Analyzing power in the reaction pp→dπ for beam momenta from 1.17 to 1.96 GeV/c

The analyzing power A_y0 in the reaction p↑p→dπ⁺ has been measured using the polarized proton beam at Argonne National Laboratory's zero gradient synchrotron. Data were taken at beam momenta of 1.17, 1.47, 1.70, and 1.96 GeV/c and for pion center of mass angles from 8° to 163°.     

Comment on the observation of magnetoacoustic quantum oscillations in UBe13

The origin of previously reported magnetic quantum oscillations in UBe₁₃ is possibly due to Al inclusions. New measurements of the a.c. susceptibility show Al inclusions which result from the method of crystal growth using aluminium as flux. We discuss the distribution and form of the inclusions and compare our dHvA measurements with those of the -orbits of Al.     

Large-xF spin asymmetry inπ0 production by 200-GeV polarized protons

The spin asymmetryA _N for inclusive ⁰ production by 200-GeV transversely-polarized protons on a liquid hydrogen target has been measured at Fermilab over a wide range ofx _F, with 0.5p _T<2 gev/c.=">x _F>0.3, the asymmetry rises with increasingx _F and reaches a value ofA _N=0.15±0.03 in the region 0.6x _F<0.8. this=" result=" provides=" new=" input=" regarding=" the=" question=" of=" the=" internal=" spin=" structure=" of=" transversely-polarized=">This work was performed at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, which is operated by University Research Associates, Inc., under contract DE-AC02-76CH03000 with the U.S. Department of Energy. Search for the KL-->pi 0 pi 0 e+e- decay in the KTeV experiment

The recent discovery of a large CP violating asymmetry in KL-->pi+pi-e+e- mode has prompted us to seach for the associated KL-->pi 0 pi 0 e+e- decay mode in the KTeV-E799 experiment at Fermilab. In 2.7 x 10(11) K(L) decays, one candidate event has been observed with an expected background of 0.3 event, resulting in an upper limit for the KL-->pi 0 pi 0 e+e- branching ratio of 6.6 x 10(-9) at the 90% C.L.
