A family of solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell field equations is presented, corresponding to the exterior of stationaryaxisymmetric sources with charge, mass, angular momentum, and magnetic dipole moment. The Riemann tensor vanishes asymptotically for each member of the family; some solutions are asymptotically flat and some have NUT-like behavior asymptotically. For the asymptotically flat solutions, the gyromagnetic ratio may vary from zero to one. The corresponding value for the Kerr-Newman solution is one. A method for generating infinite chains of families of solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations is described.  相似文献

Experiments on laser conduction seam welding were carried out with a 500 W CO2 laser. Low carbon and stainless steel samples were butt welded and the optimum working conditions were found. An accurate analysis of these results showed such excellent agreement with the theoretical models that an a priori method could be formulated to calculate the values of all the related parameters, even including the laser focal spot radius to be used to ensure the best utilization of the beam energy.  相似文献

The paper investigates the effect of glutathione on model biological systems, such as enzymes, (lisozyme, alcoholdehydrogenase, α-chymotrypsin) and DNA base components. Our results on the inactivation of enzymes and on the chemical changes in DNA base components show a radioprotective action of glutathione in all systems. The results are discussed in terms of glutathione free radical reactivity and in the light of current hypothesis on the modification of the radiation damage given by thiol compounds.  相似文献

This communication describes a new neutron spectrometer consisting of pairs of 7Li and 6Li based thermoluminescent dosemeters (MCP-6, MCP-7) located at selected positions within a single moderating polyethylene sphere. The spatial arrangement of the dosemeters has been designed using the MCNPX Monte Carlo code to calculate the response matrix in order to obtain a nearly isotropic response for neutrons in the energy range up to 20 MeV. A partial validation of the calculated response matrix has been performed with the calibrated 241Am–Be neutron source at the INFN–LNF Laboratory, using the shadow cone technique.  相似文献

We report on the observation of a large production of runaway electrons during a disruptive termination of discharges heated with lower-hybrid waves at the Frascati Tokamak Upgrade. The runaway current plateaus, which can carry up to 80% of the predisruptive current, are observed more often than in normal Ohmic disruptions. The largest runaway currents correspond to the slowest plasma current decay rates. This trend is opposite to what is observed in most tokamaks. We attribute this anomalous behavior to the acceleration of the preexistent wave-resonant suprathermal electrons during the disruption decay phase. These results could be relevant for the operation of the ITER tokamak whenever a sizeable amount of lower-hybrid power is made available.  相似文献

The measurement of 1H off-resonance nonselective relaxation rates (R(theta,ns)) has been recently proposed as an effective method to probe peptide self-recognition, opening new perspectives in the understanding of the prefibrillization oligomerization processes in amylodogenesis. However, a full analysis and parametric optimization of the NMR experiments designed to measure R(theta,ns) relaxation rates is still missing. Here we analyze the dependence of the R(theta,ns) rates upon three critical parameters: the tilt angle of the effective field during the spin lock, the static magnetic field, and finally the repetition delay. Our analysis reveals that the tilt angle theta = 35.5 degrees not only minimizes spin-diffusion, but also avoids experimental artifacts such as J-transfer and poor adiabaticity. In addition, we found that when the dominant relaxation mechanism is caused by uncorrelated pairwise 1H dipole-1H dipole interactions the R(35.5 degrees,ns) rate is not significantly affected by static field variations, suggesting a wide applicability of the 1H off-resonance nonselective relaxation experiment. Finally, we show that the self-recognition maps based on the comparative analysis of the R(35.5 degrees,ns) rates can tolerate decreases in the interscan delays without significantly compromising the identification of critical self-association loci. These considerations not only provide a better understanding of the 1H off-resonance nonselective relaxation, but they also serve as guidelines for the optimal setup of this experiment.  相似文献

We study the efficiency at maximum power, η*, of engines performing finite-time Carnot cycles between a hot and a cold reservoir at temperatures Th and Tc, respectively. For engines reaching Carnot efficiency ηC=1-Tc/Th in the reversible limit (long cycle time, zero dissipation), we find in the limit of low dissipation that η* is bounded from above by ηC/(2-ηC) and from below by ηC/2. These bounds are reached when the ratio of the dissipation during the cold and hot isothermal phases tend, respectively, to zero or infinity. For symmetric dissipation (ratio one) the Curzon-Ahlborn efficiency ηCA=1-√Tc/Th] is recovered.  相似文献

A new algorithm for the Maximum Entropy Method (MEM) is proposed for recovering the lifetime distribution in time-resolved fluorescence decays. The procedure is based on seeking the distribution that maximizes the Skilling entropy function subjected to the chi-squared constraint χ 2?~?1 through iterative linear approximations, LU decomposition of the Hessian matrix of the lagrangian problem and the Golden Section Search for backtracking. The accuracy of this algorithm has been investigated through comparisons with simulated fluorescence decays both of narrow and broad lifetime distributions. The proposed approach is capable to analyse datasets of up to 4,096 points with a discretization ranging from 100 to 1,000 lifetimes. A good agreement with non linear fitting estimates has been observed when the method has been applied to multi-exponential decays. Remarkable results have been also obtained for the broad lifetime distributions where the position is recovered with high accuracy and the distribution width is estimated within 3 %. These results indicate that the procedure proposed generates MEM lifetime distributions that can be used to quantify the real heterogeneity of lifetimes in a sample.  相似文献
