Biocomposites were fabricated using poly(propylene) carbonate as matrix and cellulosic polysaccharide banana (Musa acuminate) peel powder as filler in varying concentrations (5–25?wt.%) and were characterized for their functional properties. Microscopic analysis indicated the uniform distribution and existence of microfibrils in the filler. The thermal stability of the composites was lower than the matrix till 320?°C, beyond which it increased. The visco-elastic and mechanical behavior of the biocomposites was found to be enhanced with the addition of fillers. Thus, with better thermal, visco-elastic, and mechanical properties, the biocomposite films can be a replacement for the non-biodegradable polymers for packaging applications.  相似文献

Three heteroleptic copper(II) complexes of the type [Cu(L1–3)(cf)(ClO4)] ( 1 – 3 ), where cf = ciprofloxacin, have been synthesized using pyridazine‐based ligands 3‐chloro‐6‐(salicylidenehydrazinyl)pyridazine (HL1), 3‐chloro‐6‐(4‐diethylaminosalicylidenehydrazinyl)pyridazine (HL2) and 3‐chloro‐6‐(5‐bromosalicylidenehydrazinyl)pyridazine (HL3). Electronic spectral data and magnetic moment values suggest octahedral geometry for the synthesized copper(II) complexes. Electrochemical data of the copper(II) complexes present an irreversible one‐electron reduction wave in the cathodic potential region (Epc) between ?0.631 and ?0.670 V. Frontier molecular orbital calculations were carried out, and the obtained low‐energy gap supports the bio‐efficacy of the complexes. All the complexes were screened for their in vitro cytotoxicity activity against three human cancerous (breast adenocarcinoma (MCF‐7), hepatoma (HepG‐2) and cervical (HeLa)) and one non‐cancerous (non‐tumorigenic human dermal fibroblast (NHDF)) cell lines using MTT assay, in which complex 2 exhibited higher activity. The apoptosis induction by the complexes was analysed using the Hoechst dye staining method with MCF‐7 cell line, which indicates higher apoptotic activity of complex 2 . A molecular docking study was carried out to ascertain the binding affinity of the synthesized heteroleptic copper(II) complexes with phosphoinositide 3‐kinase gamma (PI3Kγ) receptor.  相似文献

Diindeno-fused dibenzo[a,h]anthracene 6 and diindeno-fused dibenzo[c,l]chrysene 9 contain the key moieties 1,4-quinodipropene (1,4-QDP) and 2,6-naphthoquinodipropene (2,6-NQDP), respectively, and they both have an open-shell singlet ground state. The latter compound exhibits a strong biradical character and interesting properties, including a low ΔET−S (2.44 kcal mol−1), a small HOMO–LUMO gap (1.06 eV), a wide photoabsorption range (250–1172 nm), and a large two-photon absorption cross-section (σ=1342±56 GM). This work verifies that 6 has a slightly larger HOMO–LUMO gap and ΔET−S than its helical isomer diindeno[2,1-f:1′,2′-j]picene (DIP), but is a much stronger two-photon absorber, verifying the important effect of geometry on the photophysical properties.  相似文献

Herein, we report a one-pot synthesis of highly stable Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) using 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) as a reductant and polystyrene sulfonate (PSS-) as a dopant for PEDOT and particle stabilizer. The synthesis demonstrated in this work entails the reduction of HAuCl4 using EDOT in the presence of PSS-. The formation of AuNPs with concomitant EDOT oxidation is followed by UV-vis spectroscopy at various time intervals. Absorption at 525 nm is due to the surface plasmon band of AuNPs (violet), and broad absorption above 700 nm is due to oxidized PEDOT that was further characterized to be in its highly oxidized (doped) state, using FT-Raman spectroscopy. Transmission electron microscopy shows a polydisperse nature of the particles, and the selected area electron diffraction pattern reveals the polycrystalline nature of AuNPs. With stabilizers such as sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) (green) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) (blue), the absorbance around 525 nm was found to be negligibly small, while PSS- showed high absorbance at 525 nm (violet) and above 700 nm (oxidized PEDOT). PSS- also allows complete oxidation of EDOT and serves as an effective dopant for PEDOT. While AuNPs covered by PEDOT alone cannot be dispersed in aqueous solutions, PSS- renders Au-PEDOT water soluble. The hydrodynamic diameter of the nanocomposite estimated from the dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements increases in the order Na-PSS < SDS < PVP. Interestingly, the color of the Au(nano)-PEDOT/PSS- aqueous dispersion changed reversibly between violet and blue and vice versa on addition of NaOH and HCl, respectively. This reversible color change appears to be a combination effect of acid/base on the properties of PEDOT, in turn changing the environment around the embedded AuNPs. The nanoparticle dispersion also exhibited very high stability in presence of 3.0 M NaCl. Remarkably, the nanocomposite Au(nano)-PEDOT/PSS- was found to function as an effective catalyst to activate the reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol in the presence of excess NaBH4, and the calculated apparent rate constant value of 4.39 x 10-2 s-1 is found to be higher than those obtained using other nanocomposites with SDS and PVP and comparable to the values reported in the case of other encapsulants.  相似文献

Optically transparent semiorganic nonlinear optical bulk single crystal of l-ornithine monohydrochloride (LOMHCL) of dimension 11×3×2 mm3 has been grown from its aqueous solution by slow solvent evaporation technique. The grown crystal was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction to confirm the crystal structure. Investigation has been carried out to assign the vibrational frequencies of the grown crystals by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy technique. Thermal behavior of the grown crystals was studied by thermogravimetric analysis. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of LOMHCL was determined by Kurtz and Perry powder technique. The optical absorption study confirms the suitability of the crystal for device applications. The mechanical properties of the grown crystals have been studied using Vickers microhardness tester. Dielectric and photoconductivity studies are also carried out for the grown samples.  相似文献

Wurtzite ZnO nanonail structures have been grown on sapphire substrate by simple thermal evaporation of Zn powder in oxygen ambient. Growth parameters such as growth temperature and oxygen gas flow have been examined for the growth of nanonail structure. It is found that the nanonail structures repeatedly grow under a certain relation between the growth temperature and the oxygen flow. Also, at higher growth temperature, the nanonails grow in the form of branched‐structures. The grown ZnO nanonails have hexagonally well‐faceted cap and grow mostly perpendicular to the sapphire substrate. To understand the origin of transmembrane potentials, formation of transient pores, and the movement of anions and cations across lipid membranes, we have performed systematic atomistic molecular dynamics simulations of palmitoyl-oleoyl-phosphatidylcholine (POPC) lipids. A double bilayer setup was employed and different transmembrane potentials were generated by varying the anion (Cl-) and cation (Na+) concentrations in the two water compartments. A transmembrane potential of approximately 350 mV was thereby generated per bilayer for a unit charge imbalance. For transmembrane potential differences of up to approximately 1.4 V, the bilayers were stable, over the time scale of the simulations (10-50 ns). At larger imposed potential differences, one of the two bilayers breaks down through formation of a water pore, leading to both anion and cation translocations through the pore. The anions typically have a short residence time inside the pore, while the cations show a wider range of residence times depending on whether they bind to a lipid molecule or not. Over the time scale of the simulations, we do not observe the discharge of the entire potential difference, nor do we observe pore closing, although we observe that the size of the pore decreases as more ions translocate. We also observed a rare lipid flip-flop, in which a lipid molecule translocated from one bilayer leaflet to the opposite leaflet, assisted by the water pore.  相似文献
