Non-resonant microwave absorption (NRMA) studies of superconducting MgB2 and a sample containing ∼10% by weight of MgO in MgB2 are reported. The NRMA results indicate near absence of intergranular weak links in the pure MgB2 sample. A linear temperature dependence of the lower critical field H c1 is observed indicating a non-s wave superconductivity. However, the phase reversal of the NRMA signal which could suggest d wave symmetry is also not observed. In the MgB2 + MgO sample, much larger low field dependent absorption is observed indicating the presence of intergranular weak links. The hysteretic behavior of NRMA is compared and contrasted in the two samples. In the pure MgB2 sample, a large hysteresis is observed between the forward and the reverse scans of the magnetic field indicating strong pinning of flux lines. This hysteresis saturates a few degrees below T c while in the MgB2 + MgO sample, a much slower increase of hysteresis with decreasing temperature is observed, a signature of weaker pinning.  相似文献

Ternary copper(II) complexes [Cu(L1)B](ClO4) (1, 2) and [Cu(L2)B](ClO4) (3, 4), where HL1 and HL2 are tridentate NSO- and ONO-donor Schiff bases and B is a heterocyclic base, viz. dipyrido[3,2-d:2',3'-f]quinoxaline (dpq, 1 and 3) or dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine (dppz, 2 and 4), were prepared and their DNA binding and photoinduced DNA cleavage activity studied. Complex 1, structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, shows an axially elongated square-pyramidal (4 + 1) coordination geometry in which the monoanionic L1 binds at the equatorial plane. The NN-donor dpq ligand exhibits an axial-equatorial binding mode. The complexes display good binding propensity to calf thymus DNA, giving a relative order 2 (NSO-dppz) > 4 (ONO-dppz) > 1 (NSO-dpq) > 3 (ONO-dpq). They cleave supercoiled pUC19 DNA to its nicked circular form when treated with 3-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) by formation of hydroxyl radicals as the cleavage active species under dark reaction conditions. The photoinduced DNA cleavage activity of the complexes was investigated using UV radiation of 365 nm and red light of 633, 647.1, and 676.4 nm (CW He-Ne and Ar-Kr mixed gas ion laser sources) in the absence of MPA. Complexes 1 and 2, having photoactive NSO-donor Schiff base and dpq/dppz ligands, show dual photosensitizing effects involving both the photoactive ligands in the ternary structure with significantly better cleavage properties when compared to those of 3 and 4, having only photoactive dpq/dppz ligands. Involvement of singlet oxygen in the light-induced DNA cleavage reactions is proposed. A significant enhancement of the red-light-induced DNA cleavage activity is observed for the dpq and dppz complexes containing the sulfur ligand when compared to their earlier reported phen (1,10-phenanthroline) analogue. Enhancement of the cleavage activity on photoexposure at the d-d band indicates the occurrence of metal-assisted photosensitization processes involving the LMCT and d-d band in the ternary structure.  相似文献

The present study applies the power spectral analysis technique to understand the diffusional anomaly in liquid silica, modeled using the Beest-Kramer-van Santen (BKS) potential. Molecular-dynamics simulations have been carried out to show that power spectrum of tagged particle potential energy of silica shows a regime with 1f(alpha) dependence on frequency f which is the characteristic signature of multiple time scale behaviour in networks. As demonstrated earlier in the case of water [J. Chem. Phys. 122, 104507 (2005)], the variations in the mobility associated with the diffusional anomaly are mirrored in the scaling exponent alpha associated with this multiple time scale behavior. Our results indicate that in the anomalous regime, as the local tetrahedral order decreases with temperature or pressure, the coupling of local modes to network reorganizations increases and so does the diffusivity. This symmetry-dependence of the vibrational couplings is responsible for the connection between the structural and diffusional anomalies.  相似文献

The present investigation deals with a mathematical model representing the mass transfer to blood streaming through the arteries under stenotic condition. The mass transport refers to the movement of atherogenic molecules, that is, blood-borne components, such as oxygen and low-density lipoproteins from flowing blood into the arterial walls or vice versa. The blood flowing through the artery is treated to be Newtonian and the arterial wall is considered to be rigid having differently shaped stenoses in its lumen arising from various types of abnormal growth or plaque formation. The nonlinear unsteady pulsatile flow phenomenon unaffected by concentration-field of the macromolecules is governed by the Navier–Stokes equations together with the equation of continuity while that of mass transfer is controlled by the convection-diffusion equation. The governing equations of motion accompanied by appropriate choice of the boundary conditions are solved numerically by MAC(Marker and Cell) method and checked numerical stability with desired degree of accuracy. The quantitative analysis carried out finally includes the respective profiles of the flow-field and concentration along with their distributions over the entire arterial segment as well. The key factors like the wall shear stress and Sherwood number are also examined for further qualitative insight into the flow and mass transport phenomena through arterial stenosis. The present results show quite consistency with several existing results in the literature which substantiate sufficiently to validate the applicability of the model under consideration.   相似文献

An industrial chromatographic 99Mo–99mTc generator has been developed with the aid of chromatographic alumina to obtain 99mTc in a non-aqueous medium. This generator system takes advantage of tributyl phosphate to extract 99mTc selectively with appreciable yield and in high radiochemical and radionuclidic purity. This facile, versatile and efficient approach provides 99mTc at industrial sites in a medium soluble in hydrocarbon solvents, for radiotracer applications.  相似文献

We present an experimental study of self-pulsing characteristics of a high-power single transverse mode Yb-doped double-clad continuous wave (CW) fiber laser. The self-pulsing features under high-power single-end pumping and double-end pumping configurations have been shown to be distinct. Our experimental observation indicates that in single-end pumping configuration, self-pulsing is predominant due to saturable absorption effect, caused by the weakly pumped portion of the fiber at the farther end. However, in double-end pumping configuration, uniform pumping and hence gain uniformity along the fiber length avoids the onset of saturable absorption of signal along the fiber length and thereby reduces self-pulsing, which finally results in a much more stable output.  相似文献

The simplest quantum generalization of the six-vertex model describes fluctuations of the order parameter of the d-density wave (DDW), believed to compete with superconductivity in the high-T(c) superconductors. The ground state of this model undergoes a first order transition from the DDW phase to a resonating plaquette phase as the quantum fluctuations are increased, which is explored with the help of quantum Monte Carlo simulations and analytic considerations involving the n-vector (n = 2) model with cubic anisotropy. In addition to finding a new quantum state, we show that the DDW is robust against a class of quantum fluctuations of its order parameter. The inferred finite temperature phase diagram contains unsuspected multicritical points.  相似文献

The lowest Landau level of graphene is studied numerically by considering a tight-binding Hamiltonian with disorder. The Hall conductance sigma_{xy} and the longitudinal conductance sigma_{xx} are computed. We demonstrate that bond disorder can produce a plateaulike feature centered at nu=0, while the longitudinal conductance is nonzero in the same region, reflecting a band of extended states between +/-E_{c}, whose magnitude depends on the disorder strength. The critical exponent corresponding to the localization length at the edges of this band is found to be 2.47+/-0.04. When both bond disorder and a finite mass term exist the localization length exponent varies continuously between approximately 1.0 and approximately 7/3.  相似文献

We give a heuristic argument for disorder rounding of a first-order quantum phase transition into a continuous phase transition. From both weak and strong disorder analysis of the N-color quantum Ashkin-Teller model in one spatial dimension, we find that, for N > or =3, the first-order transition is rounded to a continuous transition and the physical picture is the same as the random transverse field Ising model for a limited parameter regime. The results are strikingly different from the corresponding classical problem in two dimensions where the fate of the renormalization group flows is a fixed point corresponding to N-decoupled pure Ising models.  相似文献
