This research investigated the bioactive potential of jaboticaba peel extract (JPE) and proposed an innovative material for food packaging based on carrageenan films incorporated with JPE. The extract was obtained through microwave assisted extraction (MAE) according to central composite rotational design and the optimized conditions showed a combined antimicrobial and antioxidant actions when the extraction process is accomplished at 80 °C and 1 min. The carrageenan film incorporated with JPE was manageable, homogeneous and the presence of JPE into film increased the thickness and improved the light barrier of the film. The results of solubility and mechanical properties did not show significant differences. The benefit of using MAE to improve the recovery of bioactive compounds was demonstrated and the carrageenan film with JPE showed a great strategy to add additives into food packaging.  相似文献

Alcohol use disorder (AUD) causes about 3.3 million deaths around the world each year. It is the primary risk factor for the global burden of diseases in American countries. Long-term abuse of alcohol induces numerous molecular and biochemical changes in tissues exposed to alcohol. The toxic effects of alcohol are mediated by DNA damage through various mechanisms, such as induction of oxidative damage, DNA adducts, crosslinks, and DNA strand breaks. The main aim of the current study was to compare the frequency of SNP polymorphisms in XRCC1 (rs7997782) and GSTP1 (rs1695) genes involved in DNA repair of single strand breaks (SSB) and xenobiotic detoxification between alcohol addicts and a control group comprised of non-drinkers. Genetic polymorphisms were identified following allelic specific PCR designed to generate the amplicons containing the variants. Then amplicons were sequenced, and sequences were aligned against the human genome reference deposited in GenBank using the CLC Sequence Viewer software (version 7.6.1). The GG homozygotes in rs1695 (GSTP1) were significantly (p = 0.023) 3.8x more frequent among those with AUD when compared to the control group. No SNP variation was observed in rs7997782 (XRCC1). rs1695 variant has been associated with susceptibility to various diseases, including those related to alcohol consumption.  相似文献

Moderate levels of a proinflammatory macrophages phenotype are indispensable and play an important role in the skeletal muscle repair process since this response depends on their secreted products concentration to influence and modulate muscle inflammation as well as the differentiation of myoblasts. This study investigated the effects of photobiomodulation (PBM) on undifferentiated and differentiation-induced C2C12 myoblasts cultivated in different concentrations of M1 phenotype macrophage-conditioned media of J774 cells (MCM1) also submitted to PBM using the same irradiation parameters. Irradiation was performed once with low-level laser (780 nm, 70 mW, 1 J) and was evaluated cell viability, proliferation and differentiation, nitric oxide (NO) synthesis and IL-6 and TNF-α protein levels 24 and 48 h after C2C12 irradiation. PBM treatment in undifferentiated myoblasts exhibited lower IL-6 levels in the presence of nonirradiated MCM1 at both concentrations. Myoblasts in proliferation condition cultivated with irradiated MCM1 showed lower IL-6 and TNF-α levels after 48 h in the presence of both concentrations evaluated. PBM induced a decrease in the synthesis of NO on undifferentiated and differentiation-induced myoblasts. PBM was able to reduce the level of proinflammatory protein and markers, which are important to allow the differentiation of myoblasts during the muscle repair process.  相似文献

The mechanism and selectivity of terminal alkyne coupling reactions promoted by rhodium(I) complexes of NHC‐based CNC pincer ligands have been investigated. Synthetic and kinetic experiments support E‐ and gem‐enyne formation through a common reaction sequence involving hydrometallation and rate‐determining C?C bond reductive elimination. The latter is significantly affected by the ligand topology: Employment of a macrocyclic variant enforced exclusive head‐to‐head coupling, contrasting the high selectivity for head‐to‐tail coupling observed for the corresponding acyclic pincer ligand.  相似文献

The chemical composition and antiviral activity of aqueous extract from Baccharis anomala was studied by bioactivity-guided fractionation. Ethanol precipitation and fractionation by molecular permeation allowed the separation of the anti-herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) active fraction from aqueous extract (Fraction B). Natural Product Reagent A, FeCl3 and thin-layer chromatography indicated the presence of phenolic compounds in the aqueous extract. Fraction B showed pronounced antiviral activity when tested with HSV-1 strains VR733/ATCC and Acyclovir-resistant 29-R, displaying virucidal but not virustatic activity.  相似文献

The structure‐based design of M‐525 as the first‐in‐class, highly potent, irreversible small‐molecule inhibitor of the menin‐MLL interaction is presented. M‐525 targets cellular menin protein at sub‐nanomolar concentrations and achieves low nanomolar potencies in cell growth inhibition and in the suppression of MLL‐regulated gene expression in MLL leukemia cells. M‐525 demonstrates high cellular specificity over non‐MLL leukemia cells and is more than 30 times more potent than its corresponding reversible inhibitors. Mass spectrometric analysis and co‐crystal structure of M‐525 in complex with menin firmly establish its mode of action. A single administration of M‐525 effectively suppresses MLL‐regulated gene expression in tumor tissue. An efficient procedure was developed to synthesize M‐525. This study demonstrates that irreversible inhibition of menin may be a promising therapeutic strategy for MLL leukemia.  相似文献

The gas barrier properties of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) against oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapor have been widely investigated in relation to different material characteristics, environmental conditions and new processing technologies. Recently, EVOH is gaining more attention as a barrier material against other gases and organic substances such as aromas, flavors, fuels, chemicals (e.g., BTEX), and as a functional barrier, e.g., to avoid mineral oil migration. This review contains an update on permeability data of EVOH emphasizing its potential as a barrier material for new and versatile applications in food and pharmaceutical packaging, agriculture, construction, automotive, etc.  相似文献

Barium nitrate is one of the least soluble metal nitrate phases normally present in the nitric acid based highly active liquor, which will require removal from highly active storage tanks during post-operational clean-out of the Sellafield nuclear site. Laboratory experiments have been carried out to determine the dissolution rate of barium nitrate in water and weak acid solutions. The influence of agitation (solutions being stirred by a paddle at a rate of 0, 40 and 60 revolutions per minute (rpm)), dissolution temperature (20–40 °C), nitric acid concentration (0–1 mol·L?1) and additional solution nitrate {from Al(NO3)3} concentration (0–0.5 mol·L?1) were investigated. An inscribed central composite experimental design was used for each level of stirred agitation (including unstirred), which allowed non-linear trends and interactions among variables to be statistically determined without carrying out a full factorial experimental array. It was found that the dissolution rate was faster for higher temperature, lower nitric acid concentrations and lower nitrate concentrations. Comparing experiments under like conditions, the barium nitrate dissolution rates at an agitation rate of 40 rpm were on average 56% of those at 60 rpm, while the dissolution rate in the unstirred experiments were on average 0.8% of those at 60 rpm, i.e. two orders of magnitude lower. Hence, the transition from stagnant solution conditions with diffusion controlled transfer of solute from the solid interface to agitated solution conditions was found to be significant. Statistical analysis of the data allowed the derivation of a predictive dissolution rate equation.  相似文献

For feeding of working dogs during their daily life, illness, routine jobs or sporting activities, an accurate determination of their nutritional requirements is essential to ensure their optimal health and performance. To predict the appropriate guidelines about how to feed dogs, it appears essential to determine the energy expenditure (EE) in a reliable and feasible way. In the present experiment, the non-invasive oral 13C-bicarbonate tracer technique (o13CT), i.e. collection of breath samples after oral administration of NaH13CO3, was used for the estimation of CO2 production and EE in dogs. Measurements were conducted during two days of rest, and during three days with 3 h of exercise per day. Average EE was 483 and 876 kJ kg?0.75 d?1 during rest and exercise, respectively. The o13CT seems appropriate to use as a minimal restrictive and non-invasive method to obtain reliable estimates of EE in dogs at different activity levels under near natural conditions.  相似文献
