Double-polarization asymmetries for inclusive ep scattering were measured at Jefferson Lab using 2.6 and 4.3 GeV longitudinally polarized electrons incident on a longitudinally polarized NH3 target in the CLAS detector. The polarized structure function g(1)(x,Q2) was extracted throughout the nucleon resonance region and into the deep inelastic regime, for Q(2)=0.15-1.64 GeV2. The contributions to the first moment Gamma(1)(Q2)= integral g(1)(x,Q2) dx were determined up to Q(2)=1.2 GeV2. Using a parametrization for g(1) in the unmeasured low x regions, the complete first moment was estimated over this Q2 region. A rapid change in Gamma(1) is observed for Q2<1 GeV2, with a sign change near Q(2)=0.3 GeV2, indicating dominant contributions from the resonance region. At Q(2)=1.2 GeV2 our data are below the perturbative QCD evolved scaling value.  相似文献

The anisotropy parameter (v(2)), the second harmonic of the azimuthal particle distribution, has been measured with the PHENIX detector in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=200 GeV for identified and inclusive charged particle production at central rapidities (|eta|<0.35) with respect to the reaction plane defined at high rapidities (|eta|=3-4 ). We observe that the v(2) of mesons falls below that of (anti)baryons for p(T)>2 GeV/c, in marked contrast to the predictions of a hydrodynamical model. Directed flow measurements for Lambda hyperons are presented and compared to those for protons produced in the same Au+Au collisions (2A, 4A, and 6A GeV; b<5-6 fm). The measurements indicate that Lambda hyperons flow consistently in the same direction but with smaller magnitudes. A strong positive flow [for Lambdas] has been predicted in calculations which include the influence of the Lambda-nucleon potential. The experimental flow ratio Lambda/p is in qualitative agreement with expectations (approximately 2/3) from the quark counting rule at 2A GeV but is found to decrease with increasing beam energy.  相似文献

New cross sections for the reaction e p-->e p eta are reported for total center of mass energy W = 1.5--1.86 GeV and invariant momentum transfer Q2 = 0.25--1.5 (GeV/c)(2). This large kinematic range allows extraction of important new information about response functions, photocouplings, and eta N coupling strengths of baryon resonances. Newly observed structure at W approximately 1.65 GeV is shown to come from interference between S and P waves and can be interpreted with known resonances. Improved values are derived for the photon coupling amplitude for the S11(1535) resonance.  相似文献

Production of metallic ion beams in support of the experimental program at the Coupled Cyclotron Facility at the NSCL required the development of ion sputtering feed of metallic molybdenum,nickel,uranium, and zirconium for use with the ARTEMIS ion source.The production of high intensity lower to medium charge state ions required high material consumption,posing some significant difficulties in reliable long term beam stability.Resultant and ongoing hardware and technique developments to resolve these difficulties will be presented in this poster along with interesting effects of the ion source solenoid field polarity on the sputtering process.  相似文献

The use of capillary electrophoresis (CE) as an alternative to existing methods of quantitation of carbon monoxide (CO) in hemoglobin from postmortem blood samples is presented. The isolation of heme (the portion of the hemoglobin molecule in which CO binding takes place) from hemoglobin is described. Reduced (containing no gas molecules) heme and CO-heme isolated from hemoglobin standards were successfully separated using CE. Heme and CO-heme were also isolated from blood samples of accident victims and analyzed using CE. A quantifiable difference in the CO-heme signals from blood samples containing fatal and nonfatal levels of CO was observed.  相似文献
