We report on the stabilisation of the liquid-crystalline, twist-grain boundary A (TGBA) phase in mixtures of a chiral liquid crystal and surface-functionalised spherical Au nanoparticles (NPs) of 10 nm diameter. The results, obtained by calorimetric, optical, small-angle X-ray and plasmon resonance measurements, demonstrate that a TGBA phase, which is metastable for the pure liquid crystal host, can be effectively stabilised for a 3 K range in the presence of NPs. Moreover, the role of NPs size on the TGBA stabilisation is briefly discussed.  相似文献

The directed bond percolation process is studied in the presence of compressible velocity fluctuations with long-range correlations. We discuss a construction of a field theoretic action and a way of obtaining its large scale properties using the perturbative renormalization group. The paper reviews the current state of the depth-sensing indentation (sometimes called nanoindentation), where the information on material behaviour and properties is obtained from the indenter load and depth, measured continuously during loading and unloading. It is shown how the contact parameters and principal characteristics are determined using pointed or spherical indenters. Indentation tests can be used for the measurement of hardness and elastic modulus, and also of the yield stress and for the construction of stress–strain diagrams, for the determination of the work of indentation and its components. Most devices use monotonic loading and unloading, but some also enable measurement under a small harmonic signal added to the basic monotonously increasing load. This makes possible continuous measurement of contact stiffness and the study of dynamic properties and the determination of properties of coatings. One section is devoted to the measurement on viscoelastic-plastic materials, where the delayed deforming must be considered during the measurement as well as in data evaluation. Instrumented indentation can also be used for the study of creep under high temperatures. The paper also discusses the errors arising in depth-sensing measurements and informs briefly about some other possibilities of the method.  相似文献

We consider the Cauchy problem for a semilinear heat equation with a supercritical power nonlinearity. It is known that the asymptotic behavior of solutions in time is determined by the decay rate of their initial values in space. In particular, if an initial value decays like a radial steady state, then the corresponding solution converges to that steady state. In this paper we consider solutions whose initial values decay in an anisotropic way. We show that each such solution converges to a steady state which is explicitly determined by an average formula. For a proof, we first consider the linearized equation around a singular steady state, and find a self-similar solution with a specific asymptotic behavior. Then we construct suitable comparison functions by using the self-similar solution, and apply our previous results on global stability and quasi-convergence of solutions.  相似文献

Current waveforms induced by prebreakdown streamers have been measured in a short positive point-to-plane gap in hydrogen at pressures of (12.5–100) kPa over a wide range of gap voltage values. The current waveforms were measured using a small central cathode probe. The cathode probe signal corresponding to the streamer arrival to the probe is interpreted in terms of recent computer simulation models and consists of an initial sharp current spike due to displacement current followed, some 20 ns later, by a lower current hump due to the ion arrival at the cathode. Amide coupling of (Sp)‐2‐(diphenylphosphanyl)ferrocene‐1‐carboxylic acid with appropriate terminal amines mediated by 1‐hydroxybenzotriazole and a carbodiimide affords multi‐donor amides terminally functionalized with planar‐chiral (Sp)‐2‐(diphenylphosphanyl)ferrocen‐1‐yl moieties in good to excellent yields. Palladium catalysts based on these ligands efficiently promote asymmetric allylic alkylation of 1,3‐diphenylallyl acetate with in situ generated dimethyl malonate anion to give the C‐alkylated product with ees up to 93% at room temperature.
