Two new bithiazole metabolites (3, 4) along with the previously reported compounds (1, 2) were isolated from the culture broth of the gliding bacterium Myxococcus fulvus collected from a Korean soil. The structures of these compounds were determined to be analogous to myxothiazole A on the basis of combined spectroscopic analyses. The new compounds exhibited significant cytotoxicity and moderate antifungal activity against the mouse fibloblast cell-line L929 and Candida albicans, respectively. These data were consistent with the previous finding that the bioactivity of myxothiazoles was highly dependent on the presence of terminal methoxy enol functionality.  相似文献

Computational analyses of the five possible functional group rotations in 1,3,5-tris(pentaphenylphenyl)benzene (1) were conducted at three disparate levels of theory: AM1, HF/STO-3G, and B3LYP/6-31G(d). The ground state and transition state structures were located for all of the conformational reactions, and the free energies of activation for these processes were calculated. In addition, compound 1 was resolved by low-temperature chromatography on a chiral support, and its barrier to racemization was determined by dynamic chromatography. These computational and experimental results are compared with data from dynamic NMR studies of 1 in the literature.  相似文献

Highly branched cyclic dextrin derivatives (CH‐CDex) that are partly substituted with cholesterol groups have been synthesized. The CH‐CDex forms monodisperse and stable nanogels with a hydrodynamic radii of ≈10 nm by the self‐assembly of 4–6 CH‐CDex macromolecules in water. The CH‐CDex nanogels spontaneously trap 10–16 molecules of fluorescein isothiocyanate‐labeled insulin (FITC‐Ins). The complex shows high colloidal stability: no dissociation of trapped insulin is observed after at least 1 month in phosphate buffer (0.1 M , pH 8.0). In the presence of bovine serum albumin (BSA, 50 mg · mL?1), which is a model blood system, the FITC‐Ins trapped in the nanogels is continuously released (≈20% at 12 h) without burst release. The high‐density nanogel structure derived from the highly branched CDex significantly affects the stability of the nanogel–protein complex.

A sharp feature in the charge-density excitation spectra of single-crystal MgB2, displaying a remarkable cosinelike, periodic energy dispersion with momentum transfer (q) along the c* axis, has been observed for the first time by high-resolution nonresonant inelastic x-ray scattering (NIXS). Time-dependent density-functional theory calculations show that the physics underlying the NIXS data is strong coupling between single-particle and collective degrees of freedom, mediated by large crystal local-field effects. As a result, the small-q collective mode residing in the single-particle excitation gap of the B pi bands reappears periodically in higher Brillouin zones. The NIXS data thus embody a novel signature of the layered electronic structure of MgB2.  相似文献

The USDA-ARS National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS) maintains more than 200 Allium sativum (garlic) accessions at the Western Regional Plant Introduction Station in Pullman, WA. All accessions must be grown out in the field annually since garlic plants from these accessions do not reliably produce seeds and bulbs do not store well. Shoot tips excised from garlic cloves can be successfully cryopreserved using either Plant Vitrification Solution 2 (PVS2; 15 percent v/v DMSO, 15 percent v/v ethylene glycol, 30 percent v/w glycerol, 0.4 M sucrose) or Plant Vitrification Solution 3 (PVS3; 50 percent v/w sucrose, 50 percent v/w glycerol). We compared regrowth of shoot tips representing diverse garlic germplasm after exposure to either PVS2 or PVS3 during the cryopreservation procedure. At the USDA-ARS National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation, a component of the NPGS, we consider accessions successfully preserved if a minimum of 40 percent of explants exhibit regrowth after liquid nitrogen exposure and at least 60 viable shoot tips remain in long-term storage. Ten of twelve diverse garlic accessions were successfully cryopreserved using either PVS2 or PVS3 as cryoprotectants. Five genotypes had the best post liquid nitrogen regrowth after exposure to PVS2, four genotypes had the best regrowth after exposure to PVS3, and three genotypes performed equally well using either cryoprotectant solution. This project is part of an ongoing program to cryopreserve accessions of NPGS clonal crop collections.  相似文献
