It was reported in a previous study that simulated guided wave axial transmission velocities on two-dimensional (2D) numerically reproduced geometry of long bones predicted moderately real in vitro ultrasound data on the same bone samples. It was also shown that fitting of ultrasound velocity with simple analytical model yielded a precise estimate (UTh) for true cortical bone thickness. This current study expands the 2D bone model into three dimensions (3D). To this end, wave velocities and UTh were determined from experiments and from time-domain finite-difference simulations of wave propagation, both performed on a collection of 10 human radii (29 measurement sites). A 3D numerical bone model was developed with tuneable fixed material properties and individualized geometry based on X-ray computed tomography reconstructions of real bones. Simulated UTh data were in good accordance (root-mean-square error was 0.40 mm; r(2)=0.79, p<0.001) with true cortical thickness, and hence the measured phase velocity can be well estimated by using a simple analytical inversion model also in 3D. Prediction of in vitro data was improved significantly (by 10% units) and the upgraded bone model thus explained most of the variability (up to 95% when sites were carefully matched) observed in in vitro ultrasound data. 相似文献

A three-dimensional (3D) spherical acoustic cloak is designed using an acoustic layered system, which can hide an object from
the detection of acoustic wave in arbitrary direction. The cloak is constructed from multilayered concentric spherical shells
filled with homogeneous isotropic materials. Based on spherical wave expansion method, we confirm that significant low-reflection,
acoustic-shadow-reducing, and wavefront-bending effects in 3D space can be achieved by the proposed cloak. The angle distribution
of the scattered wave is further evaluated by the far-field scattering pattern. In addition, the cloak is demonstrated to
work efficiently in a wide bandwidth in which the cloaking efficiency decreases with increasing frequency. This study may

In this paper, we propose a DFB laser with a horn ridge waveguide (HRW) to suppress the longitudinal spatial hole burning (LSHB) effect in the lasers cavity, thus to reduce the rolloff at low frequency. The simulation result shows that HRW DFB lasers could significantly suppress the LSHB effect and its modulation bandwidth is increased by 14% comparing with the conventional straight ridge waveguide (RW) DFB lasers when the normalized coupling coefficient (κL) is 3.0. The calculated eye diagrams of HRW DFB lasers under direct 25 Gbps modulation have clearer opening than that of the conventional RW DFB lasers. Docetaxel is a semi-synthetic product derived from the needles of the European yew. It is an antineoplastic agent belonging to the taxoid family. The interaction between docetaxel and human serum albumin (HSA) has been investigated systematically by the fluorescence quenching technique, synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy, ultraviolet (UV)-vis absorption spectroscopy, circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) under physiological conditions. Our fluorescence data showed that HSA had only one docetaxel binding site and the binding process was a static quenching procedure. According to the Van’t Hoff equation, the thermodynamic parameters standard enthalpy (ΔH0) and standard entropy (ΔS0) were calculated to be −41.07 KJ mol−1 and −49.72 J mol−1 K−1. These results suggested that hydrogen bond was the predominant intermolecular force stabling the docetaxel-HSA complex. The data from the CD, FT-IR and UV-vis spectroscopy supported the change in the secondary structure of protein caused by the interaction of docetaxel with HSA. 相似文献

Lasers from Yb:YAG ceramic at different temperature were reported in this paper. The Yb:YAG ceramic laser with active-mirror structure was end-pumped by a laser diode whose central wavelength was 940 nm. At 80 K, with doping concentration of 5 at % Yb:YAG ceramic slab, output energy of 0.68 J at 10 Hz repetition rate was obtained under the pump energy of 2.49 J, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 40% and a conversion efficiency of 27.3%, respectively. 相似文献

By using both acousto-optic (AO) modulator and V3+:YAG saturable absorber, a diode-pumped doubly Q-switched a-cut Nd:GdVO4 laser at 1.34 μm is realized. The average output power and the pulse width for different AO repetition rate f have been measured.
The experimental results show that the doubly Q-switched laser can compress the pulse width and improve the pulsed peak power
in comparison to the singly Q-switched laser with AO or V3+:YAG saturable absorber. At the pump power 10.34 W and f = 10 kHz, the greatest pulse width compression ratio 72% and the highest peak power improvement 8.8 times have been obtained,

Strain-compensated Ge/Si0.15Ge0.85 multiple quantum wells were grown on an Si0.1>Ge0.9 virtual substrate using ultrahigh vacuum chemical vapor deposition technology on an n+-Si(001) substrate. Photoluminescence measurements were performed at room temperature, and the quantum confinement effect of the direct-bandgap transitions of a Ge quantum well was observed, which is in good agreement with the calculated results. The luminescence mechanism was discussed by recombination rate analysis and the temperature dependence of the luminescence spectrum. 相似文献

In this study, we report our new finding of bipolar resistance effect (BRE) in quantum dots (QDs)-embedded structure of Zn/CdSe/Si. This effect features a remarkable linear resistance change and an enhanced BRE when a laser moves along the surface of the structure.
