Additive quark model of multiparticle production and α-α interactions at ISR energies

Using a specific version of the additive quark model we compute the relative (to proton-proton) single particle rapidity distributions for particles produced in α-α interactions at CERN ISR energies.     

Implications of the Glauber model for inelastic hadron-nucleus scattering

The Glauber model for elastic hadron-nucleus scattering is extended to inelastic processes by supplementing it with the Abramovskii, Gribov, Kancheli cutting rules. Inelastic screening due to low mass states is also included. The results can be interpreted in terms of the probabilistic multiple collision model. The mutual relationship of the two approaches is discussed.     

Reactions of thioquinanthrene with alcoholates

Reactions of thioquinanthrene (1) with primary and secondary sodium alcoholates yielded sodium 4-[1-alkyl-4(1 H)-quinolon-3-ylthio]-3-quinoline-thiolates (2), which were characterized by theirS-methyl derivatives (total yields 70–90%).     

Distance-dependent quenching of Nile Blue fluorescence byN,N-diethylaniline observed by frequency-domain fluorometry

Fluorescence quenching of Nile Blue by amines is thought to be due to electron transfer to the excited dye molecule from the amine electron donor. We used electron transfer quenching of Nile blue byN,N-diethylaniline in propylene glycol as a model system for an interaction which depends exponentially on distance. We investigated the time dependence of the presumed distance-dependent process using gigahertz harmonic-content frequency-domain fluorometry. The frequency-domain data and the steady-state quantum yield were analyzed globally based on either the Smoluchowski-Collins-Kimball radiation boundary condition (RBC) model or the distancedependent quenching (DDQ) model, in which the rate of quenching depends exponentially on the flourophore-quencher distance. We performed a global analysis which included both the frequencydomain time-resolved decays and the steady-state intensities. The latter were found to be particularly sensitive to the model and parameter values. The data cannot be satisfactorily analyzed using the RBC model for quenching. The analysis shows the excellent agreement of the DDQ model with the experimental data, supporting the applicability of the DDQ model to describe the quenching by the electron transfer process, which depends exponentially on the donor-acceptor distance.     

The proton relaxation timesT 1 in binuclear copper complexes

Proton spin-lattice relaxation times as a function of temperature for two kinds of binuclear copper complexes with antiferromagnetic exchange interactionJS₁S₂ have been measured in order to understand the relaxation effects in exchange clusters. It is shown that the results reflect the coupling of the nuclear and electron subsystems; in the rangekT<J the coupling of the subsystems is modulated by temperature independent processes, in the rangekT≥J the temperature dependence of the dynamics of the electron subsystem is manifested. The response of the nuclear subsystem to the change in the nature of magnetic excitations is discovered.     

Five-nucleon spectroscopic amplitudes for 1p-shell nuclei

Spectroscopic amplitudes of the ⁵He or ⁵Li cluster in the ground and first excited states are given for lp-shell nuclei. These Spectroscopic amplitudes are calculated with the aid of intermediate-coupling wave functions of initial and final nuclei. Sum rules for pickup and stripping reactions are presented. The selectivity in excitation of the final states in pickup and stripping reactions of the ⁵He or ⁵Li cluster for some targets are discussed.     

Generalization of Cauchy–Riemann equations

An extension of the analyticity notion is proposed including Cayley numbers. Relations, originating from the Cayley–Dickson procedure, between subsequent hypercomplex analyticities are revealed. Some related topics are discussed and a specific technique is invented.     

The effect of hydrogen bromide on the methane production in the gamma radiolysis of the H2S-CH3Br system

The influence of the HBr concentration on G/CH₄/ in the radiolysis of H₂S?CH₃Br system has been investigated. The rate constant for the formation of the double negative ion /CH₃Br.H₂S/^? in the four body process was corrected.
