In addition to the previously reported bioactive kahalalide F six new peptides are described. Six of these, including kahalalide F, are cyclic depsipeptides, ranging from a C(31) tripeptide to a C(75) tridecapeptide isolated from a sacoglossan mollusk, Elysiarufescens. The mollusk feeds on a green alga, Bryopsis sp., which has also been shown to elaborate some of these peptides in smaller yields, in addition to an acyclic analog of F, kahalalide G. The bioassay results of antitumor, antiviral, antimalarial, and OI (activity against AIDS opportunistic infections) tests are reported. 相似文献

Abstract— The removal of cyclobutane dimers and Pyr(6–4)Pyo photoproducts from the DNA of UV-irradiated ICR 2A frog cells was determined by radioimmunoassay. In the absence of photoreactivat-ing light, 15% of the cyclobutane dimers and 60% of the (6–4) photoproducts were removed 24 h post-irradiation with 10 J m−2 , Exposure to 30 kJ m−2 photoreactivating light resulted in removal of 80% of the cyclobutane dimers and an enhanced rate of repair of (6–4) photoproducts, resulting in a loss of 50% of these lesions in 3 h. The preferential removal of (6–4) photoproducts by excision repair resembles previously published data for mammalian cells. 相似文献

Three new indoloquinazolidine‐type alkaloids, 8,13‐dihydro‐2‐methoxyindolo[2′,3′: 3,4]pyrido[2,1‐b]quinazolin‐5(7H)‐one ( 1 ), 8,13‐dihydro‐2‐methoxy‐13‐methylindolo[2′,3′: 3,4]pyrido[2,1‐b]quinazolin‐5(7H)‐one ( 2 ), and 5,8,13,14‐tetrahydro‐2‐methoxy‐14‐methyl‐5‐oxo‐7H‐indolo[2′,3′: 3,4]pyrido[2,1‐b]quinazolim‐6‐iun chloride ( 3 ) were isolated from Araliopsis tabouensis, together with three known compounds. The structures of the new compounds were determined primarily from 1D‐ and 2D‐NMR analysis. The antimalarial activities of compounds 1 – 5 were evaluated against Plasmodium falciparum D6 and W2 clones. The IC50 values in antimalarial bioassay for compounds 2 – 5 varied from 1.8 to 4.7 μg/ml. 相似文献

Through a case study of four elementary education undergraduates, we seek new analytic constructs that could help make clearer how arguments discovered or tested in quite special cases might come to support assertions that are understood to hold in general. We began analysis from a particular standpoint: to focus fundamentally on learners’ representations and on how the learners reason from them. We have found it helpful to distinguish two perspectives to guide the subsequent analysis. On the one hand, we direct detailed attention to how learners reason, most especially on how they organize the logic of their arguments. On the other hand, we seek to understand the learners’ representations based on the way they structure them, and through the ways such structures might be reshaped or reframed over time. Based on this analysis the student subjects offer further evidence of the depth and power that students often viewed as less mathematically inclined can demonstrate in learning situations that engage them deeply. 相似文献

Roads and vehicles change the environmental conditions in which they occur. One way to categorize these effects is by the spatial scale of the cause and the impacts. Roads may be viewed from the perspective of road segments, the road network, or roads within land ownership or political boundaries such as counties. This paper examines the hypothesis that the observable impacts of roads on the environment depend on spatial resolution. To examine this hypothesis, the environmental impacts of vehicles and roads were considered at four scales in west central Georgia in and around Fort Benning: a second-order catchment, a third-order watershed, the entire military installation, and the five-county region including Fort Benning. Impacts from an experimental path made by a tracked vehicle were examined in the catchment. Land-cover changes discerned through remote sensing data over the past three decades were considered at the watershed and installation scales. A regional simulation model was used to project changes in land cover for the five-county region. Together these analyses provide a picture of the how environmental impacts of roads and vehicles can occur at different spatial scales. Following tracked vehicle impact with a D7 bulldozer, total vegetation cover responded quickly, but the plant species recovered differently. Soils were compacted in the top 10 cm and are likely to remain so for some time. Examining the watershed from 1974 to 1999 revealed that conversion from forest to nonforest was highest near unpaved roads and trails. At the installation scale, major roads as well as unpaved roads and trails were associated with most of the conversion from forest to nonforest. For the five-county region, most of the conversion from forest to nonforest is projected to be due to urban spread rather than direct road impacts. The study illustrates the value of examining the effects of roads at several scales of resolution and shows that road impacts in west central Georgia are most important at local to subregional scales. The insights from these analyses led to several questions about resource management at different spatial scales. 相似文献

Resonant inelastic x-ray scattering spectra were measured for a series of Ce solid solutions (Ce-Th and Ce-Sc) across the gamma-alpha phase transition. They reveal a well-defined feature associated with the 4f2 configuration when the incident energy is tuned to the Ce L3 preedge region. This component is normally hidden in x-ray absorption spectra because of lifetime broadening. The f1/f2 ratio estimated by resonant inelastic x-ray scattering presents a sharp drop across the gamma-alpha transition and hysteresis as a function of temperature that closely resemble the magnetization loop. These measurements confirm recent dynamical mean-field theory calculations that unexpectedly predict significant double occupancy of f orbitals in the ground state. 相似文献

An enhanced cooling design for nucleation was proposed for directional solidification based on the enhanced heat transfer through gas flow, and the effects of initial cooling conditions during directional solidification on the quality of multi-crystalline silicon for solar cells were studied. The properties of the grown grains under different initial cooling conditions were measured. The grain size, grain orientations, and the percentage of twin boundaries, as well as minority lifetime and defect density, were affected significantly by the initial cooling. The implementation of this design to a commercial furnace was also discussed, and promising results were obtained. 相似文献
