Hetero-contacts are interfaces between different materials at the nanoscale leading to novel functional properties. In hetero-aggregates, primary particles of at least two different materials are mixed at primary particle or cluster level. Double flame spray pyrolysis (DFSP) is a versatile technique for the controlled synthesis of such materials. Characterization of hetero-aggregates by scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) requires acquisition and evaluation of many aggregate images in order to derive statistically significant results. Usually, STEM energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS) is used to acquire elemental maps providing the material distribution of the primary particles within hetero-aggregates. However, the acquisition of a single EDXS map takes up to several minutes. For this reason, determination of material types of primary particles from the intensity in high-angle annular dark field STEM images alone is desirable. These images can be acquired within a couple of seconds. In the present work, a method is suggested which allows for achieving this objective. It can be applied to distinguish materials with a significant difference in their atomic number and hence sufficient material contrast in the STEM images. 相似文献

Extreme halophilic archaea are a yet unexploited source of natural carotenoids. At elevated salinities, however, material corrosivity issues occur and the performance of analytical methods is strongly affected. The goal of this study was to develop a method for identification and downstream processing of potentially valuable bioproducts produced by archaea. To circumvent extreme salinities during analysis, a direct sample preparation method was established to selectively extract both the polar and the nonpolar lipid contents of extreme halophiles with hexane, acetone and the mixture of MeOH/MTBE/water, respectively. Halogenated solvents, as used in conventional extraction methods, were omitted because of environmental considerations and potential process scale-up. The HPLC-MS/MS method using atmospheric pressure chemical ionization was developed and tuned with three commercially available C40 carotenoid standards, covering the wide polarity range of natural carotenoids, containing different number of OH-groups. The chromatographic separation was achieved on a C30 RP-HPLC column with a MeOH/MTBE/water gradient. Polar lipids, the geometric isomers of the C50 carotenoid bacterioruberin, and vitamin MK-8 were the most valuable products found in bioreactor samples. In contrast to literature on shake flask cultivations, no anhydrous analogues of bacterioruberin, as by-products of the carotenoid biosynthesis, were detected in bioreactor samples. This study demonstrates the importance of sample preparation and the applicability of HPLC-MS/MS methods on real samples from extreme halophilic strains. Furthermore, from a biotechnological point-of-view, this study would like to reveal the relevance of using controlled and defined bioreactor cultivations instead of shake flask cultures in the early stage of potential bioproduct profiling. 相似文献

Herein we report on an analytical study of dry-shredded lithium-ion battery (LIB) materials with unknown composition. Samples from an industrial recycling process were analyzed concerning the elemental composition and (organic) compound speciation. Deep understanding of the base material for LIB recycling was obtained by identification and analysis of transition metal stoichiometry, current collector metals, base electrolyte and electrolyte additive residues, aging marker molecules and polymer binder fingerprints. For reversed engineering purposes, the main electrode and electrolyte chemistries were traced back to pristine materials. Furthermore, possible lifetime application and accompanied aging was evaluated based on target analysis on characteristic molecules described in literature. With this, the reported analytics provided precious information for value estimation of the undefined spent batteries and enabled tailored recycling process deliberations. The comprehensive feedstock characterization shown in this work paves the way for targeted process control in LIB recycling processes. 相似文献

The pivalates RZnOPiv?Mg(OPiv)X?n LiCl (OPiv=pivalate; R=aryl; X=Cl, Br, I) stand out amongst salt‐supported organometallic reagents, because apart from their effectiveness in Negishi cross‐coupling reactions, they show more resistance to attack by moist air than conventional organometallic compounds. Herein a combination of synthesis, coupling applications, X‐ray crystallographic studies, NMR (including DOSY) studies, and ESI mass spectrometric studies provide details of these pivalate reagents in their own right. A p‐tolyl case system shows that in [D8]THF solution these reagents exist as separated Me(p‐C6H4)ZnCl and Mg(OPiv)2 species. Air exposure tests and X‐ray crystallographic studies indicate that Mg(OPiv)2 enhances the air stability of aryl zinc species by sequestering H2O contaminants. Coupling reactions of Me(p‐C6H4)ZnX (where X=different salts) with 4‐bromoanisole highlight the importance of the presence of Mg(OPiv)2. Insight into the role of LiCl in these multicomponent mixtures is provided by the molecular structure of [(THF)2Li2(Cl)2(OPiv)2Zn]. 相似文献

Tetramethylaluminato/halogenido(X) ligand exchange reactions in half-sandwich complexes [CpRLa(AlMe4)2] are feasible in non-coordinating solvents and provide access to large coordination clusters of the type [CpRLaX2]x. Incomplete exchange reactions generate the hexalanthanum clusters [CpR6La6X8(AlMe4)4] (CpR=Cp*=C5Me5, X=I; CpR=Cp′=C5H4SiMe3, X=Br, I). Treatment of [Cp*La(AlMe4)2] with two equivalents Me3SiI gave the nonalanthanum cluster [Cp*LaI2]9, while the exhaustive reaction of [Cp′La(AlMe4)2] with the halogenido transfer reagents Me3GeX and Me3SiX (X=I, Br, Cl) produced a series of monocyclopentadienyl rare-earth-metal clusters with distinct nuclearity. Depending on the halogenido ion size the homometallic clusters [Cp′LaCl2]10 and [Cp′LaX2]12 (X=Br, I) could be isolated, whereas different crystallization techniques led to the aggregation of clusters of distinct structural motifs, including the desilylated cyclopentadienyl-bridged cluster [(μ-Cp)2Cp′8La8I14] and the heteroaluminato derivative [Cp′10La10Br18(AlBr2Me2)2]. The performance of effective core potentials adjusted at the Hartree-Fock level but applied in density functional calculations has been tested in a set of calculations using various basis sets and/or core potentials. Test molecules have been the first-row transition-metal carbonyls Cr(CO)6, Fe(CO)5, and Ni(CO)4 and the second-row carbonyls Mo(CO)6, Ru(CO)5, and Pd(CO)4. Only “small-core” potentials have been used, and these are able to reproduce molecular structures and bond energies from all-electron calculations.
