A limitation to the advancement of the strained-layer superlattice technology for infrared detection is unwanted high dark currents and low R0A values, especially at long-wavelengths. In this paper, we discuss dark current characteristics of LWIR InAs/GaSb type-II superlattice detectors. Comparing devices with different dominant mechanisms, a more thorough analysis at low temperatures is provided.  相似文献

We derive a conservative multispecies BGK model that follows the spirit of the original, single species BGK model by making the specific choice to conserve species masses, total momentum, and total kinetic energy and to satisfy Boltzmann’s \(\mathcal {H}\)-Theorem. The derivation emphasizes the connection to the Boltzmann operator which allows for direct inclusion of information from higher-fidelity collision physics models. We also develop a complete hydrodynamic closure via the Chapman-Enskog expansion, including a general procedure to generate symmetric diffusion coefficients based on this model. We numerically investigate velocity and temperature relaxation in dense plasmas and compare the model with previous multispecies BGK models and discuss the trade-offs that are made in defining and using them. In particular, we demonstrate that the BGK model in the NRL plasma formulary does not conserve momentum or energy in general.  相似文献

The use of CO(2) laser ablation for the patterning of capillary electrophoresis (CE) microchannels in poly(dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS) is described. Low-cost polymer devices were produced using a relatively inexpensive CO(2) laser system that facilitated rapid patterning and ablation of microchannels. Device designs were created using a commercially available software package. The effects of PDMS thickness, laser focusing, power, and speed on the resulting channel dimensions were investigated. Using optimized settings, the smallest channels that could be produced averaged 33 microm in depth (11.1% RSD, N= 6) and 110 microm in width (5.7% RSD, N= 6). The use of a PDMS substrate allowed reversible sealing of microchip components at room temperature without the need for cleanroom facilities. Using a layer of pre-cured polymer, devices were designed, ablated, and assembled within minutes. The final devices were used for microchip CE separation and detection of the fluorescently labeled neurotransmitters aspartate and glutamate.  相似文献

Reciprocal space measurements of spin diffusion in a single crystal of calcium fluoride (CaF2) have been extended to dipolar ordered states. The experimental results for the component of the spin diffusion rate parallel to the external field are D(parallel)(D)=29+/-3x10(-12) cm(2)/s for the [001] direction and D(parallel)(D)=33+/-4x10(-12) cm(2)/s for the [111] direction. The measured diffusion rates for dipolar order are faster than those for Zeeman order and are considerably faster than predicted by simple theoretical models. It is suggested that constructive interference in the transport of the two-spin states is responsible for this enhancement. As expected, the anisotropy in the diffusion rates is observed to be significantly less for dipolar order compared to the Zeeman case.  相似文献

Periodic-group-delay (PGD) dispersion-compensation modules were recently proposed as mechanisms to alleviate collision-induced timing shifts in dispersion-managed (DM) systems. Frequency and timing shifts in quasi-linear DM systems with PGDs were obtained, and it is shown that significant reductions are achieved when even a small fraction of the total dispersion is compensated for by PGDs.  相似文献

In this work we present measurements of permeability, effective porosity and tortuosity on a variety of rock samples using NMR/MRI of thermal and laser-polarized gas. Permeability and effective porosity are measured simultaneously using MRI to monitor the inflow of laser-polarized xenon into the rock core. Tortuosity is determined from measurements of the time-dependent diffusion coefficient using thermal xenon in sealed samples. The initial results from a limited number of rocks indicate inverse correlations between tortuosity and both effective porosity and permeability. Further studies to widen the number of types of rocks studied may eventually aid in explaining the poorly understood connection between permeability and tortuosity of rock cores.  相似文献

We measure the probability distribution P(zeta)--the propagator--of molecular displacements on Stokes flow through a pack of microporous glass beads and a carbonate rock. An optimized sampling of q-space is introduced for the measurement of a P(zeta) and its first moment zeta. Our results delineate and provide an understanding of the experimental regimes where background fields and surface relaxation distort the measured propagators.  相似文献

We report initial NMR studies of continuous flow laser-polarized xenon gas, both in unrestricted tubing, and in a model porous media. The study uses Pulsed Gradient Spin Echo-based techniques in the gas-phase, with the aim of obtaining more sophisticated information than just translational self-diffusion coefficients. Pulsed Gradient Echo studies of continuous flow laser-polarized xenon gas in unrestricted tubing indicate clear diffraction minima resulting from a wide distribution of velocities in the flow field. The maximum velocity experienced in the flow can be calculated from this minimum, and is seen to agree with the information from the complete velocity spectrum, or motion propagator, as well as previously published images. The susceptibility of gas flows to parameters such as gas mixture content, and hence viscosity, are observed in experiments aimed at identifying clear structural features from echo attenuation plots of gas flow in porous media. Gas-phase NMR scattering, or position correlation flow-diffraction, previously clearly seen in the echo attenuation data from laser-polarized xenon flowing through a 2 mm glass bead pack is not so clear in experiments using a different gas mixture. A propagator analysis shows most gas in the sample remains close to static, while a small portion moves through a presumably near-unimpeded path at high velocities.  相似文献
