Angular momentum effect in prescission particle multiplicities for a light system by diffusion model

The effect of angular momentum on the competition between fission and particle emission during light system fission process was studied via fission diffusion model. The prescission particle multiplicities were found to increase with decreasing angular momentum. The experimental prescission proton and α particle multiplicities can be fitted for 10.6 MeV/nucleon ⁸⁴Kr(²⁷Al,binary fission) reaction with this model. Entrance channel effect found in [1] is proved to be angular momentum effect.     

Stability of muon-oxygen bond sites in RBa2Cu3O7

Relative energies of muon probe sites in the chain region of RBa₂Cu₃O₇ (RBCO) are investigated using a molecular quantum chemistry calculation for (Oμ)⁻ embedded in a cluster of point charges to simulate local charge distributions in RBCO. Partial Cu−O chain covalency results in a O-μ...O muon site between the chain and bridging oxygens. However, Cu-μ “hydride”-like sites are suggested by results for nominally ionic clusters.

Interpolatory integration rules and orthogonal polynomials with varying weights

We investigate which types of asymptotic distributions can be generated by the knots of convergent sequences of interpolatory integration rules. It will turn out that the class of all possible distributions can be described exactly, and it will be shown that the zeros of polynomials that are orthogonal with respect to varying weight functions are good candidates for knots of integration rules with a prescribed asymptotic distribution.Research supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (AZ: Sta 299/4-2).     

Structuring of a plasma shell expanding into a magnetized plasma atsub-Alfvenic speed

The structuring of plasma shells expanding into a magnetized plasma at velocities less than the Alfven speed is considered. The structuring phenomenon is studied with hybrid simulations. The hybrid simulations are conducted for two characteristic parameter sets: one set representative of magnetized ion experiments and one set representative of unmagnetized ion experiment. A complementary theoretical study of structuring instabilities using nonlocal, two fluid theory is discussed. Under the conditions representative of the laser-target experiments, the simulation observed structuring with azimuthal wavelengths similar to those observed in the experiment. Fluid theory, on the other hand, predicts that the most rapidly growing azimuthal modes are much shorter than observations, a result consistent with previous theoretical analyses     

X-ray fluorescence in some rare earth and high Z elements excited by 661.6 keV γ-rays

The K-shell X-ray fluorescence cross sections are determined experimentally for 10 elements such as Pb, Hg, Ir, W, Lu, Tm, Dy, Tb, Gd and Nd at excitation energy of 661.6 keV associated with γ-rays of ¹³⁷Cs radioisotope. The technique employed involves the measurement of total intensity of fluorescent K X-rays that follow the photoeffect absorption of a known flux of γ-rays using a well type Nal(Tl) detector. The obtained results are compared with the available theoretical values and other measured values.
