In this paper, we study a single-server queue with finite capacity in which several space priority mechanisms are implemented. The arrival process is the general Markovian arrival process (MAP) which has been used to model the bursty arrival processes commonly arising in communication applications. The service times are generally distributed. These buffer mechanisms enable the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) layer to adapt the quality of the cell transfer to the quality of service requirements of the specific broadband ISDN services and to improve the utilization of the network resources. This is done by a selective discarding of cells according to the class they belong to. Computable expressions for various performance parameters are obtained. Numerical results are given for the case of a two-state Markov-modulated Poisson process (MMPP) and deterministic service times. The values derived can be used to evaluate the benefits of using priorities in an ATM network when the traffic is bursty and to make a comparative study of the buffer mechanisms. These results extend the models previously developed, which were limited to Poisson arrivals.  相似文献

The likelihood of vector GARCH models is ill-conditioned because of two facts. First, when the series display high correlations, as often happens with financial data, some eigenvalues of the conditional covariance matrix are close to zero. Second, the likelihood function is very flat in the neighborhood of the optimum due to the functional form of the GARCH process. These facts explain the instability of multivariate GARCH estimation procedures. Building on this analysis, we suggest a data transformation which moves the critical eigenvalues far from zero and, therefore, improves the stability of iterative optimization methods. The transformed values are re-scaled principal components, so their interpretation is straightforward. The application of this technique is illustrated by modeling the short-run conditional correlations of four nominal exchange rates.   相似文献

Gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) from 5 to 100 nm in size synthesized with HAuCl(4) and sodium citrate were complexed with the plasma protein human serum albumin (HSA). Size, surface charge, and surface plasmon bands of the Au NPs are largely modified by the formation of a protein corona via electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonding as revealed by thermodynamic data. Negative values of the entropy of binding suggested a restriction in the biomolecule mobility upon adsorption. The structure of the adsorbed protein molecules is slightly affected by the interaction with the metal surface, but this effect is enhanced as the NP curvature decreases. Also, it is observed that the protein molecules adsorbed onto the NP surface are more resistant to complete thermal denaturation than free protein ones as deduced from the increases in the melting temperature of the adsorbed protein. Differences in the conformations of the adsorbed protein molecules onto small (<40 nm) and large NPs were observed on the basis of ζ-potential data and FTIR spectroscopy, also suggesting a better resistance of adsorbed protein molecules to thermal denaturing conditions. We think this enhanced protein stability is responsible for a reduced formation of HSA amyloid-like fibrils in the presence of small Au NPs under HSA fibrillation conditions.  相似文献

The features of the Dumas combustion method (CM) and those of the Kjeldahl method (KM) were compared as they apply to total nitrogen determination in animal feed. Both methods achieved similar repeatability (S.D., 0.11-0.38 from Kjeldahl and 0.15-0.36 from combustion) and similar intra-laboratory reproducibility (S.D., 0.11-0.39 from Kjeldahl and 0.15-0.37 from combustion). R.S.D. is always below 2%. These results show that the CM is suitable for the analysis of protein content in animal feed (5-75% protein content). The CM is recommended owing to its shorter analysis time, its cost and its environmental suitability.  相似文献

An HPLC isocratic method with pre-column derivatization and UV detection for the quantification of cyclamate and cyclohexylamine in urine samples is described. The method requires very little sample preparation. Free cyclohexylamine is analysed in a first run and subsequently cyclamate is analysed as cyclohexylamine, after the simple process of oxidation of the sample by means of hydrogen peroxide. Cycloheptylamine is used as internal standard. Trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS) appears to be a good reagent for the pre-column derivatization. The time per run is 15 min; the coefficients of variation of the assays range from 1.1 to 5.5%; the limits of detection are 0.09 and 0.11 ppm for cyclohexylamine and cyclamate anion, respectively. The system described has always performed efficiently, with a high degree of stability, in daily routine work.  相似文献

This paper discusses how to specify the order of a state-space model. To do so, we start by revising existing approaches and find in them two basic shortcomings: (i) some of them have a poor performance in short samples and (ii) most of them are not robust, meaning that their performance critically depends on the data generating process. We tackle these two issues by proposing new and refined criteria. Monte Carlo simulations provide evidence of the potential of the proposals.  相似文献

Microinjection techniques and Raman spectroscopy have been combined to provide a new methodology to investigate the cytotoxic effects due to the interaction of nanomaterials with cells. In the present work, this novel technique has been used to investigate the effects of Ag and Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles on Hela cells. The nanoparticles are microinjected inside the cells and these latter ones are probed by means of Raman spectroscopy after a short incubation time, in order to highlight the first and impulsive mechanisms developed by the cells to counteract the presence of the nanoparticles. The results put in evidence a different behaviour of the cells treated with nanoparticles in comparison with the control cells; these differences are supposed to be generated by an emerging oxidative stress due to the nanoparticles. The achieved results demonstrate the suitability of the proposed method as a new tool for nanotoxicity studies.  相似文献
