Linear Relations, Differential Inclusions, and Degenerate Semigroups

A generalized linear differential equation in a Banach space is studied. The construction of a phase space and solutions with the help of the spectral theory of linear operators, ergodic theorems, and degenerate semigroups of linear operators is carried out.     

Study of temperature fields in a rectangular plate with a temperature-dependent internal source with the aid of fast expansions

The approximate analytic solution of the problem of temperature field in a rectangular plate with an internal temperature- dependent source is obtained by the method of fast expansions. The critical value of a parameter characterizing heat release, which fundamentally affects the analytic solution form, is found. The maximum solution error is shown to amount to 0.02 at the consideration of the first three terms of the Fourier series in fast expansion. Temperature fields are presented, and an analysis of the influence of the plate sizes and the heat release magnitude on their formation is given. Recommendations on the plate shape choice are given.     

Analytic description of the domain of existence of triple configurations with a negative slope of reflected shock

We consider triple configurations of compression shocks in supersonic flows of an inviscid perfect gas. The boundaries of the domain of existence of shock-wave structures of a new type (triple configurations with a negative slope of the reflected shock or negative triple configurations) on a set of flow parameters have been theoretically investigated.     

Catalysts Based on Fiberglass Support: IV. Platinum Catalysts Based on Fiberglass Support in Oxidation of Hydrocarbons (Propane and n-Butane) and Sulfur Dioxide

Platinum catalysts (0.003–0.52% Pt) based on leached sodium silicate and boron silicate fiberglass supports are studied in the complete oxidation of hydrocarbons (n-butane and propane) and high-temperature SO₂ oxidation. It was shown that platinum localized in the bulk of the glass matrix show a higher activity and thermal stability than metal particles supported on the outer surface of fiberglass. The experimental results for hydrocarbon oxidation on platinum-containing fiberglass gauzes at short contact times are discussed.     

XPS study of the oxidation of nanosize Ni/Si(100) films

The XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) study of nickel oxide nanolayers obtained by magnetron sputtering of the metal and its subsequent oxidation in air at different temperatures (400°C and 1000°C) was performed. Silicon(100) was used as a substrate. Surface of the initial Ni/Si structure was shown to contain not only Ni metal, but also the NiO oxide. Annealing at 400°C results in a complete oxidation of the metal film. At a high-temperature annealing (1000°C), nickel interacts both with oxygen and silicon substrate to form NiSi silicide and a composite Ni-Si-O phase in transition layer. Electronconductivity of NiO films is determined by intercrystallite barriers. Activation energies of film electroconductivity in model gases (O₂, Ar, H₂) were found.     

Ion-selective and complexation properties, vibrational spectra, and crystal and molecular structure of 1,5-bis[2-(hydroxyethoxyphosphoryl)phenoxy]-3-oxapentane

The ion-selective properties of 1,5-bis[2-(hydroxyethoxyphosphoryl)phenoxy]-3-oxapentane H₂R² have been described. The molecular and crystal structure of H₂R² has been determined by powder X-ray crystallography and IR spectroscopy. The molecule has the twofold symmetry axis, orthorhombic crystal system, space group Pbcn, a = 16.830(2) ?, b = 8.866(15) ?, c = 15.7190(2) ?, V = 2346.1(6) ?³, Z = 4. A new CuR² · 2H₂O complex has been synthesized and characterized.     

Radiative decay ofJ/ψ into γ π+ π−

The radiative decayJ/ψ → γ π⁺ π^? has been studied using the 8.6 millionJ/ψ produced in the DM2 experiment at the DCIe ⁺e^? storage rings at Orsay. The π⁺ π^? mass spectrum shows a cleanf ₂ (1270) signal, and the possible presence of two other states at thef ₂ (1720) andf ₄ (2030) masses. For thef ₂ (1270), the branching ratio BR(J/ψ →γf)xBR(f→π⁺ π^?) is measured to be (7.50±0.30±1.12)×10^?4, and the spin analysis prefers theJ=2 assignment, with helicity parametersx=0.83±0.06 andy=0.01±0.06. The existence of higher mass states is discussed.     

Short range order in (Ni65Fe35)77B23 metallic glass by neutron diffraction

The S(Q) structure factor of (Ni₆₅Fe₃₅)₇₇B₂₃ metallic glass was measured by time-of-flight neutron diffraction up to 24 Å^?1 momentum transfer. The distribution of transition metal-boron and transition metal-transition metal first neighbour atom pairs is resolved in the distribution function obtained from S(Q) by Fourier transformation. The distances of these first neighbours pairs, the width of their distribution, the partial coordination numbers and the short range order parameter are given. The results on (Ni₆₅Fe₃₅)₇₇B₂₃ and on the previously studies Fe₈₁B₁₉ amorphous alloys are compared.
