The Spectrum of the Two-Dimensional Periodic Schrödinger Operator

The absence of eigenvalues (of infinite multiplicity) for the two-dimensional periodic Schrödinger operator with a variable metric is proved. The method of proof does not use the change of variables reducing the metric to a scalar form.     

Modeling the wave parameters of a narrow slotted transmission line based on a superconducting film

An analytical expression for calculating the wave parameters of a narrow-slot transmission line is found in the quasistatic approximation. A two-fluid model is used for analyzing processes in a superconducting film of thickness comparable to the London penetration depth. The wave parameters of the slotted line are calculated under assumptions about the current distribution near the edges of the slot which are analogous to those used previously for analyzing microstrip and coplanar lines. Exact self-similar and two-phase solutions of systems of semilinear parabolic equations

Exact single-wave and two-wave solutions of systems of equations of the Newell—Whitehead type are presented. The use of a photoinduced electron-transfer reaction for optical limiting in fullerene-containing solutions

Optical limiting was experimentally studied in C₆₀ fullerene-based multicomponent solutions that are characterized by photoinduced electron-transfer processes with the formation of ion-radical pairs. The limitation efficiency in these solutions increased as a result of enhancement of absorption in the molecular system in an excited state. Preparation of Al-Cu-Fe quasicrystalline powdered alloys and related materials by mechanical activation

A mechanochemical method is developed for preparing quasicrystalline powdered alloys in the Al-Cu-Fe system and related materials. Quasicrystals are designed and proposed for use in practice as filling materials for metal and polymer matrices. The structure and mechanical properties of the designed materials are described. The possible fields of application of the materials under consideration are discussed.     

Perforated coaxial exciter of the higher-order mode of a barrel-shaped cavity

We propose to excite a mode with the rotating field structure in an axisymmetric cavity by a coaxial doubly periodic perforated waveguide. Capacitance of the La0.67Sr0.33MnO3/(Ba,Sr)TiO3 interface induced by electric field penetration into the manganite electrode

(001)La_0.67Sr_0.33MnO₃/(001)(Ba_xSr_{1 ? x} TiO₃/(001)La_0.67Sr_0.33MnO₃(x= 0–0.25) three-layer heterostructures are grown by laser evaporation on (001)La_0.3Sr_0.7Al_0.65Ta_0.35O₃ single-crystalline substrates. In a wide temperature range (≈150 K), effective permittivity ? of (1000 nm)Ba_0.25Sr_0.75TiO₃ and (1000 nm)SrTiO₃ films grown obeys the relationship ? ～ (T ? T _CW)^?1, where T _CW is the Curie-Weiss temperature for related bulk crystals. Using experimental dependences ?(T), the capacitance of the (001)La_0.67Sr_0.33MnO₃/(001)Ba_xSr_1?x TiO₃ and (001)La_0.67Sr_0.33MnO₃/(001)SrTiO₃ interfaces, which is due to electric field penetration into the manganite electrode, is estimated (C _int≈4μF/cm²). At bias voltages of ± 2.5 V, the change in the permittivity of the STO and BSTO films in the heterostructures studied reaches 25 and 45%, respectively.     

Designing Molecular Printboards: A Photolithographic Platform for Recodable Surfaces

A light induced strategy for the design of β‐cyclodextrin (CD) based supramolecular devices is introduced, presenting a novel tool to fabricate multifunctional biointerfaces. Precision photolithography of a modified β‐CD was established on a light sensitive tetrazole surface immobilized on a bioinspired polydopamine (PDA) anchor layer via various shadow masks, as well as via direct laser writing (DLW), in order to craft any desired printboard design. Interfacial molecular recognition provided by light generated cavitate domains was demonstrated via spatially resolved encoding, erasing, and recoding of distinct supramolecular guest patterns. Thus, the light directed shaping of receptor monolayers introduces a powerful path to control supramolecular assemblies on various surfaces.     

Synthesis and properties of 1-(R-adamant-1-yl)-3-(1-propionylpiperidin-4-yl)ureas and 4-({4-[3-(R-adamant-1-yl)ureido]cyclohexyl}oxy)benzoic acids,efficient target-oriented human soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibitors

A reaction of R-adamant-1-yl isocyanates with 4-[(4-aminocyclohexyl)oxy]benzoic acid and 1-(4-aminopiperidin-1-yl)propan-1-one in DMF afforded corresponding ureas in 90—95% yield, the target-oriented inhibitors of epoxide hydrolase sEH. The ureas are characterized by reduced melting points and increased solubility in water, as well as by inhibitory activity in the range of 0.5—4.0 nmol L^–1.
