The effects of ceria and zirconia on the structure–function properties of supported rhodium catalysts (1.6 and 4 wt % Rh/γ‐Al2O3) during CO exposure are described. Ceria and zirconia are introduced through two preparation methods: 1) ceria is deposited on γ‐Al2O3 from [Ce(acac)3] and rhodium metal is subsequently added, and 2) through the controlled surface modification (CSM) technique, which involves the decomposition of [M(acac)x] (M=Ce, x=3; M=Zr, x=4) on Rh/γ‐Al2O3. The structure–function correlations of ceria and/or zirconia‐doped rhodium catalysts are investigated by diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier‐transform spectroscopy/energy‐dispersive extended X‐ray absorption spectroscopy/mass spectrometry (DRIFTS/EDE/MS) under time‐resolved, in situ conditions. CeOx and ZrO2 facilitate the protection of Rh particles against extensive oxidation in air and CO. Larger Rh core particles of ceriated and zirconiated Rh catalysts prepared by CSM are observed and compared with Rh/γ‐Al2O3 samples, whereas supported Rh particles are easily disrupted by CO forming mononuclear Rh geminal dicarbonyl species. DRIFTS results indicate that, through the interaction of CO with ceriated Rh particles, a significantly larger amount of linear CO species form; this suggests the predominance of a metallic Rh phase. 相似文献

The present research focuses on the evaluation of different ionic liquid (IL) stationary phases in gas chromatography. The different IL columns were evaluated in terms of peak resolution (Rs) and peak symmetry for the separation of the chlorobenzenes. The determination of chlorobenzenes in soil samples by means of the optimal IL stationary phase (SLB‐IL82) is proposed as an application. Soil pretreatment was based on a simplified quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe extraction procedure and a large injection volume via a programed temperature vaporizer working in solvent vent mode. The retention time of the chlorobenzenes increased as the polarity of the IL column decreased. SLB‐IL82 is the stationary phase that provides the best values as regards Rs and asymmetry factor. Soil sample blanks were spiked with the analytes before subjecting the sample to the extraction process. The existence of a matrix effect was checked and the analytical characteristics of the method were determined in a fortified garden soil sample. The method provided good linearity, good repeatability and reproducibility values, and the LODs were in the 0.1–4.7 μg/kg range. The solution structure of the oligodeoxynucleotide 5'-d(CTCGGCXCCATC)-3'.5'-d(GATGGCGCCGAG)-3' containing the heterocyclic amine 8-[(3-methyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-f]quinolin-2-yl)amino]-2'-deoxyguanosine adduct (IQ) at the third guanine in the NarI restriction sequence, a hot spot for -2 bp frameshifts, is reported. Molecular dynamics calculations restrained by distances derived from 24 (1)H NOEs between IQ and DNA, and torsion angles derived from (3)J couplings, yielded ensembles of structures in which the adducted guanine was displaced into the major groove with its glycosyl torsion angle in the syn conformation. One proton of its exocyclic amine was approximately 2.8 A from an oxygen of the 5' phosphodiester linkage, suggesting formation of a hydrogen bond. The carcinogen-guanine linkage was defined by torsion angles alpha' [N9-C8-N(IQ)-C2(IQ)] of 159 +/- 7 degrees and beta' [C8-N(IQ)-C2(IQ)-N3(IQ)] of -23 +/- 8 degrees . The complementary cytosine was also displaced into the major groove. This allowed IQ to intercalate between the flanking C.G base pairs. The disruption of Watson-Crick hydrogen bonding was corroborated by chemical-shift perturbations for base aromatic protons in the complementary strand opposite to the modified guanine. Chemical-shift perturbations were also observed for (31)P resonances corresponding to phosphodiester linkages flanking the adduct. The results confirmed that IQ adopted a base-displaced intercalated conformation in this sequence context but did not corroborate the formation of a hydrogen bond between the IQ quinoline nitrogen and the complementary dC [Elmquist, C. E.; Stover, J. S.; Wang, Z.; Rizzo, C. J. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2004, 126, 11189-11201]. 相似文献

A metal-organic framework (MOF) based on Pt, Y, and 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxylate (BPDC), stable up to 400 degrees C, has been synthesized and characterized. In this MOF, the Pt centers are coordinated to Cl and the N atoms of the BPDC unit, giving a local environment similar to that found in a series of Pt-organic complexes with catalytic activity toward C-H bond cleavage of alkanes. This new material is a heterogeneous counterpart to the corresponding metal-organic complex. The structure, determined by single-crystal XRD data, is the repetition of three covalently bonded layers. These layers form a block, which is stacking as an (a)(b)(c) sequence along the crystallographic b-axis. Each layer contains the Pt-organic unit, while Y atoms represent the connection between adjacent layers. No covalent connection is present between layer (a) of a block and layer (c) of an adjacent block. EXAFS (BM29 at the ESRF) analysis supports the XRD data. As this MOF crystallizes under hydrothermal conditions, water acts both as solvent and as a direct ligand of Y. Accessibility to the metal centers is demonstrated by reversible water desorption/readsorption, as determined by TPA/TPD, FTIR, UV-vis, EXAFS, and XANES. Importantly, the results show that the as-synthesized material will not suffer a permanent loss in porosity upon solvent removal. In addition to water, methanol, ethanol, and acetonitrile can also access the internal void of the dehydrated phase. 相似文献

The crystal structure of Cs2BaTa6Br15O3 has been elucidated by using synchrotron X‐ray powder diffraction and absorption experiments. It is built from edge‐bridged octahedral [(Ta6${{\rm Br}{{{\rm i}\hfill \atop 9\hfill}}}$ ${{\rm O}{{{\rm i}\hfill \atop 3\hfill}}}$ )${{\rm Br}{{{\rm a}\hfill \atop 6\hfill}}}$ ]4? cluster units with a singular poor metallic electron (ME) count equal to thirteen. This leads to a paramagnetic behaviour related to one unpaired electron. The arrangement of the Ta6 clusters is similar to that of Cs2LaTa6Br15O3 exhibiting 14‐MEs per [(Ta6${{\rm Br}{{{\rm i}\hfill \atop 9\hfill}}}$ ${{\rm O}{{{\rm i}\hfill \atop 3\hfill}}}$ )${{\rm Br}{{{\rm a}\hfill \atop 6\hfill}}}$ ]5? motif. The poorer electron‐count cluster presents longer metal–metal distances as foreseen according to the electronic structure of edge‐bridged hexanuclear cluster. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations on molecular models were used to rationalise the structural properties of 13‐ and 14‐ME clusters. Periodic DFT calculations demonstrate that the electronic structure of these solid‐state compounds is related to those of the discrete octahedral units. Oxygen–barium interactions seem to prevent the geometry of the octahedral cluster to strongly distort, allowing stabilisation of this unprecedented electron‐poor Ta6 cluster in the solid state. 相似文献

The binding affinity for Pb2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ of the sinapic acid–calix[4]arene hybrid 2, having four sinapyl pendants at the upper rim, has been investigated via an UV–Vis study. Compound 2 has better complexing ability than the monomeric p-phenetidine derivative 1. This highlights that the clustering of sinapyl units in a basket-like structure, dictated by the calixarene scaffold, greatly enhances the complexing properties. Ligand 2 forms complexes even with Hg2+, which is not complexed by 1 at all; the complexes formed by 2 with Pb2+ and Cd2+ are much stronger than the analogous complexes formed by 1. The UV–Vis investigation shows that the hybrid 2 markedly favors Pb2+ over Cd2+ and Hg2+. Information on the structural properties of the complex species was obtained by 1H NMR spectroscopy. NMR data show that all three metal ions are placed into the cavity consisting of the calixarene scaffold and the sinapyl pendants, though their binding affects the coordinating regions to a different extent. 相似文献

An abnormal interaction between copper and the prion protein is believed to play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of prion diseases. Copper binding has been mainly attributed to the N-terminal domain of the prion protein, but this hypothesis has recently been challenged in some papers which suggest that the C-terminal domain might also compete for metal anchoring. In particular, the segment corresponding to the helix II region of the prion protein, namely PrP180-193, has been shown both to bind copper and to exhibit a copper-enhanced cytotoxicity, as well as to interact with artificial membranes. The present work is aimed at extending these results by choosing the most representative model of this domain and by determining its copper affinity. With this aim, the different role played by the electrostatic properties of the C- and N-termini of PrP180-193 (VNITIKQHTVTTTT) in determining its conformational behaviour, copper coordination and ability to perturb model membranes was investigated. Owing to the low solubility of PrP180-193, its copper affinity was evaluated by using the shorter PrPAc184-188NH2 (IKQHT) analogue as a model. ESI-MS, ESR, UV/Vis, and CD measurements were carried out on the copper(II)/PrPAc184-188NH2 and copper(II)/PrP180-193NH2 systems, and showed that PrPAc184-188NH2 is a reliable model for the metal interaction with the helix II domain. The affinity of copper(II) for the helix II fragment is higher than that for the octarepeat and PrP106-126 peptides. Finally, the different ability of PrP180-193 analogues to perturb the DPPC model membrane was assessed by DSC measurements. The possible biological consequences of these findings are also discussed briefly. 相似文献

Brandy and other aged distillates are a rich source of polyphenols. For brandies, contact with wood during ageing makes an important contribution to their polyphenols content. This paper describes the use of a previously devised ultra performance LC (UPLC) method to study the polyphenols content of Brandy de Jerez. UPLC is a new technique in LC offering several potential advantages, especially the reduction of time. Analyses of brandy performed by HPLC were repeated by UPLC. A special UPLC analytical column (Acquity UPLC BEH C18 column, 100×2.1 mm), with a particle size of 1.7 μm, forms part of this system. Using the UPLC system enabled the time needed for analysis to be reduced to one tenth of the time needed in the conventional HPLC system. In conclusion, the separation factor results of the UPLC were compared to those obtained using HPLC methods; this demonstrated that simple, high efficiency UPLC gradients are viable and advantageous substitutes for traditional analysis of polyphenols in brandy by HPLC. The method enabled 14 phenolic compounds to be identified and determined in 33 different commercial brandies, and this allowed them to be differentiated in function of quality. 相似文献

The stopped-flow technique has been used to study the effect of cationic (CTAN), nonionic (Triton X-100), andanionic (SDS) micelles on the rate of the reaction between nickel(II) ion and the ligand pyridine-2-azo-p-dimethylaniline (PADA) at 20.0°C and ionic strength 0.03 mol dm?3. The complex formation reaction is markedly inhibited by both CTAN and Triton X-100 micelles. The kinetic dataare found to conform to a reaction mechanism which implies only partitioning of the ligand between water and the micellar phase, the estimated bindingconstant of PADA being significantly larger in the presence of CTAN aggregates. Anionic micelles strongly speed the complexation reaction, Which occurs in the micellar phase with the same rate and the same mechanism as in water. The extent of binding of PADA to anionic micelles is similar to that found for the cationic micellar aggregates. 相似文献
