The minimally processed food provided the consumer with a product quality, safety and practicality. However, minimal processing of food does not reduce pathogenic population of microorganisms to safe levels. Ionizing radiation used in low doses is effective to maintain the quality of food, reducing the microbiological load but rather compromising the nutritional values and sensory property. The association of minimal processing with irradiation could improve the quality and safety of product. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of low-doses of ionizing radiation on the reduction of microorganisms in minimally processed foods. The results show that the ionizing radiation of minimally processed vegetables could decontaminate them without several changes in its properties. 相似文献

Statistical design mixtures of water, methanol, acetone and ethanol were used to extract material from Trichilia catigua (Meliaceae) barks to study the effects of different solvents and their mixtures on its yield, total polyphenol content and antioxidant activity. The experimental results and their response surface models showed that quaternary mixtures with approximately equal proportions of all four solvents provided the highest yields, total polyphenol contents and antioxidant activities of the crude extracts followed by ternary design mixtures. Principal component and hierarchical clustering analysis of the HPLC–DAD spectra of the chromatographic peaks of 1:1:1:1 water–methanol–acetone–ethanol mixture extracts indicate the presence of cinchonains, gallic acid derivatives, natural polyphenols, flavanoids, catechins, and epicatechins. 相似文献

Novel aza-bicyclic 2-isoxazolines, 4,5-dihydroisoxazole[5,4-b]pyrrolidines, and 4,5-dihydroisoxazole[5,4-b]piperidines were synthesized in a highly regioselective manner through a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of 5- and 6-membered endocyclic enecarbamates and enamides with several nitrile oxides in good to excellent yields. Hydrogenolysis of 5- and 6-membered Cbz-cycloadducts led to secondary amines, which presented distinctive stabilities. 2-Isoxazoline bisamides were obtained in good yields through a N-benzoylation, followed by ammonolysis of the secondary amine, or directly from ammonolysis of the cycloadducts. 相似文献

Poly(butylene succinate) (PBSu), poly(butylene succinate-co-adipate) (PBSA) and poly(butylene terephthalate-co-adipate) (PBTA) microcapsules were prepared by the double emulsion/solvent evaporation method. The effect of polymer and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) concentration on the microcapsule morphologies, drug encapsulation efficiency (EE) and drug loading (DL) of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and all-trans retinoic acid (atRA) were all investigated. As a result, the sizes of PBSu, PBSA and PBTA microcapsules were increased significantly by varying polymer concentrations from 6 to 9%. atRA was encapsulated into the microcapsules with an high level of approximately 95% EE. The highest EE and DL of BSA were observed at 1% polymer concentration in values of 60 and 37%, respectively. 4% PVA was found as the optimum concentration and resulted in 75% EE and 14% DL of BSA. The BSA release from the capsules of PBSA was the longest, with 10% release in the first day and a steady release of 17% until the end of day 28. The release of atRA from PBSu microcapsules showed a zero-order profile for 2 weeks, keeping a steady release rate during 4 weeks with a 9% cumulative release. Similarly, the PBSA microcapsules showed a prolonged and a steady release of atRA during 6 weeks with 12% release. In the case of PBTA microcapsules, after a burst release of 10% in the first day, showed a parabolic release profile of atRA during 42 days, releasing 36% of atRA. 相似文献

The capacity for anaerobic decolorization of a sulfonated azo dye, Congo Red, by a strain of a sulfate-reducing bacterium
was evaluated. After optimizing the growth rate of the bacteria on a simple carbon source and terminal electron acceptor pair,
lactate and sulfate, respectively, the effect of the dye concentration on their growth rate was analyzed. The decolorization
rate was affected by the dye concentration in the growth medium. The azo-bond cleavage mechanism of reductive decolorization
with the formation of benzidine was consistent with the results, as this metabolite was identified by high-performance liquid
chromatography. Several fractions of the culture medium, including lysed cell extracts, were examined for the capacity to
reduce the azo dye. This reduction capacity was found in the culture medium in which the cells had previously grown. The results
showed that the mechanism of reductive decolorization of this sulfonated azo dye was extracellular and nonenzymatic, consistent
with the production of sulfide anion by the microorganisms while growing on lactate and sulfate. The sulfide anions were the
cause of the reduction leading to the disappearance of color in the medium. To increase the rate of decolorization, the presence

Previous investigations of the first ionization of aqueous sulfur dioxide or ‘sulfurous acid’ have led to ΔH 1 0 values ranging from ?15 to ?24.5 kJ-mol?1. To help with selection of a ‘best’ value for this enthalpy of ionization we have made calorimetric measurements of enthalpies associated with adding dilute perchloric acid to dilute aqueous sulfur dioxide and sodium bisulfite. Biofilm-associated infections, which are able to resist antibiotics, pose a significant challenge in clinical treatments. Such infections have been linked to various medical conditions, including chronic wounds and implant-associated infections, making them a major public-health concern. Early-detection of biofilm formation offers significant advantages in mitigating adverse effects caused by biofilms. In this work, we aim to explore the feasibility of employing a novel wireless sensor for tracking both early-stage and matured-biofilms formed by the medically relevant bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The sensor utilizes electrochemical reduction of an AgCl layer bridging two silver legs made by inkjet-printing, forming a part of near-field-communication tag antenna. The antenna is interfaced with a carbon cloth designed to promote the growth of microorganisms, thereby serving as an electron source for reduction of the resistive AgCl into a highly-conductive Ag bridge. The AgCl−Ag transformation significantly alters the impedance of the antenna, facilitating wireless identification of an endpoint caused by microbial growth. To the best of our knowledge, this study for the first time presents the evidence showcasing that electrons released through the actions of bacteria can be harnessed to convert AgCl to Ag, thus enabling the wireless, battery-less, and chip-less early-detection of biofilm formation. 相似文献
