Considering the important damage caused by the reactive oxygen (ROS) and nitrogen (RNS) species in the human organism, the need for new therapeutic agents, with superior efficacy to the known natural and synthetic antioxidants, is crucial. Quinazolin-4-ones are known for their wide range of biological activities, and phenolic compounds display an important antioxidant effect. Linking the two active pharmacophores may lead to an increase of the antioxidant activity. Therefore, we synthesized four series of new hybrid molecules bearing the quinazolin-4-one and phenol scaffolds. Their antioxidant potential was evaluated in vitro, considering different possible mechanisms of action: hydrogen atom transfer, ability to donate electrons and metal ions chelation. Theoretical quantum and thermodynamical calculations were also performed. Some compounds, especially the ortho diphenolic ones, exerted a stronger antioxidant effect than ascorbic acid and Trolox. 相似文献

This contribution has been partly adapted from a special lecture intended to commemorate the Nobel prize, awarded one century ago, to Henri Moissan. It, is focused on fluorinated and perfluorinated molecules and macromolecules used in electrochemical energy sources, i.e. storage and conversion of energy. The latter, which figure indisputably among New Energy Technologies, include lithium batteries and fuel cells based on polymeric membranes both of which have tremendous development potential in terms of performances, safety and cost reductions. The advantages inherent in fluorine, in particular its electron-withdrawing effect and the oxidation stability that it provides to the carbon-fluorine bond, make it an asset in the search for new organic molecular and macromolecular anions with extensive delocalization of the negative charge, usable both in lithium batteries and fuel cells. As for fluorinated and perfluorinated macromolecule backbones, they are currently the reference material in fuel cell ionomeric membranes but some of them are also good candidates for use in lithium-ion batteries. The activity of Lewis (Nb2O5) and Br nsted (Amberlyst 70) acid catalysts for the cyclodehydration of xylose to furfural was studied. The nature of the acidity resulted in significant changes in the reaction mechanism. Lewis acid sites promote the formation of xylulose, while Br nsted acid sites are required to further dehydrate the sugar to furfural. Amberlyst 70 in water/toluene at 175 ℃ showed lower activity but gave a higher furfural yield. Using N2 as the stripping agent considerably improved the furfural yield and product purity in the stripped stream. Catalyst stability was also studied. 相似文献

An on-line method for the determination of airborne organophosphate esters based on dynamic sonication-assisted solvent extraction and large-volume injection (LVI) gas chromatography with nitrogen-phosphorous detection is introduced. The LVI is performed with a programmed-temperature vaporizer. The entire extracted fraction of 800 microl (hexane-methyl-tert.-butyl ether, 7:3, v/v) is introduced directly into the GC system without any clean-up step following extraction. The extraction and analysis step were completed in less than 15 min. The limit of detection of the investigated organophosphate esters was established to be in the range of 5-32 pg/filter. The correlation coefficients (r2) were investigated in the linear range study of the entire system and established to be approximately 0.9900 for all the investigated organophosphates esters. Applications of the method was demonstrated with the extraction of air samples collected onto glass fiber filters from different indoor environments. Six organophosphate esters were found at the levels 0.4-138 ng/m3. 相似文献

Treatment of polluted soil is one of the priorities in the search of a more sustainable planet. Electrochemically assisted soil remediation has been considered a good option for removing organic contaminants contained in soil, including the removal of volatile organic compounds, associated with gaseous streams produced during the treatment. Also, recently, electrochemical gas treatment technologies have been appointed as promising for the treatment of volatile organic compounds. In this work, we review the current opinion about the most recent studies in both areas. The first section focuses on the production of gaseous compounds during soil remediation by conventional and electrochemical systems. The second section describes the recent progress in the integration of adsorption and absorption with electrochemical processes. Finally, we discuss the holistic application of assisted electrochemical technologies in soil remediation, considering also emerging processes recently published in the literature. 相似文献

Food spoilage makes foods undesirable and unacceptable for human use. The preservation of food is essential for human survival, and different techniques were initially used to limit the growth of spoiling microbes, e.g., drying, heating, salting, or fermentation. Water activity, temperature, redox potential, preservatives, and competitive microorganisms are the most important approaches used in the preservation of food products. Preservative agents are generally classified into antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-browning agents. On the other hand, artificial preservatives (sorbate, sulfite, or nitrite) may cause serious health hazards such as hypersensitivity, asthma, neurological damage, hyperactivity, and cancer. Thus, consumers prefer natural food preservatives to synthetic ones, as they are considered safer. Polyphenols have potential uses as biopreservatives in the food industry, because their antimicrobial and antioxidant activities can increase the storage life of food products. The antioxidant capacity of polyphenols is mainly due to the inhibition of free radical formation. Moreover, the antimicrobial activity of plants and herbs is mainly attributed to the presence of phenolic compounds. Thus, incorporation of botanical extracts rich in polyphenols in perishable foods can be considered since no pure polyphenolic compounds are authorized as food preservatives. However, individual polyphenols can be screened in this regard. In conclusion, this review highlights the use of phenolic compounds or botanical extracts rich in polyphenols as preservative agents with special reference to meat and dairy products. 相似文献

The difficulties in synthesizing phase pure BaTiO3 doped-(Na0.5Bi0.5)TiO3 are known. In this work, we reporting the optimized pulsed laser deposition (PLD) conditions for obtaining pure phase 0.92(Na0.5Bi0.5)TiO3-0.08BaTiO3, (BNT-BT0.08), thin films. Dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of BNT-BT0.08, thin films deposited by PLD on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrates are investigated in this paper. Perovskite structure of BNT-BT0.08 thin films with random orientation of nanocrystallites has been obtained by deposition at 600 °C. The relative dielectric constant and loss tangent at 100 kHz, of BNT-BT0.08 thin film with 530 nm thickness, were 820 and 0.13, respectively. Ferroelectric hysteresis measurements indicated a remnant polarization value of 22 μC/cm2 and a coercive field of 120 kV/cm. The piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM) data showed that most of the grains seem to be constituted of single ferroelectric domain. The as-deposited BNT-BT0.08 thin film is ferroelectric at the nanoscale level and piezoelectric. 相似文献

In the late seventies, Megiddo proposed a way to use an algorithm for the problem of minimizing a linear function a 0 + a 1 x 1 + . . . + a n x n subject to certain constraints to solve the problem of minimizing a rational function of the form (a 0 + a 1 x 1 + . . . + a n x n )/(b 0 + b 1 x 1 + . . . + b n x n ) subject to the same set of constraints, assuming that the denominator is always positive. Using a rather strong assumption, Hashizume et al. extended Megiddo’s result to include approximation algorithms. Their assumption essentially asks for the existence of good approximation algorithms for optimization problems with possibly negative coefficients in the (linear) objective function, which is rather unusual for most combinatorial problems. In this paper, we present an alternative extension of Megiddo’s result for approximations that avoids this issue and applies to a large class of optimization problems. Specifically, we show that, if there is an α-approximation for the problem of minimizing a nonnegative linear function subject to constraints satisfying a certain increasing property then there is an α-approximation (1/α-approximation) for the problem of minimizing (maximizing) a nonnegative rational function subject to the same constraints.
