The increase in antibiotic resistance demands innovative strategies to combat microorganisms. The current study evaluated the antibacterial and antivirulence effects of ethanol extracts from Persea americana seeds obtained by the Soxhlet (SE) and maceration (MaE) methods. The UHPLC-DAD-QTOF analysis showed mainly the presence of polyphenols and neolignan. Ethanol extracts were not cytotoxic to mammalian cells (CC50 > 500 µg/mL) and displayed a moderate antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (IC50 = 87 and 187 µg/mL) and Staphylococcus aureus (IC50 = 144 and 159 µg/mL). Interestingly, no antibacterial activity was found against Escherichia coli. SE and MaE extracts were also able to significantly reduce the bacterial adhesion to A549 lung epithelial cells. Additionally, both extracts inhibited the biofilm growth at 24 h and facilitated the release of internal cell components in P. aeruginosa, which might be associated with cell membrane destabilization. Real-time PCR and agarose electrophoresis gel analysis indicated that avocado seed ethanol extracts (64 µg/mL) downregulated virulence-related factors such as mexT and lasA genes. Our results support the potential of bioproducts from P. americana seeds as anti-adhesive and anti-biofilm agents.  相似文献

This article describes the synthesis of new cyclic compounds able to react with amines to get nonisocyanate polyurethanes (NIPUs). The contribution of the most studied five‐membered cyclic carbonate was compared to five‐membered cyclic dithiocarbonate analogous and to a six‐membered cyclic carbonate. Difunctional reactive species were obtained by a simple substitution reaction or an efficient thiol–ene coupling reaction. The products, obtained with high yields, were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and Fourier tansform infrared spectroscopy analysis. The dicyclocarbonates were then used to synthesize NIPUs by step growth polymerization with several diamines. These materials exhibited glass transition temperatures from 19 to ?29 °C, molar mass from 1800 to 20,400 g mol?1, and a 20% mass loss temperature (Td = 20%) between 249 and 296 °C. We show that if a closed manifold M admits an ℱ-structure (not necessarily polarized, possibly of rank zero) then its minimal entropy vanishes. In particular, this is the case if M admits a non-trivial S 1-action. As a corollary we obtain that the simplicial volume of a manifold admitting an ℱ-structure is zero.?We also show that if M admits an ℱ-structure then it collapses with curvature bounded from below. This in turn implies that M collapses with bounded scalar curvature or, equivalently, its Yamabe invariant is non-negative.?We show that ℱ-structures of rank zero appear rather frequently: every compact complex elliptic surface admits one as well as any simply connected closed 5-manifold.?We use these results to study the minimal entropy problem. We show the following two theorems: suppose that M is a closed manifold obtained by taking connected sums of copies of S 4, ℂP 2, 2,S 2×S 2and the K3 surface. Then M has zero minimal entropy. Moreover, M admits a smooth Riemannian metric with zero topological entropy if and only if M is diffeomorphic to S 4,ℂP 2,S 2×S 2,ℂP 2#  2 or ℂP 2# ℂP 2. Finally, suppose that M is a closed simply connected 5-manifold. Then M has zero minimal entropy. Moreover, M admits a smooth Riemannian metric with zero topological entropy if and only if M is diffeomorphic to S 5,S 3×S 2, then on trivial S 3-bundle over S 2 or the Wu-manifold SU(3)/SO(3). In this paper we compute the number of curves of genus 2 defined over a finite field k of odd characteristic up to isomorphisms defined over k; the even characteristic case is treated in an ongoing work (G. Cardona, E. Nart, J. Pujolàs, Curves of genus 2 over field of even characteristic, 2003, submitted for publication). To this end, we first give a parametrization of all points in , the moduli variety that classifies genus 2 curves up to isomorphism, defined over an arbitrary perfect field (of zero or odd characteristic) and corresponding to curves with non-trivial reduced group of automorphisms; we also give an explicit representative defined over that field for each of these points. The neocortical commissures have a fundamental role in functional integration across the cerebral hemispheres. We investigated whether commissural projections in prefrontal cortices are organized according to the same or different rules as those within the same hemisphere, by quantitatively comparing density, topography, and laminar origin of contralateral and ipsilateral projections, labeled after unilateral injection of retrograde tracers in prefrontal areas.  相似文献

Automatic recognition of visual objects using a deep learning approach has been successfully applied to multiple areas. However, deep learning techniques require a large amount of labeled data, which is usually expensive to obtain. An alternative is to use semi-supervised models, such as co-training, where multiple complementary views are combined using a small amount of labeled data. A simple way to associate views to visual objects is through the application of a degree of rotation or a type of filter. In this work, we propose a co-training model for visual object recognition using deep neural networks by adding layers of self-supervised neural networks as intermediate inputs to the views, where the views are diversified through the cross-entropy regularization of their outputs. Since the model merges the concepts of co-training and self-supervised learning by considering the differentiation of outputs, we called it Differential Self-Supervised Co-Training (DSSCo-Training). This paper presents some experiments using the DSSCo-Training model to well-known image datasets such as MNIST, CIFAR-100, and SVHN. The results indicate that the proposed model is competitive with the state-of-art models and shows an average relative improvement of 5% in accuracy for several datasets, despite its greater simplicity with respect to more recent approaches.  相似文献

The standard Vicsek model (SVM) is a minimal non-equilibrium model of self-propelled particles that appears to capture the essential ingredients of critical flocking phenomena. In the SVM, particles tend to align with each other and form ordered flocks of collective motion; however, perturbations controlled by a noise term lead to a noise-driven continuous order–disorder phase transition. In this work, we extend the SVM by introducing a parameter αα that allows particles to be individualistic instead of gregarious, i.e. to choose a direction of motion independently of their neighbors. By focusing on the small-noise regime, we show that a relatively small probability of individualistic motion (around 10%10%) is sufficient to drive the system from a Vicsek-like ordered phase to a disordered phase. Despite the fact that the αα-extended model preserves the O(n)O(n) symmetry and the interaction range, as well as the dimensionality of the underlying SVM, this novel phase transition is found to be discontinuous (first order), an intriguing manifestation of the richness of the non-equilibrium flocking/swarming phenomenon.  相似文献
