Asymptotic behaviour of a Brownian motion on exterior domains

We study the asymptotic behaviour of the transition density of a Brownian motion in ?, killed at ∂?, where ? ^c is a compact non polar set. Our main result concern dimension d = 2, where we show that the transition density p ^? _t (x, y) behaves, for large t, as u(x)u(y)(t(log t)²)⁻¹ for x, y∈?, where u is the unique positive harmonic function vanishing on (∂?) ^r , such that u(x) ∼ log ∣x∣. Preparation of a chiral azadiene for the synthesis of 5-aza analogues of angucyclinones

We have developed an efficient synthesis of both enantiomers of a key azadiene for the preparation of 5-aza analogues of angucyclinones through a hetero Diels-Alder reaction. These dienes were efficiently prepared via a 4-step procedure from known and readily available chiral diketoesters.     

Asymptotic limit law for the close approach of two trajectories in expanding maps of the circle

Summary Given two pointsx, yS ¹ randomly chosen independently by a mixing absolutely continuous invariant measure of a piecewise expanding and smooth mapf of the circle, we consider for each >0 the point process obtained by recording the timesn>0 such that |f ⁿ (x)–f ⁿ (y)|. With the further assumption that the density of is bounded away from zero, we show that when tends to zero the above point process scaled by –1 converges in law to a marked Poisson point process with constant parameter measure. 本文描述高温冲击实验的技术,以及由-85℃至1070℃的铸态和锻造后的球墨铸铁的冲击性能。研究结果找到了基体主要为铁素体的球墨铸铁的两个变脆温度范围(-20℃以下和550℃至700℃之间)和一个比较具有韧性的温度范围(850℃与1050℃之间)。在这些温度范围内,曾考查试样的断口情况和断裂时的弯曲角度,并与其基体组织的变化相联系,进行讨论。最后,本文指出研究结果在球墨铸铁的应用上所起的作用,以及在球墨铸铁热加工时对于选择热加工温度的意义。     

Multi-mode wave propagation in ribbed plates: Part I,wavenumber-space characteristics

This paper addresses the issue of energy propagation features in ribbed panels over a wide frequency range. First, a tool for estimating the wave propagation characteristics of one- and two-dimensional structures by k-space analysis is presented. This tool uses a concept of Inhomogeneous Wave Correlation with sparse measured or extracted data, and leads to the estimation of θ-dependent wavenumbers. Here, the method is employed with the sparse simulated and measured normal velocities of a set of ribbed panels and new insights into their k-space behavior are highlighted. Behavior is essentially characterized at low frequencies by structural orthotropy. Comparisons with homogenized data show very good agreement. At higher frequencies, a new behavior pattern is observed and explained both numerically and experimentally. This is a multi-modal waveguide type of propagation in a direction parallel to the ribs.     

Exciton-plasma transition in GaAs

In this work, we study the stability of excitons at high density, i.e. we calculate the reduction of the exciton binding energy due to exciton-exciton interactions in a high-density exciton gas. We derive first the effective electron-hole interaction in the presence of free carriers and excitons. We use the static approximation. The exciton binding energy is calculated by the variational technique. The computations are specialized to GaAs. We investigate the critical density when the exciton binding disappears, which corresponds to the exciton plasma transition. We conclude that this transition occurs at higher density than the reverse plasma exciton transition, determined by the standard criteria a₀q_D =1.19 [Rogers F. J., Graboske H. C., Jr. and Harword D. J., Phys. Rev.A1, 1577 (1970)].     

Crystal growth and characterisation of new organic nonlinear optical materials: 6-cyano and 6-nitro-2,2-dimethyl-3,4-epoxychroman

Two chiral organic nonlinear optical materials, (3S,4S)-(−)-6-cyano-2,2-dimethyl-3,4-epoxychroman (1) and (3R,4R)-(+)-6-nitro-2,2-dimethyl-3,4-epoxychroman (2), have been grown into single crystals of cm³-size. Although both compounds crystallise in the orthorhombic P2₁2₁2₁ space group, they are not isomorphous and their crystal packings are quite different. Angle tuned type II phase-matched second harmonic generation between 0.8 and 1.064 μm has been evidenced, with effective nonlinear coefficients d_eff of 1 and 5 pm/V at 0.96 μm for 1 and 2, respectively. These values are in agreement with those estimated in the oriented gas model approximation using EFISH first order hyperpolarisability values (β₀=2.6 and 4.0×10⁻³⁰ esu for 1 and 2, respectively).
