Fast photography of the plume produced by laser ablation of LiNbO3 in vacuum has been performed using an image intensified CCD (ICCD) camera in a time interval up to 2 7s after the laser pulse. Two differently oriented single crystalline LiNbO3 targets were used. The results show that although the emission intensity of the laser-generated plume initially depends on the crystalline orientation of the target, it reaches a stationary state after several minutes which is the same for both targets orientations. Under these stationary conditions, the angular distribution of the Li atoms is found to be broader than that of Nb atoms. The observed less forward directed expansion of the Li species may explain the poor Li content normally observed in films grown by laser ablation of LiNbO3 in vacuum.  相似文献

At the Paul Scherrer Institute slow positive muons (μ+) with nearly 100% polarization and an energy of about 10 eV are generated by moderation of an intense secondary beam of surface muons in an appropriate condensed gas layer. These epithermal muons are used as a source of a tertiary beam of tunable energy between 10 eV and 20 keV. The range of these muons in solids is up to 100 nm which allows the extension of the μ+SR techniques (muon spin rotation, relaxation, resonance) to the study of thin films. A basic requirement for the proper interpretation of μ+SR results on thin films and multi-layers is the knowledge of the depth distribution of muons in matter. To date, no data are available concerning this topic. Therefore, we investigated the penetration depth of μ+ with energies between 8 keV and 16 keV in Cu/SiO2 samples. The experimental data are in agreement with simulated predictions. Additionally, we present two examples of first applications of low energy μ+ in μ+SR investigations. We measured the magnetic field distribution inside a 500-nm thin High-TC superconductor (YBa2Cu3O7-δ), as well as the depth dependence of the field distribution near the surface. In another experiment a 500-nm thin sample of Fe-nanoclusters (diameter 2.4(4) nm), embedded in an Ag matrix with a volume concentration of 0.1%, was investigated with transverse field μ+SR. The photon polarization operator is computed in the presence of a constant external chromomagnetic field in nonrelativistic approximation. The found branching points of the polarization operator are compared with the minimal energy necessary for creation of scalar colored particles. 〈1 1 1〉 oriented bis thiourea cadmium acetate (BTCA) crystal of diameter 15 mm and length 45 mm was grown for the first time by the unidirectional Sankaranarayanan-Ramasamy (SR) method. The conventional and SR method grown BTCA crystals were characterized by using high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD), chemical etching, Vickers microhardness, UV-vis, dielectric studies and differential scanning calorimetry. The HRXRD analysis indicates that the crystalline perfection of SR method grown crystal is good without having any low angle internal structural grain boundaries. The transmittance of SR method grown BTCA is 14% higher than that of conventional grown crystal. The dielectric constant was higher and the dielectric loss was less in SR method grown crystal. The crystals grown by SR method possess less dislocation density and higher microhardness.  相似文献

Li2O-ZrO2-SiO2: Ho3+ glasses mixed with three interesting d-block elemental oxides, viz., Nb2O5, Ta2O5 and La2O3, were prepared. Optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra of these glasses have been recorded at room temperature. The luminescence spectra of Nb2O5 and Ta2O5 mixed Li2O-ZrO2-SiO2 glasses (free of Ho3+ ions) have also exhibited broad emission band in the blue region. This band is attributed to radiative recombination of self-trapped excitons (STEs) localized on substitutionally positioned octahedral Ta5+ and Nb5+ ions in the glass network. The Judd-Ofelt theory was successfully applied to characterize Ho3+ spectra of all the three glasses. From this theory various radiative properties, like transition probability A, branching ratio βr and the radiative lifetime τr, for 5S2 emission levels in the spectra of these glasses have been evaluated. The radiative lifetime for 5S2 level of Ho3+ ions has also been measured and quantum efficiencies were estimated. Among the three glasses studied the La2O3 mixed glass exhibited the highest quantum efficiency. The reasons for such higher value have been discussed based on the relationship between the structural modifications taking place around the Ho3+ ions.  相似文献

We investigate the impact of decoherence and static disorder on the dynamics of quantum particles moving in a periodic lattice. Our experiment relies on the photonic implementation of a one-dimensional quantum walk. The pure quantum evolution is characterized by a ballistic spread of a photon's wave packet along 28 steps. By applying controlled time-dependent operations we simulate three different environmental influences on the system, resulting in a fast ballistic spread, a diffusive classical walk, and the first Anderson localization in a discrete quantum walk architecture.  相似文献

We investigate quantum dots in clean single-wall carbon nanotubes with ferromagnetic PdNi-leads in the Kondo regime. Most of the Kondo resonances exhibit a splitting, which depends on the tunnel coupling to the leads and an external magnetic field B, but only weakly on the gate voltage. Using numerical renormalization group calculations, we demonstrate that all salient features of the data can be understood using a simple model for the magnetic properties of the leads. The magnetoconductance at zero bias and low temperature depends in a universal way on gμ(B)(B-B(c))/k(B)T(K), where T(K) is the Kondo temperature and B(c) the external field compensating the splitting.  相似文献

The energy and time spectra of γ rays emitted during negative-muon capture in 150Sm were studied. The total muon lifetime in 150Sm was measured.
