system in dioxan-methanol medium to afford dihydrochalcones.     

Triphenyltelluronium β-diketonates; Synthesis and spectra

Triphenyltelluronium /gb-diketonates, RC(O)CHC(O)R¹ (where R = CH₃, Ph or CF₃ and R¹ = CH₃, Ph, CF₃ or 2-thienyl) have been prepared. Spectral data(IR, ¹H and ¹³C NMR, mass spectroscopy) are presented and discussed in conjunction with molecular weight and conductivity data. It is concluded that weak coordination of the β-diketonate to the tellurium atom is a common structural feature of the compounds.
