2,6-Bis(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl)cycloalkanone: Synthesis and prospects for use as stabilizer for ethylene-propylene rubber

A phenolic antioxidant was synthesized by the reaction of N,N-dimethyl(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl) amine with cyclohexanone. The infl uence of temperature, reactant ratio, pressure, and time on the yield of the product, 2,6-bis(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl)cyclohexanone, was examined. The antioxidant obtained, taken both separately and in synergistic mixtures with alkylphenol and phosphites, showed high performance in inhibition of the thermal aging of ethylene-propylene rubber.

Reactions of 2,4-Bis-(3,5-Di-Tert-Butyl-4-Hydroxy-Phenyl)-1,3-Dithioxhosphetane with Certain Nucleo-Philic Reagents

Abstract

2,4-bis-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-l,3-di-thioxaphosphetane (I) has been prepared by interaction of 2,4-di-tert-butyl phenol with phosphorus pentasulfide in cumene as solvent. Reactions of I with alcohols and diole are shown to proceed readily with formation of the appropriate dithiophosphonic acids:     

Correlation between the Structure of Thioureas and Their Reactivity toward Hydroperoxides and Peroxy Radicals

The behavior of thiourea derivatives in reactions simulating oxidative processes in carbon-chain polymers was studied. Based on the kinetic data obtained (reaction rate constants), correlations were revealed between the structures of thioureas and their reactivity in inhibition of oxidation of organic substrates.     

Polyfunctional complex sulfur-containing additives to SKI-3 rubber and vulcanizates thereof

The performance of new polyfunctional additives containing bis(2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) polysulfide and dicyclopentadiene-sulfur copolymer was studied with respect to SKI-3 and vulcanizates thereof. These additives act not only as stabilizers but also as vulcanizing agents improving a number of physicomechanical characteristics of the vulcanizates.
