The synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic characterisation by magnetisation and inelastic neutron scattering (INS) of a mixed-valent Mn(10) supertetrahedral aggregate [Mn(III)(6)Mn(II)(4)(μ(4)-O)(4)(μ(3)-N(3))(3)(μ(3)-Br)(Hmpt)(6)(Br)]Br(0.7)(N(3))(0.3)·2MeOH·3MeCN (1) (H(3)mpt=3-methylpentan-1,3,5-triol) is reported. The magnetic core of the molecule can be described as an octahedron of six S=2 Mn(III) ions with four faces, each capped by a S=5/2 Mn(II) ion such as to form the supertetrahedron. Unlike most related complexes, the molecular symmetry is slightly reduced from approximately T(d) to C(3). The magnetic data reveal a total spin of S=22 in the ground state due to ferromagnetic exchange couplings within the molecule. The combined INS and magnetic data permits the accurate determination of the exchange coupling constants. Two types are found. The couplings between the Mn(III) ions in the inner octahedron are characterised by J(a)=18.4(3) K, whereas the couplings between the apical Mn(II) ions to the neighbouring Mn(III) ions are given by J(b)=7.3(2) K. The significantly larger coupling strength J(a) as compared to J(b), and the near-T(d) symmetry have profound consequences on the energy spectrum, which are discussed and carefully analysed. In particular, the observed INS spectra can consistently be reproduced by a simplified model in which the inner octahedron is replaced by one large spin of length S(0)=12. This model provides intuitive insight into the structure of the magnetic spectrum. Additionally, the magnetic excitations at low temperature are analysed within the frame of ferromagnetic linear spin-wave theory, which permits an analytical calculation of the energy levels. For ferromagnetic clusters, a close analogy to the Hückel method of electronic structure calculation can be drawn, which allows one to grasp the results of the spin-wave theory or the magnetic excitation spectrum, respectively, in a chemical language.  相似文献

In the solvent-free oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde using supported gold-palladium nanoparticles as catalysts, two pathways have been identified as the sources of the principal product, benzaldehyde. One is the direct catalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde by O(2), whereas the second is the disproportionation of two molecules of benzyl alcohol to give equal amounts of benzaldehyde and toluene. Herein we report that by changing the metal oxide used to support the metal-nanoparticles catalyst from titania or niobium oxide to magnesium oxide or zinc oxide, it is possible to switch off the disproportionation reaction and thereby completely stop the toluene formation. It has been observed that the presence of O(2) increases the turnover number of this disproportionation reaction as compared to reactions in a helium atmosphere, implying that there are two catalytic pathways leading to toluene.  相似文献

A study of the regioselectivity of the Claisen rearrangement of meta-allyloxy aryl ketones showed that the electron-withdrawing carbonyl group has a major influence and strongly directs rearrangement to the more hindered ortho position. However, when the ketone is part of a ring structure, its electronic effect can be negated by conversion into its triisopropylsilyl enol ether, which dramatically reverses the regiochemistry of the Claisen rearrangement. DFT calculations suggest that the effect is electronic although there is also a steric effect of the bulky silyl group. This strategy for influencing the regiochemical outcome of the Claisen rearrangement was then employed in a short synthesis of the furo[2,3-g]chromene, (-)-pestalotheol D, that confirms the absolute stereochemistry of the natural product.  相似文献

We developed a novel method to spatiotemporally control the activity of signaling molecules. A newly synthesized photocaged rapamycin derivative induced rapid dimerization of FKBP (FK-506 binding protein) and FRB (FKBP-rapamycin binding protein) upon UV irradiation. With this system and the spatially confined UV irradiation, we achieved subcellularly localized activation of Rac, a member of small GTPases. Our technique offers a powerful approach to studies of dynamic intracellular signaling events.  相似文献

We report the synthesis and catalytic activity of a polymeric imidazolium salt. In contrast to the well-known resin-supported N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), the material described herein affords a polymer with NHCs orthogonally positioned along a main chain upon generation in situ. The unique structural characteristics of the corresponding poly(NHC)s enabled the materials to display catalytic activities that were similar or superior to those displayed by monomeric analogues. Moreover, the new catalyst was successfully recovered and reused with minimal loss of performance over several cycles.  相似文献

An efficient molybdenum-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation (Mo-AAA) of cyanoester nucleophiles is reported. A number of highly functionalized branched cyanoesters containing a quaternary carbon stereocenter with a vicinal tertiary stereocenter are obtained. This method generates a number of functionalized cyanoesters in excellent yield and chemoselectivity in good to excellent diastereoselectivity and enantioselectivity.  相似文献

The structurally unique natural product telomestatin incorporates seven oxazole rings and one sulfur-containing thiazoline in a macrocyclic arrangement. The compound is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme telomerase and therefore provides a structural framework for developing new potential therapeutic agents for cancer. An efficient formal total synthesis of telomestatin is reported in which the key steps are the use of dirhodium(II)-catalyzed reactions of diazocarbonyl compounds to generate six oxazole rings, demonstrating the power of rhodium carbene methodology in organic chemical synthesis. CD spectroscopy establishes that seco-derivatives of telomestatin are potent stabilizers of G-quadruplex structures derived from the human telomeric repeat sequence. Mass spectrometry studies, confirmed by molecular dynamics simulations, provide the first evidence that high affinity binding to terminal G-tetrads in both 1:1 and 2:1 ligand complexes is mediated through the macrocycle coordinating a monovalent cation, with selectivity for the antiparallel structure.  相似文献
