Chemical consequences of3 5Cl(n,p)3 5 S transformation in alkali chloride matrix

A review on the studies of chemical consequences of recoil sulfur,^{3 5}S, produced by the nuclear reaction^{3 5}Cl(n, p)^{3 5} S in alkali chloride matrices is presented.     

Extreme point linear fractional functional programming

This paper deals with the optimization of the ratio of two linear functions subject to a set of linear constraints with the additional restriction that the optimal solution is to be an extreme point of another convex polyhedron. In this paper, an enumerative procedure for solving such type of problems is developed. For an illustration, a numerical example is also provided.     

Functional analytic analysis of a pursuit problem

Some new results related to pursuit problems considered in Ref. 1 are presented here. The present formulation of the problem is more general than that of Ref. 1 in some respects. It allows one to consider magnitude, effort, and energy constraints on the control action. The concept of interceptibility of the pursued by the pursuer is introduced. Several necessary and sufficient conditions of interception are then developed. Finally, optimal strategies of pursuit are discussed.This research was supported in part by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Grant No. AF-AFOSR-669-67.     

Trans-membrane transport of 1-anilino-8-naphthalenesulfonate in simple cationic surfactant vesicles

The title fluorescent probe crosses dihexadecyldimethylammonium bromide vesicular membranes 1–2 orders of magnitude faster than it crosses the liposomal membranes of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine.     

Fluctuation and fractality study of target residue in S32- AgBr interaction at 200 A GeV

In this paper we analysed scaled factorial moment in different phase-space intervals to study the dynamical fluctuation of target evaporated particles in ³²S-AgBr interactions at 200 A GeV. In order to gather knowledge about the detailed characteristics of intermittency behaviour, the SFMs are calculated upto 6th order. The analysis indicates the occurence of a nonthermal phase transition and different aspects of particle production. The multifractility among target evaporated particles is also indicated by the data when analysed using the new method proposed by Takagi.

Pressure-induced structural transitions in PbI2: A high-pressure Raman and optical absorption study

The effect of pressure on the 2H and 4H polytype of PbI₂ has been investigated by Raman and optical absorption spectroscopy, using the diamond anvil cell. The 2H-polytype undergoes pressure-induced phase transitions at 5 kbar and near 30 kbar. The 4H-polytype exhibits phase transitions near 8 kbar and above 30 kbar. The Raman modes abruptly change at these pressures. The optical absorption edge shifts red at the rate of 15±1 MeV/kbar in the 2H-PbI₂ and at the rate of 7 MeV/kbar in phase II. The latter phase is most likely to possess a 3d-structure and not a layer type. The possible structures for the high pressure phases are discussed.
