Evaluation of a retention model in comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography

Modeling the retention in comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC x GC) was achieved using retention indices obtained in conventional GC. Predicted results were compared with experimental data obtained in the two-dimensional separation of a synthetic hydrocarbon mixture. This proved to be helpful in optimizing the operating conditions of GC x GC separation of a complex petroleum sample and in identifying chemical families.

Oxygen-17 nuclear magnetic resonance: The effects of remote unsaturation on 17o-chemical shifts in polycyclic ethers

Natural-abundance ¹⁷O-NMR spectra of 7-oxanorbornane exo-3-oxatricyclo [3.2.1.0^2.4]octane and their unsaturated derivatives (endo cyclic and exocyclic double bonds) have been measured. Linear correlation laws were observed for $\text{δ}{}_{\mathrm{o}}\text{δ}{}_{\mathrm{c}}$ of these ethers/corresponding hydrocarbons. The “cyclization shifts” for δ_o in ethers were not correlated by the “cyclization shifts” for δ_c of the corresponding hydrocarbons.     

Novel synthesis of 2-oxo-3-butynoates by copper-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of terminal alkynes and monooxalyl chloride

A general and efficient Cu(I)-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of terminal alkynes and monooxalyl chloride for the synthesis of 2-oxo-3-butynoates and 2-oxo-3-butynoamides was developed. Readily available starting materials, the mild reaction conditions, wide functional group tolerance, and the obviation of stoichiometric organolithium or magnesium reagents combine to highlight this reaction.     

Two Novel Myrinsol Diterpenes from Euphorbia prolifera

Two novel diterpenes,Euphorprolitherin A(1) and Euphorprolitherin B(2), were isolated from the roots of Euphorbia prolifera. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods.     

Potentiometric titration of sorbed hydrogen on palladium carrier catalysts

A method of determination of adsorbed and absorbed hydrogen on palladium catalysts with carbon carriers is suggested and verified. The method allows H_ad and H_ab to be determined with an accuracy of about 10% using catalysts containing at least 5% Pd.

Natural Abundance 17O-NMR. Study of Some Macrocyclic Complexes with Alkali Metal Cations

Complexation between crown ethers 12C4, 15C5, 18C6 and cryptand 222, and alkali cations Li⁺, Na⁺, K⁺ in various solvents were studied by ¹⁷O-NMR. spectroscopy. Small diamagnetic shifts arising from the cation electric field are observed. They increase according to the sequence K⁺ < Na⁺ < Li⁺. ¹⁷O-linewidth are discussed and compared to the ¹³C relaxation times. Linewidth modification results mainly from modifications of the effective correlation time. In general, for crown ethers, considerable line broadening occurs when the cation fits well into the cavity but line narrowing occurs when the cation is much smaller than the cavity.     

Synthesis and spectral characterization of some complexes of platinum(II) containing η-methyleugenol

Several complexes of the formula trans-[Pt(Meug)(Am)Cl₂], Meug: methyleugenol (4-allyl-1,2-dimethoxybenzene), a η²-coordinated olefin, and Am: ammine, methylamine, diethylamine, o-toluidine, m-toluidine, p-toluidine, o-anisidine, m-anisidine and p-anisidine have been prepared. UV, IR, Raman, ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR and 2D NMR spectra of the complexes were recorded and analyzed.
