The neutral substances of the oleoresin ofAbies sibirica

Summary The high-boiling neutral fraction of the oleoresin ofAbies sibirica Ldb. contains abientol C₂₀H₃₄O, abietinal C₂₀H₃₀O, abietinol C₂₀H₃₂O, a polymer (C₂₀H₃₄O)₄, and two previously unknown compounds: a diterpene alcohol C₂₀H₃₄O, which we have called isoabienol, and a hydroxyketone C₁₈H₃₀O₂. Conclusions From the oleoresin ofAbies sibirica Ledeb. have been isolated manoyl oxide and a new diterpene alcohol with the composition C₂₀ H₃₄ O (I) which we have called neoabienol. Chemical modification of poly(vinyltrimethylsilane) and poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne) using highly reactive metallating systems

Poly(vinyltrimethylsilane) and poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne) are metallated using normal and secondary butyllithium chelate complexes with tetramethylethylenediamine and superbases based on complexes of normal and secondary butyllithium with potassium tert-pentoxide as metallating agents. Optimal conditions ensuring metallation of poly(vinyltrimethylsilane) and poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne) with a high yield without degradation of macrochains are determined. Poly(vinyltrimethylsilane) and poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne) are functionalized via reactions of metallated polymers with CO₂, trimethylsilyl chlorosulfone, diethyl disulfide, and ethylene oxide. COOH, SO₃H, OH, and thioester groups are introduced into poly(vinyltrimethylsilane), and SO₃H and COOH groups are incorporated into poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne). Upon introduction of carboxyl groups into poly(vinyltrimethylsilane), its hydrophilicity and permselectivity with respect to H₂O/N₂, H₂O/H₂, and H₂O/CH₄ pairs increase. The introduction of SO₃H groups into poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne) and poly(vinyltrimethylsilane) leads to the appearance of proton conductivity of these polymers.     

Bromination of poly[1-(trimethylsilyl)-1-propyne] with different microstructures and properties of bromine-containing polymers

The interaction between poly[1-(trimethylsilyl)-1-propyne] with different microstructures and bromine has been studied in carbon tetrachloride and chlorobenzene at 25–120°C. Depending on the process conditions, polymers containing up to 26 wt % bromine are formed; that is, every other unit of the polymer chain is brominated. Polymers enriched with cis structures are brominated through trimethylsilyl groups, and the process is unaccompanied by polymer chain degradation. The bromination of samples containing predominantly trans-structures is nonselective, and the reaction is accompanied by polymer degradation. The solubility of brominated poly[1-(trimethylsilyl)-1-propyne] in different media and the gas permeability of films made of this polymer are estimated.
