A High－efficiency Preparation, Properties and Structure of （R, S ）－and （ S, S）－Pyrrolidine－2－carboxylic Acid 3,5－Dioxa－4－boracvclo.hepta [ 2,1－α; 3,4－α′] dinaphthalen－4－yl Esters

A highly-efficient preparative procedure for ( R, S )- and ( S, S)-pyrroHdine-2-carboxyHc acid 3,5-dioxa-4-boracyclohepta[2, 1-α ; 3,4-α′] dlnaphthalen-4-yl esters [ namely ( R, S )-BNBAP and (S, S )-BNBAP] is described and the crystal structure of (R, S )-BNBAP was obtained. The data indicate that ( R, S )-BNBAP is a spirocyclic inner borate salt with almost normal te-trahedral configuration. This structural form may be the basic reason for their high chemical, optical and thermodynamic sta-bility.

A three‐dimensional lead(II) coordination polymer: poly[aqua‐μ‐imidazole‐4,5‐dicarboxyl­ato‐lead(II)]

In the title coordination polymer, [Pb(C₅H₂N₂O₄)(H₂O)]_n, the Pb^II atom is seven‐coordinated by one N atom and five O atoms from four individual imidazole‐4,5‐dicarboxyl­ate (HIDC²⁻) groups and one water mol­ecule. It is inter­esting to note that the HIDC²⁻ group serves as a bridging ligand to link the Pb^II atoms into a three‐dimensional microporous open‐framework.     

SPME-GC-MSD for Determination of Nine Phenyl Compounds in Snow Water in Beijing China

Solid phase microextraction (SPME) then capillary gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection have been used for determination of nine phenyl compounds in snow water in Beijing City. Headspace extraction with a fiber coated with 100 µm PDMS was used to extract the compounds. Extraction and desorption times were optimized at 8 and 2 min, respectively. Relative standard deviation (RSD) of the analytical method was found to be less than 5%. The linear range was wide and limits of detection were less than 5 ng mL⁻¹ for the nine target analytes. Several phenyl compounds at ng mL⁻¹ levels were detected in snow samples in Beijing, indicating the corresponding air pollution.     

Electron momentum spectroscopy of CF2Cl2: experimental and theoretical momentum profiles for outer valence orbitals

Electron momentum distributions for outer valence orbitals of CF2Cl2 have been obtained by (e,2e) electron momentum spectroscopy at an incident energy of 1200 eV + binding energy. The experimental electron momentum profiles are compared with Hartree-Fock and density functional theory (DFT) calculations using B3LYP hybrid functional with the 6-31G and 6-311+G* basis sets. Generally, the shapes of the experimental momentum profiles are well reproduced by DFT calculations using larger basis sets 6-311 + G*. An attempt has been made to clarify the ordering of the outer valence orbitals, which have been in controversy, by comparing experimental results with B3LYP/6-311 + G* calculations.     

Evaluation of calcipotriol transdermal permeation through pig,rat and mouse skin using liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry

A rapid and sensitive liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometric method to evaluate the permeation and retention of calcipotriol in excised samples of pig, rat and mouse skin after application of a calcipotriol ointment has been developed and validated. After sample preparation of ointment, skin homogenate and receptor medium by liquid–liquid extraction, chromatography was performed on an Extend‐C₁₈ column using isocratic elution. Detection was by electrospray ionization in the negative ion mode using multiple‐reaction monitoring of the precursor to product ion transitions of calcipotriol at m/z 411.1 → 393.5, and of lovastatin (internal standard) at m/z 403.2 → 101.2. The assay was linear in all matrices with LLOQs of 1, 0.5 and 40 ng/mL for skin homogenate, receptor medium and ointment samples respectively. In terms of the permeation profiles, it was found that calcipotriol permeated through all skins to only a limited extent over 20 h after application but was efficiently retained in all skins at a level at 20 h of between 40% (pig) and 60% (rat and mouse) of the applied dose. This indicates that calcipotriol ointment has the potential to provide sustained therapeutic benefit in the treatment of psoriasis with minimal systemic side effects. On perturbation bounds for orthogonal projections

In this paper, we present some new perturbation bounds for the orthogonal projections onto the column and row spaces of a matrix, which improve some existing results. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate our results.     

One-pot ligation strategy for atypical ubiquitin chains synthesis by using the trifluoroacetamidomethyl-protected isopeptide-linked Ub (Tfacm-isoUb) unit

Protein chemical synthesis can provide the homogeneous atypical ubiquitin chains that are usually difficult to obtain by other methods. Herein, we report a new one-pot ligation approach for the synthesis of atypical Ub chains based on the Tfacm-protected isoUb building block with operational simplicity and high efficiency. The key intermediate, the Tfacm-protected isoUb building block can be readily prepared by Fmoc SPPS. The practicality and efficiency of the new method is demonstrated by the successful preparation of K11-linked di-Ub.
