Determination of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in sediments implicates extraction of these compounds from the matrix, which is difficult owing to strong interaction among OCPs and different constituents of the sediments, particularly organic content. The method here described is a combination of microwave assisted extraction (MAE), headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), acting in selected-ion storage mode, or GC-electron capture detector (ECD, for routine analysis). Methanol was used as extracting solvent and aliquots of the MAE extracts (after inclusion of a step for sulfur elimination when required) were used to prepare aqueous solutions for HS-SPME. A complete automation of the SPME procedure increases the sample throughput, including standard addition for calibration purpose. The procedure has the advantage of exclude additional clean-up steps and pre-concentration before SPME. Application to reference sediments of different characteristics revealed absence of significant interferences from the matrix for alpha-lindane, gamma-lindane, aldrin, dieldrin, endrin, 4,4'-DDT, 4,4'-DDD, 4,4'-DDE, heptachlor, heptachlor epoxide and good sensitivity. Detection limits ranged from 0.005 to 0.11 ng of OCP per gram of dried sediment using GC-MS and from 0.01 to 0.26 ngg(-1) using GC-ECD. The linear response ranges embraced 5-6 orders of magnitude (up to 1000 ngg(-1)) in GC-MS, being narrower for GC-ECD. The method was successfully applied to sandy and muddy sediments from Portuguese rivers estuaries, enabling quantification of seven OCPs. The method resulted effective, relatively simple and fast, being suitable for routine monitoring of residues of OCPs from sediments of different grain size and organic matter content, which influence concentration, mobility and availability of contaminants.  相似文献

Metalla-bis-dicarbollides, such as the cobalta-bis-dicarbollide (COSAN) anion [Co(C2B9H11)2], have attracted much attention in biology but a deep understanding of their interactions with cell components is still missing. For this purpose, we studied the interactions of COSAN with the glucose moiety, which is ubiquitous at biological interfaces. Octyl-glucopyranoside surfactant (C8G1) was chosen as a model as it self-assembles in water and creates a hydrated glucose-covered interface. At low COSAN content and below the critical micellar concentration (CMC) of C8G1, COSAN binds to C8G1 monomers through the hydrophobic effect. Above the CMC of C8G1, COSAN adsorbs onto C8G1 micelles through the superchaotropic effect. At high COSAN concentrations, COSAN disrupts C8G1 micelles and the assemblies become similar to COSAN micelles but with a small amount of solubilized C8G1. Therefore, COSAN binds in a versatile way to C8G1 through either the hydrophobic or superchaotropic effect depending on their relative concentrations.  相似文献

Metallacarboranes with the shape of the Greek letter θ, such as [Co(C2B9H11)2], were tested, for the first time, as efficient photoredox catalysts in the oxidation of aromatic and aliphatic alcohols in water. Their efficiency is linked to their high solubility in water, their high oxidizing power (Co4+/3+), and their absence of fluorescence on excitation, among others. In most of the studied examples, using a catalyst load of 0.4 mol % gave high yields of 90–95 % with selectivity greater than 99 %. By reducing the catalyst load to 0.01 mol %, quantitative conversion of reactants to products was achieved, in some cases with greater than 99 % yield, high catalyst efficiency reaching a turnover number of 10 000, and a higher yield with a 45 times lower concentration of catalyst. The metallacarboranes can be recovered easily by precipitation on addition of [NMe4]Cl. A pathway for the photoredox-catalyzed oxidation of alcohols is proposed.  相似文献

In an earlier study, we have shown that chemiluminescence (CL) and the total luminescence intensity (TLI) method are highly sensitive to oxidation in degradable PE. In this study, stabilised PE and PP were characterised with CL in an inert (TLI) and in an oxygen atmosphere (CL-OIT) and the results were compared to those obtained by the commonly used techniques, FT-IR (carbonyl index (CI)) and thermal analysis (DSC-OIT). PE was aged at a low temperature (80 °C) and PP was aged at temperatures between 60 and 120 °C. Non-Arrhenius behaviour was observed in the oxidation of PP. This showed the importance of aging at a low temperature to obtain realistic results. TLI and CI of stabilised PP and most of the stabilised PE gave comparable results with the same sensitivity for oxidation detection. This was in contrast to our previous results for degradable PE. However, TLI of unstabilised PE showed earlier oxidation detection than CI, which agreed with our earlier results. TLI of PE had a higher sensitivity than CL-OIT, and both TLI and CI of PP were sufficiently sensitive to detect the effect of aging at different temperatures, whereas DSC-OIT was not.  相似文献

Dissociative electron attachment (DEA) to diethyl ether yielded primarily the C(2)H(5)O(-) ion, with a strong Feshbach resonance band at 9.1 eV and a weaker shape resonance band at 3.89 eV. Very similar spectra were obtained for dibutyl ether, with C(4)H(9)O(-) bands at 8.0 and 3.6 eV. Some of these primary ions subsequently lost H(2) and yielded weaker signals of the C(2)H(3)O(-) and C(4)H(7)O(-) ions. In contrast, DEA to the cyclic ether tetrahydrofuran (THF) yielded mainly a fragment of mass 41, presumably deprotonated ketene, at 7.65 eV. The low-energy band was missing in THF. H(-) with two bands at 6.88 and 8.61 eV, and an ion of mass 43 (presumably deprotonated acetaldehyde) with two bands at 6.7 and 8.50 eV were also observed. We propose that in the primary DEA step the C-O bond is cleaved in both the open-chain and the cyclic ethers. In the open-chain ethers the excess energy is partitioned between the (internal and kinetic) energies of two fragments, resulting in an RO(-) ion cool enough to be observed. The CH(2)(CH(2))(3)O(-) ion resulting from cleavage of the C-O bond in THF contains the entire excess energy (more than 6 eV at an electron energy of 7.65 eV) and is too short-lived with respect to further dissociation and thermal autodetachment to be detected in a mass spectrometer. These findings imply that there could be a substantial difference between the fragmentation in the gas phase described here and fragmentation in the condensed phase where the initially formed fragments can be rapidly cooled by the environment.  相似文献

Er3+ photoluminescence (PL) and Yb3+ → Er3+ energy transfer (ET) phenomena in the near infrared (NIR) have been studied in three-dimensional (3-D) inverse opal (IO) structures synthesized by a colloidal/sol–gel route, starting with the deposition of polystyrene microsphere (235 nm and 460 nm diameter) direct opal templates by convective self-assembly, followed by infiltration of the interstices with Er3+/Yb3+-doped silica, titania and silica-titania sols and heat-removal of the polymeric template material. The crystalline quality of the IOs has been optimized through suitable substrate treatments, plus the control of temperature and humidity during deposition of the templates. The structural and optical properties of the 3-D opal and IO structures have been studied by field emission scanning electron microscopy and visible-NIR reflection spectroscopy, in order to assess the relationship between microstructure and the photonic properties obtained. Photonic bandgaps have been evidenced by the corresponding stop bands in the reflection spectra. The shape and the intensity of the Er3+ 4I13/2 → 4I15/2 transition at ~1.5 μm were modified in most IOs relatively to similar matrix deposits without a photonic crystal structure, particularly in the case of pure silica and titania IOs, where the PL peak narrowed and intensified. It was not possible at this stage to detect Yb3+ → Er3+ ET phenomena in the IOs structures.  相似文献
