Combining the selectivity of G-quadruplex (G4) ligands with the spatial and temporal control of photochemistry is an emerging strategy to elucidate the biological relevance of these structures. In this work, we developed six novel V-shaped G4 ligands that can, upon irradiation, form stable covalent adducts with G4 structures via the reactive intermediate, quinone methide (QM). We thoroughly investigated the photochemical properties of the ligands and their ability to generate QMs. Subsequently, we analyzed their specificity for various topologies of G4 and discovered a preferential binding towards the human telomeric sequence. Finally, we tested the ligand ability to act as photochemical alkylating agents, identifying the covalent adducts with G4 structures. Arrays of anisotropic particles are sought after for applications in optics, electronics, and energy. Structures assembled from multiple micro‐ or nanoparticles could incorporate the distinct properties of each component to achieve functions not possible from single‐population assemblies. In mixed‐particle populations, the assembly forces may differ between the particle types, which will in turn influence the final assembled structures. Here, binary particle mixtures are studied and compared to assemblies formed from each of the component particles alone. The particles are partially etched nanowires (PENs, ≈300 nm diameter, and 3–8 μm overall length), which are formed by the silica coating and subsequent etching of striped metal nanowires, such that what remains are silica nanotubes containing segments of metal core (Au, Pt, Rh, or Pt/Au) with controllable location and number, spaced by “empty” regions that fill with water. Binary mixtures of PENs with different core metals and segment patterns are examined here to explore how the different core segment material, length, position, and number affects overall self‐assembly behavior. 相似文献

A chirality switch in which the intrinsic chirality of a 4,4′‐bipyridine is combined with a metal‐ion‐induced switching principle is described. In the uncomplexed state the 4,4′‐bipyridine unit, which is linked to an S,S,S,S‐configured cyclic imidazole peptide, is P‐configured. The addition of zinc ions leads to a rotation around the C?C bond axis of the 4,4′‐bipyridine and the M isomer of the metal complex is formed. By addition of a stronger complexing agent the metal ions are removed and the switch returns to its initial position. The combination of the chirality switch with a second switching unit allows the construction of a molecular pushing motor, which is driven chemically and by light. 相似文献

The synthesis and evaluation of new extractants for spent nuclear fuel reprocessing are described. New bitopic ligands constituted of phenanthroline and 1,3,5‐triazine cores functionalized by picolinamide groups were designed. Synthetic routes were investigated and optimized to obtain twelve new polyaza‐heterocyclic ligands. In particular, an efficient and versatile methodology was developed to access non‐symmetric 2‐substituted‐4,6‐di(6‐picolin‐2‐yl)‐1,3,5‐triazines from the 1,3,5‐triazapentadiene precursor in the presence of anhydride reagents. Extraction studies showed the ability of both ligand series to extract and separate actinides selectively at different oxidation states (UVI, NpV,VI, AmIII, CmIII, and PuIV) from an acidic solution (3 M HNO3). Phenanthroline‐based ligands show the most promising efficiency for use in the group actinide extraction (GANEX) process due to a higher number of donor nitrogen atoms and a suitable pre‐organization of the dipicolinamide‐1,10‐phenanthroline architecture. 相似文献

The first colour photographs were created by a process introduced by Edmond Becquerel in 1848. The nature of these photochromatic images colours motivated a debate between scientists during the XIXth century, which is still not settled. We present the results of chemical analysis (EDX, HAXPES and EXAFS) and morphology studies (SEM, STEM) aiming at explaining the optical properties of the photochromatic images (UV‐visible spectroscopy and low loss EELS). We rule out the two hypotheses (pigment and interferences) that have prevailed since 1848, respectively based on variations in the oxidation degree of the compound forming the sensitized layer and periodically spaced photolytic silver planes. A study of the silver nanoparticles dispersions contained in the coloured layers showed specific localizations and sizes distributions of the nanoparticles for each colour. These results allow us to formulate a plasmonic hypothesis on the origin of the photochromatic images colours. 相似文献

A series of new amphiphilic polymers containing various amounts of N-methyl-4-vinylpyridinium units as hydrophilic part and N-dodecylacrylamide or N-decylacrylamide units as hydrophobic part have been prepared by quaternizing the cognate copolymers. Their behaviour in aqueous solutions has been studied by viscometry, as well as by fluorescence spectroscopy and tensiometry. Results are discussed in detail and a conformational model of the macromolecules at the interface (water/methylcyclohexane) is proposed in relation to the formation of microdomains in the aqueous media. 相似文献

Fractal analysis of hydroxyapatite from nitrogen isotherms 总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10
Samples of calcium hydroxyapatite, CaHap, were prepared via a wet method and subjected to thermal treatment in air in the temperature range 100-900 degrees C. Nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms were obtained on different samples, and their data points were used to analyze the fractal properties of the obtained solids. Both FHH and Neimark's equations were used for such purpose, and the agreement or disagreements between obtained results on using both equations are discussed. Considering the appropriate values of the obtained surface fractal dimensions D, it was concluded that an appreciable defractalization of the prepared hydroxyapatite is only noted upon calcinations at 900 degrees C. Below this temperature the loss in surface area and pore volume result from simultaneous bulk and surface mass transport, which conserve the initial surface roughness and average pore radius. Calcination at 900 degrees C caused sintering to proceed via bulk mass transport, with a consequent pore widening and a decrease in surface roughness. 相似文献
