On the spectral radius of functional operators

An estimate of the spectral radius of functional operators generated by operators of multiplication and shift operators in the space of continuous vector functions on the interval is given. It is assumed that shifts have fixed points only at both ends of the interval and belong to one type, i.e., they are either left or right shifts.     

Waves in a Bed under Periodic Tangential Loading

The far-zone structure of the wave field in an elastic bed on a rigid foundation is considered. The wave field is generated by a tangential periodic force applied to the bed surface. The amplitude- frequency characteristics of surface vibrations for propagating modes are found. Gyroscopic waves in a rotating liquid layer

The dispersion characteristics of gyroscopic waves in an incompressible liquid layer in a cavity of a rapidly rotating cylinder are studied. It is shown that in a viscous incompressible liquid layer, an inertial wave can be represented as the sum of six helical harmonics. Free electronic states of UO2: Analysis of x-ray absorption by total multiple scattering

The experimentally observed x-ray absorption spectrum of oxygen in UO₂ is analyzed theoretically. The experimental absorption spectrum of oxygen is shown to agree well with details of the density of free p states of oxygen in the conduction band. It is found that a minimum cluster of atoms surrounding an absorbing oxygen ion required to reproduce all the details of the fine structure of the density of states at the bottom of the conduction band is of the order of 40 atoms. An analysis of the densities of the electronic states reveals the existence of hybridization of free p states of oxygen with s states of uranium in the conduction band of UO₂, as well as the exclusion of p states of oxygen by d states of uranium beyond the confines of the energy interval where they are localized. Fe-Ethylenediamine Tetraacetate Complexes Immobilized on Fibrous Anionite and Their Catalytic Activity in H2S Oxidation

The effect of the complexonate solution pH on the nature and amount of ethylenediamine tetraacetate complexes of iron, immobilized on a FIBAN A-5 fibrous anionite, and their catalytic activity in H₂S oxidation by molecular oxygen was studied.
