Rigidity and finiteness under Ricci curvature and volume controls

Consider the class of closed Riemannian manifolds M of dimension dim(M) \geqq 3 \dim(M) \geqq 3 , Ricci curvature Ric(M) \geqq -(n - 1) \textrm{Ric}(M) \geqq -(n - 1) , diameter diam(M) < D and almost maximal volume. We show that the isomorphism types of fundamental groups characterize the diffeomorphism types of manifolds in such a class. In particular, it can be viewed as a generalization of the well-known Mostow‘s rigidity theorem and a finiteness theorem.     

Prime ideals in restricted differential operator rings

In this paper restricted differential operator rings are studied. A restricted differential operator ring is an extension of ak-algebraR by the restricted enveloping algebra of a restricted Lie algebra g which acts onR. This is an example of a smash productR #H whereH=u (g). We actually deal with a more general twisted construction denoted byR * g where the restricted Lie algebra g is not necessarily embedded isomorphically inR * g. Assume that g is finite dimensional abelian. The principal result obtained is Incomparability, which states that prime idealsP ₁ ⊆P ₂ ⊂R * g have different intersections withR. We also study minimal prime ideals ofR * g whenR is g-prime, showing that the minimal primes are precisely those having trivial intersection withR, that these primes are finite in number, and their intersection is a nilpotent ideal. Prime and primitive ranks are considered as an application of the foregoing results.     

Theoretical Research on a Kind of Quantum Left-handed Metamaterial

Recently, research on left-handed materials （LHMs） has attracted considerable attentions. The LHMs are a kind of metameterial which have negative permittivity and negative permeability, which lead to negative refractive index in a frequency range. The LHMs that have been available so far are in the microwave range and are usually composed of classical particles, such as split-ring resonators. Some quantum phenomena such as spontaneous emission of atoms in the LHMs which are considered to be ＇classical background＇ have also been investigated. Many potential applications of LHMs have been proposed, such as superlenses which, in principle, can achieve arbitrary subwavelength resolution.     

Structural evolution in amorphous silicon and germanium thin films.

The structural evolution in amorphous silicon and germanium thin films has been investigated by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) in conjunction with autocorrelation function (ACF) analysis. The results established that the structure of as-deposited semiconductor films is of a high density of nanocrystallites embedded in the amorphous matrix. In addition, from ACF analysis, the structure of a-Ge is more ordered than that of a-Si. The density of embedded nanocrystallites in amorphous films was found to diminish with annealing temperature first, then to increase. The conclusions also corroborate well with the results of diminished medium-range order in annealed amorphous films determined previously by a variable coherence microscopy method.     

GAUSSIAN WHITE NOISE CALCULUS OF GENERALIZED EXPANSION

A new framework of Gaussian white noise calculus is established, in line with generalized expansion in [3, 4, 7]. A suitable frame of Fock expansion is presented on Gaussian generalized expansion functionals being introduced here, which provides the integral kernel operator decomposition of the second quantization of Koopman operators for chaotic dynamical systems, in terms of annihilation operators dt and its dual, creation operators t*.     

Synthesis and biological activity of S-oxo-[(methylthio)-methyl]cysteinols

A convenient route was developed to synthesize S-oxo-[(methylthio)-methyl]cysteinols on a large scale from cheap l-serine as the starting material. The structures of diastereoisomers were determined by NMR, CD spectra, and X-ray diffraction analysis. All four diastereoisomers were examined for their ability to inhibit certain bacteria from growing.     

Three New Polyoxygenated Steroids from Two Species of the South China Sea Gorgonian Muricella flexuosa and Menella verrucosa Brundin

Three new polyoxygenated steroids, muricesteroid ( 1 ), and menellsteroids A ( 2 ) and B ( 3 ), were isolated from two species of the South China Sea gorgonian Muricella flexuosa and Menella verrucosa Brundin , respectively. The structures of these new compounds were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis, chemical methods and comparison with known related compounds.     

SiOx纳米管的制备及其发光特性

以液态金属镓为媒介,利用热蒸发法合成大量非晶SiOx纳米管,这些纳米管管径均匀分布,平均约80 nm,长度大于10μm,且管内外径比例较小．分析发现,在实验过程中,熔入金属镓液滴中的硅元素和氧元素结合并从液滴的表面饱和析出,形成以镓为中心的非晶SiOx纳米管状结构．在室温中,利用260 nm的激发光源激发SiOx纳米管,发现在蓝光波段附近发出强而稳定的PL谱线,这可能与样品中的氧缺陷和空位有关．     

A finite model property for RMImin

It is proved that the variety of relevant disjunction lattices has the finite embeddability property. It follows that Avron's relevance logic RMI _min has a strong form of the finite model property, so it has a solvable deducibility problem. This strengthens Avron's result that RMI _min is decidable. Frequency dependence of ionic conductivity and dielectric relaxation studies in Na3H(SO4)2 single crystal

Electrical impedance measurements of Na₃H(SO₄)₂ were performed as a function of both temperature and frequency. The electrical conductivity and dielectric relaxation have been evaluated. The temperature dependence of electrical conductivity reveals that the sample crystals transformed to the fast ionic state in the high temperature phase. The dynamical disordering of hydrogen and sodium atoms and the orientation of SO₄ tetrahedra results in fast ionic conductivity. In addition to the proton conduction, the possibility of a Na⁺ contribution to the conductivity in the high temperature phase is proposed. The frequency dependence of AC conductivity is proportional to ω^s. The value of the exponent, s, lies between 0.85 and 0.46 in the room temperature phase, whereas it remains almost constant, 0.6, in the high-temperature phase. The dielectric dispersion is examined using the modulus formalism. An Arrhenius-type behavior is observed when the crystal undergoes the structural phase transition.
